Where else should I plan and advertise meet events?

I don't know how I missed this topic. Here's some info for you. Your mileage may vary with how effective these options are, but it's better to try than not to try.

If you're in the USA, there's a Facebook group where people post information about upcoming meets. It looks like it mostly caters to people in California, but it's had information for people on the east coast, too. Log into Facebook

You can also start your own FB group just for the meet. People also use things like Discord for this purpose.

If you're already part of other collector doll forums and social media groups than Den of Angels, post about your meets there, too. I've posted meets on Dollfie Dreams and Dolly Daily. If it's something you would be okay with regarding your meet, people can bring non-BJD dolls, and those other forums would be great for getting those people. You might get Fashion Royalty, Momoko, whatever. The meet photo subforum here on Den of Angels has always been permissive about off topic dolls as long as at least some BJDs show up, so it's a good way to be inclusive.

I've also heard of people using Instagram to promote meets, but I never really dabbled with it.

Yes people still use Tumblr but for something like arranging a local meet up it wouldn't be that practical because you have no idea where anyone is located.

And there are plenty of people, like me, who use Facebook but don't want to deal with things like Instagram or figuring out how Discord works. I don't even have Facebook or Messenger on my phone because of reasons. I would however look at a Facebook group post and of course the doll forums I'm on.
