Okay, so I know there are significant others into this hobby, and there are the Three Sisters (morbidollz, belladonna, and frozen wings), but who else are into BJDs that are in the same family? Mother and Daughter and/or Son? Father and Daughter and/or Son? Aunt and Niece and/or Nephew? I'm sure by now you get my drift. Now, me, I don't family members who are into the hobby, but they mostly just support it. Somewhat. >.>,,,
None of my family members are into the BJD hobby. Nor are any of my friends. I don't think any of them even know what they are. I'm all alone in my little section of the world, heheh... xD My dad somewhat tolerates them though, he praises Lune... But really, only the fact that I'm sewing things for her. xD
Myself and my two daughters, ages 8 and 11 (and they both "age" next month. eep! birthday present time!). We're also all into anime and art. Sure they started out because they saw Mom having fun with these things (and with the people she met through them) but they've been moving in their own directions. It's really interesting to watch. Anyone who says little kids are too young for BJDs hasn't seen my kids! Who says a 40 year age gap has to be problematic, eh?
My sis. But she's not into "playing" with BJDs, but likes to have them like a "collector" but nonetheless she takes good care of her dollfie (:
May sister and I both have DD, and adore them. And we both want more! My parents like them, just because they like to see what sort of costumes we come up for our little vinyl kenderkin.
None of mine! ^^; I'm sure that if I even mentioned the actual price to any of my other family members- aside from my mom- they would think I was crazy. ^^;;;; Still, once I get Vana face-uped (must do that soon...), I'm sure they'll all think she's beautiful, if nothing else. So yes, no other family members, although my mom thinks she's very pretty. ^_^;
I brought my elder daughter (almost 17) into the hobby. She is getting an elf Shushu for her b-day next month
Aside from my husband? My 6 year old daughter! ^_^ She adores her Joong Choo (Star), and is saving up for an MSD! ^_^ (Of course, mommy and daddy will be helping with that one. ) She's INCREDIBLY responsible with her dolly, and already has bought a bunch of clothes & a new wig for her! Oh! And on a side note? My mom WANTS to join in, but is still skeptical about paying so much for a doll. Of course, that's slowly changing with the new Yo's & the SD16's. hehehe.
Neither of my family members. My brother likes Rae alot but when i said "if i get enough money i'll get u one" he said "no thanks, although i like them, he would sit naked or in the same clothes and wig everyday on my shelf" in otherwords a waste of money (poor doll) i think family members have distinctive similarities in some ways i like all of morbidollz, belladonna, and frozen wings dolls (their parents most be very cool about these dolls now)
I infected everyone I knew. XD Myself and all three roomates have dolls (well, Katie's Lati is on order). My dad has been recruited to make wood things for them (Caer's coffin is complete, wig stands next!). My mom is the one who taught me to sew, and may be sewing for the boys eventually. AND...just last weekend...we've opened the possibility with the 13-year-old sister who's living with us about saving for her own doll, and she's very excited! It's a lifestyle, I'm telling you. XD
My mom and I both have our own BJDs. =D My aunt doesn't own one but she loves them! She even helped me out with deciding on my first BJD. :' ) I got my cousin into them recently. Haha he loves how 'cool' they look and he once used one of them in a small film he had to make for a school project. =O
Well, I don't know if you'd say she's "into" the BJD hobby, but my little sister, after seeing some photos, really wants a MNF Shiwoo. Otherwise most of my family thinks they're too weird looking.
For me, none of my other family members collect them, just my boyfriend, and he is getting his first one soon. If we ever manage to have children, I would like to see if my children would like them^^;.
for me, its my daughter, she is 14 and a half, she has 5 dollfies and loves them to bits, and my niece who is 11 loves them too, so I gave her a Elf Ani from CP/Luts and she adores her to bits, making her clothes and taking photo's of her.
