which AOD seller do you prefer?

Oct 12, 2007

?
  1. "aoddolls" aka "sky18482310521", the "official" seller

  2. "renaissancefashion" the reseller who wasn't allowed to resell the dolls for a while (Jack?)

  3. I'd recommend them both

  4. other, not on ebay (f.ex. Junkyspot or other US reseller, please comment)

    1. Hi guys, I'm totally confused since there are two sellers on ebay again.
So far. I've heard good things about both, so I thought it'd be nice to have all the experiences made packed in one poll... :sweat

I appreciate you sharing your experiences with me, thanks :aheartbea

Also, feel free to comment on your poll response!

/edit: the poll is anonymous, you don't have to comment if you don't feel like it.
Also, you can mark multiple options.

    2. I count Alan of sky18482310521 as a personal friend and he's never done me wrong. I don't know if he answers ALL the eBay mail or handles ALL the orders, but I've been treated very well by him. I have not personally dealt with Jack, but I have heard glowing reports about his service, too. So I would recommend either of them.

Addendum: You also simply canNOT go wrong with Junky Spot (Emory) or Denver Doll Emporium. I adore them both!! (But Junky Spot has lower prices for those needing to watch their pennies. His site does not show all the AoD dolls, but he can order anything AoD carries.)

    3. I'd reccomend Jack because he was who I bought my first boy from and I couldn't be happier with him! I've heard mixed reports about Sky but have yet to buy from him so can't really reccomend him due to lack of experience with him. Jack it is then:) .

    4. Junky Spot all the way. I never order a doll from anywhere else.

    5. I'm not sure this is a topic for the debate section?
maybe the Buying Advice or General Discussion.

    6. Junky Spot is my favorite, though every now and then Denver Doll will have a nice OOAK custom head, so it's good to check there occasionally. I was very happy with my service from Jack (Renaissance Fashion) as well!

    7. I'm another Junkyspot fan. I never buy from anyone else, unless it something they don't carry. Great customer service, really fun Forum, etc.

    8. I have ordered from both the ebay and official AOD site and had great service. But now that US dealers will be carrying them, I go that way - easier on payment and shipping. I will order future dolls from Denver Doll Emporium. Their service and reliability is the best.

    9. Hey guys! Thanks for all your comments!

      @hyschara
You might be right about that :sweat
I'd go with "Buying Advice", but I didn't see it when I posted the thread, sorry...:doh :doh :doh

    10. I had a great ebay transaction with sky18482310521 and I bought an AOD body from grace at Jpopdolls.

    11. I have purchased dolls from both and am happy to buy from both sellers - but to me Jack had the edge as he sent me a selection of face ups to choose from, kept me informed at every step and shipped the doll two weeks quicker.

Plus for the time being he is still offering free face ups, but Alan is offering a wider range of dolls

    12. Hi!
Thanks again for sharing your experiences (I feel like I keep repeating myself :sweat :sweat )
Please keep voting if yoiu haven't done so yet and help future AOD customers like me :sweat

    13. Just noticed Jack has added a whole new range of very interesting looking dolls to his site...how many more is he going to tempt me with? I only have so much money to spend and Christmas is fast approaching

    14. Yeah, the BG Dolls are pretty cute, actually, but I think I still like AOD's dolls more... especially the body, which I find more detailed etc....
but I do like the faces, though...

    15. It's nice to finally see a place to order the B&G dolls, though... especially an English speaking one. The site in itself was terribly confusing. And they're a good price! I'm glad Jack is back!

    16. Yepp, the BG MSD sized dolls are like some 170$ or so... that's pretty unbeatable!
I also like the MSD's bodies more than the SD sized bodies....though I must say I also like the MSD girls more... :fangirl:

    17. I'm really confused about the purpose of this thread.
According the the official AOD thread, "renaissancefashion" is NOT an authorized agent (and was not when this thread was created). So why is he even listed in this poll as a source to buy from? Shouldn't folks only support the official sellers?

    18. Ummm, as far as I know, Jack (aka rainessancefashion) has straightened things out with AoD and is now allowed to resell their dolls... there was a thread somewhere where he explained it all :sweat :sweat

      Here's a thread concerning Jack:
      http://denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?t=152094&page=5&highlight=Angel+of+Dream+jack

Here's also something a member said in the AoD Waitingroom:

    19. well... that thread quoted above was closed on 8/14. The much more recent info in the official AoD thread outright says that Jack is no longer an authorized seller (though I do see he is on ebay.uk).

here's that official AoD thread. It was not started until 9/12, so clearly it overrides whatever was said prior to 8/14????
      http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?t=164474

nowhere in the current official active thread do I see where Jack is listed as a current authorized agent.

    20. I can't find where it says that renaissance-Fashion is NOT an authorised seller...I just bought a doll from that seller on eBay UK and haven't heard anything, though I have paid - I'm a little bit worried.

