Hi! I'm pretty new to dollmaking but I do some casting courses in my college now. There is a german company that list almost everything from silicone to resins but I'm just not sure which resin would be ok for a BJD? http://www.reckli.de/en/start_en.htm I searched a web and DOA but I just don't get which type of resin do you use? How are the INCI? Or just something like properties so I can explain my teacher what resin I need? I got that the resin should be polyurethane resin? But there are so many other things made out of polyurethane . I found some links of non-european sites: http://www.alumilite.com/ http://smoothon.com/ but my question is which one exactly you get from them? Can you give exact name or link, that I could better find it on the site? Or maybe link on a ebay? Just something to understand the difference and to find put the right type of resin! Thank you!!!
You want a rigid, non-expanding polyurethane with shore hardness between D65 and D80, viscosity should be around 100-250 cps, and mixture should be 1:1 by either weight or volume. You also want at the very least 5 minutes of potlife. I can't see any polyurethane resin on the Reckli site, only polyurethane rubber and other kinds of silicone. You could try Tiranti.co.uk, they are in England. Or contact Reckli and ask them if they do sell polyurethane resin with the specs above. ETA: http://www.aura-shop.de/biresin.htm This is a German company that seems to sell moldmaking and resin supplies. I found them by googling the polyurethane products sold at Tiranti. I can't read much German, but hopefully you might find what you need there.