My mom wants a CH Gabriel girl, but keeps balking at the cost. But in the meantime she really loves buying stuff for my boys. ^^;
My sister said they were cool when i showed her the wikipedia on them when she asked me what they were. I dont know what my parents think though - i havent said anything about them to them XP
My husband has pretty much taken over my Lati boy, and my daughter is getting a BJD for her birthday this week. I just found out I have another child on the way....poor little guy's doomed! haha
My little niece has been talking non-stop about BJD for the past few weeks. ^^ Quoth her mother: "Why couldn't you have shown her Toys 'R Us, or Barbies.."
My sister-in-law and one niece of mine have BJDs, of the more older porcelain kinds, not the asain resin ones. Definitely NOT my mom. I told her I wanted a MNF and of course had to tell her the price and she flipped her lid. So my mom definitely ISNT a fan *lol* It is nice to have a couple close family members sympathetic, and doll lovers too. But I am
My god-daughter has a MNF Shiwoo and wants a MNF Ari to go with him... and while I wouldn't exactly says that he's "into BJDs", my husband does a have a doll of his own. (A CP Moon named Tez. 'Sort-of an action figure of his favorite City of Heroes character-)
no one into BJDs but my mom has made doll clothes in the past and considered going into restringing but i advised against it...i told her to make clothes instead
Well, my mom and I both love to make clothes for my dolls and we love to pose them. So I kind of share that with her. But I wouldn't say that she really has a doll or that's her hobby.
None of them!! >_< I live with horrible horrible males of the most abjectly doll-hating sort. Raven (has obviously made some bad choices, LOL!)
Only one. I'm credited with getting my cousin into BJDs. Though...she wasn't that interested in them at first I think, but now she's just as crazy over them as I am. When we're together, that's pratically the only thing we talk about. Aside from her...no one really. My immediate family tolerates it, and I think my mom may even be just a little bit interested in them, but the rest of my family absolutely detests me liking dolls.
My sibling - Djinn - and I are a dolly tagteam and were since the beginning of our BJD hobby; our first dolls came together, we share the doll family and their intricate story plot/relationships. XD So our website is one and the same.
I would be thrilled if my boyfriend decided to join somehow. ^^; He does seem to think it's a bit entertaining to go around in the stores at least... But my family... Nah, would never happen. ^^;
My dad's half-heartedly thinking about making a Spock doll... He wants to create the ultimate geekdom.... BJDs AND Trekkies. My friend Caroline loves them, though. She kind of sort of counts as family, right? She'd save up for one... But she kind of has this spending problem XDD
My mom loves them I would like one if they wouldn't be so expensive. My grandmother loves them to and also makes them clothing some times!!! But she does have a hard time remembering they are boys! By boyfriend wants me to sell my Isao because he is limmited and he once saw what some one on eaby paid for one. He thinks all male dolls are gay and reaallllyy doesn't like them at all!
None of my family members are into BJD. But I did caught my brother today doing taekwondo moves with Tsukasa!*giggles*
My parents think they are a waste of money but my sister seems to be into them. She doesn't have a job so she couldn't actually buy one but she thinks they are really neat.
I've avoided mentioning them to anyone in my family.... my mom might think they're cute, but would totally freak over the price!
My mom, who has 4 BJDs in house & another on the way. At first she balked at the price, but Elf Ducan finally convinced her to get one. As far as I can tell, my aunt, my male cousin, and his oldest daughter all think they're gorgeous, but aren't interested in actually one of their own.
My dad will happily interact with my dolls when I'm at home, and when I'm at college he sends letters not only to me, but to Arioc and Radriel as well. Right now I have them tacked up on my corkboard. XD But I'd be very very surprised if anyone in my family got more "into" dolls than that.
My sister is actually the one to introduce me to BJDs. She has three, I believe, all girls. I tend to like the boys more, but I don't have any yet. But we shall see what happens! As for the rest of my family, my mom thinks they are too expensive and so does my boyfriend. -.-
No one is my family is in too them. They think they are a waste of time. I have two friend into them and one who has one. (YuffieK)
My kids are just as crazy about them as I am and each have one of their own. My husband has always supported all my hobbies but never showed interest in owning one until recently when I received Unidoll Jace. That doll is now his and he is in love with the new Uni-Real 2.