    21. Jack admitted on another thread that he was no longer a dealer of AoD and instead had found a new doll company to work with, that being Boy&Girl, which is great! I went to his ebay store to view said dolls, and noticed he had some AoDs still up. I assume these are left over stock he needs to get rid of. I wouldn't personally worry about his honesty, he's had great reviews here, I think he just needs to empty his coffers of excess product. But that's what I 'get' from all this.

    22. Bought mine from their website and also on ebay, quicker emails from website and this time shipping was fast only 17 days :) but this was a month ago or so..things might have changed

    23. Hmh, yeah, this sound like he was going to go with BG Dolls now and trying to get rid of the rest of his AOD stuff....

Weirdly enough, I asked him about an AOD head just a day ago, and he said he'd be able to get it for me....
So, if he really isn't an authorised dealer and everything, he really shouldn't be taking new orders and all... Especially if he's got a new company to work for... that's rather impudent behavior...
I dunno, maybe I should ask him about what he has to say about all this..

    24. Sorry for the double post, but I have some big news that might help us with this issue!

I've been writing the "original" AOD seller lately cause I want to buy one of their dolls some time soon...

So anyways, since we had this discussion, I asked the "original" seller, "aoddolls":

"I also wanted to ask you about the other AOD seller, renaissancefashion aka Jack.
There has been a lot of talking whether he was an authorised reseller or not, so I just wanted to know whether he is a legal AOD reseller or not."

and this is what I got as an answer just a couple minutes ago:

So I guess it's okay to buy from him!

      yay, I'm glad.... *whew*

    25. Nice to have an answer! You can be authorized to sell more than one company as well.

    26. Jack did contact me about the MSD-size body I bought from him a couple of days ago, and was very nice.

It is amazingly good value >.<

He is doing free shipping at the moment! :o

    27. :) I got a 1/3 boy body from Jack via Ebay. Free shipping, great communication, and he took just over a week to get to the UK. And the parcel was marked as a 'sculpture gift', so no custom charges.
I'm kinda in 2 minds about the marking down of parcels, its good not to have to pay the ransom to get your doll delivered. But if the package gets lost you can only claim back what was marked on the customs form. And also I think if you ask for the sender to do this for you its an offence. May be wrong on this, so please correct me if I am.

    29. Ok wow, I'm a bit confused about where I'm supposed to post and everything. So, I'm sorry if this is a bit of a faux pas, but I was wondering about this shop that I found on eBay. Does anyone know anything about it? It seems very inexpensive, are those dolls the real thing? I'm pretty excited about it if it's all genuine, because it means I could have ordered one of them by Christmas, hehe. But, of course, I don't want to buy any fakes or anything. I notice they don't have loads of feedback, but what they do have is all positive. So does anyone know what the deal is with them? Help a BJD newbie out? Thanks :)

    30. Pretty sure this user is a dealer for Angel of Dream. They're fairly inexpensive, but so far what I have read is positive.

    31. I ordered Kome from Jack. :3 And he was VERY polite and considerate. My doll arrived in about four days and when he had a broken finger - I reported it to Jack and he immediately sent out a new hand for me. No complaints here!

    32. Ah ok, so it seems like he's the real thing, great :D (Thanks to whoever moved my post, sorry to be any trouble ^^)

    33. Hey alana_kai!

Don't be afraid, renaissancefashion aka Jack is an authorised AOD seller for the UK, I've asked the original AOD seller (in that other ebay shop) about renaissancefashion aka Jack and he said that Jack was a legal reseller of AOD dolls.... so don't be worried, everything should be fine ;)

    34. Yes - Jack is a AOD seller on Ebay UK only! Mr Sun has worked out a contract with Jack.

Here is a picture with all three skin colors -

    36. I bought the male 1:3 body for my friend's Christmas present(yes,I am still working on it.....meh.) from renaissancefashion (Jack) and recieved it SUPER fast, with GREAT customer service. (He just hasn't left me feedback yet....but I'm sure he will). GREAT transaction, and the doll body is gorgeous! =^_^=

    37. Alan was very nice and patient with me, since I had a screw up with paypal at the time, so it took 3 weeks before I could pay for Emily. I bow for him, managing to keep up with me all this time. :)

    38. I just put one on layaway with Denver Doll Emporium. They're fantastic!

    39. I would recommend Junkyspot, because that's the only AoD distributor I've had experience with. But every order I've made through Junkyspot has been a joy to do. ^_^

    40. My AoD doll came from aoddolls but my friend has recommended that if I try and get another one (since I'm planning on a Gu) that I should buy him from renaissancefashion. They do still list AoD dolls although the only problem with me buying from them is that they offer a faceup service in the price, but I cannot have said faceup due to my reactions to MSC. I've been thinking of maybe trying Junkyspot of Denver Doll Emporium, if they have the Gu available of course.

    41. would I be better advised to contact AoD direct through the email address on their site, even though I bought through ebay? I sent 1 email to the mail address given on the paypal receipt (starts) top_sincerity2058, but have not yet had any reply, is this a reseller or actually AoD themselves?