My mom loves BJDs. She has two of her own (and I'm bugging her to get a third ^o^) Even though I mostly take care of them. Nobody else in my family really likes them, my dad and brother tolerate them. My dad thinks they are cute and he has his favorites and favorite outfits
My older sister is on this board already. She collects only bigger dolls where as I only collect MSD size and smaller. We do have another sibling who collects and customizes 1/6 scale dolls like Obitsu and Volks but is not into ABJDs though.
My mother has always loved dolls so when I started bringing my Crew over to meet her, she showed a slight interest in them. She doll-sat my Nasake when Shuichi, Chikara and Hatori went with us to the 2006 yaoicon. I only had four at the time. Then I took her to a few meetups and the ones she liked were the most expensive ones, like EternalSerenity's Unoa Lusis, Royal. She found she also liked the smaller ones best, so I was finally able to pin her down on a choice. Xmas 2006, I gave her a Orientdoll So vampire Ji version 2 and she loves her! She is now interested in getting the other four OD vampires because they are so cute. Oh yeah, her husband tolerates them enough to hold one of mine if needed. My husband loves my Chikara and likes to carry him around. He also helps carry all the doll bags to meetups! I recently purchased a well-endowed Dollfie Plus for my husband, who plans on turning her into Tifa Lockheart from Final Fantasy VII. Eventually, he will be convinced to get a large doll to represent her...
My Mom has several of her own and my Grandmother even has two, so the men in my family spend a lot of time scratching their heads and wondering if we've lost our collective minds.
My sister's into BJDs as well. We're saving up right now to split a Too and Bee-a set. None of my other friends or family are really into these dolls though... Most of my friends do enjoy looking at the dolls I show them though, and my parents listen when I talk about them.
My twin sister! Fraternal not Identical although we look the same... In the past, she would complain about how I wanted to spend so much money on a doll. But then she became curious and I showed her pictures here on DOA. Then she would look through all the BJD sites and we would talk about them. Someday we'll both have a bjd (even though I know I'm more into them). It'll be great. Doing faceups together, learning how to sew, doing photoshoots and photostories with both our dolls kicking each others butts... I can't wait!
I got my twin sister Davinerurinvega into them and then we got our mom into them ...She bought herself a Zoall Muse,then a Bee-a and we bought her an Orientdoll Ui for her birthday...all in the space of a year.She hates to admit that she's completely hooked She's also planning for a Supia Roda.My dad is amused by them and messes with them when we arent home...he has a tendency to flop them around with mini liquor bottles...
My sister has a kid delf boy. And my mom doesn't have one yet but she is always making clothes for him and she calls him her granddoll.
My daughters and I were all introduced to ABJD's simultaneously at a bookstore (thank you Haute Doll!) I bought my four before they bought theirs (1 each) due to me being grown up and having my own money and them being preteen and having to save and horde for 6 months ( they didn't spend a cent ( OK my eldest spent $2.00)),so they could afford their DD's. We have a lot of fun with our dolls, even though we play with them very differently. My husband is very supportive, he understands obsessive hobbies, he's into steam locomotives and miniatures ( he's taken over 1/2 of our (admitedly small) backyard with his layout). Susan
i am the only one in my family that i know of that is into BJDs. for some reason my parents don't seem to understand why i want to buy a doll.
my lil brother thinks they're cool but doesnt want one for himself... he wants me to get one though so he can play with him XDD
Right now, none of my close friends or family members are into the BJD scene. They think it's a little excessive to spend that much money on a doll, but my mom has stated she thinks the dolls are pretty and my lil sis isn't into the dolls since she has issues as an artist about the bodies not being in proper proportions.
So far, I'm the only one out of my friends and family who even knows what BJDs are. I've explained them to my parents, but they don't seem to care so much. But I do suspect that when I do get my doll and show it to my grandmother sometime, she will love her. I don't know why, but I just get that feeling.
