    1. I've seen other threads on asking people whether they have blogs or not but I made this one because I wanted to add a poll. I am becomoing interested in a traditional text + picture blog and am considering various platforms. While I know tumblr is currently the most modern, popular "traditional-ish" blogging platform, I'm not a fan of the format and would like to see if there's a large enough following on other sites so that I can follow others as well.

So please let me know what you use and how active it's been for you. ^^

Also please leave the link to your blog below.

    2. I recently made a Tumblr, my user is Damon di angelo. My main doll "blog" is Instagram though. I'm SeraphBJD there. My Tumblr is not super active, as it's new. My Instagram is slowly getting more active as I make connections with other doll accounts. I like Instagram as a doll media/blogging site best so far, but I'm thinking of converting an old blog I made as a teen into a doll blog. That one's a WordPress, and dang WordPress is awesome. So many options.

    3. I have tumblr, but I hate it. It's not a nice website and I'd rather be elsewhere but it seems to be one of the most popular so I thought it'd be a good place to make friends in the hobby. If there were another platform doll bloggers used, I'd definitely ditch tumblr! I kinda miss the old days of LJ, it was a much better blogging format.

    4. I tried Tumblr but abandoned it for WordPress xD I really like WordPress so far. I haven't done much with my blog but the options they give you were tested against other blog sites and Wordpress won. So far it's true, they have the best interface and free service. I'm working on my blog again now.

    5. Thus far I like Instagram best. I have a tumblr, but never use it for anything doll related. I'll probably check out wordpress with everyone here mentioning it.

    6. I have a Tumblr, which usually is just pictures. My main doll blog, such as it is, is on Dreamwidth. I was so used to working with Livejournal that I prefer to keep it in that format as opposed to Wordpress. And I host my pictures on Flickr.

    7. I'm content with Tumblr, I have a mix of interests and followers and it's easy for me to add photos and video links as I need them.

    8. Russian forum has added blogs to the platform, so, I'm thinking to move there.
Maybe it is good idea for DOA to add blogs, too.

    9. I have a Tumblr and an Instagram account, even though I've started off my bjd adventure on tumblr I found myself more active on Instagram these past months.
I'm trying to change that since I used to love that platform and used to have a personal blog there, slightly dark and gloomy, I decided to delete it to start fresh with dolls, faceups WIP and some writing.

What I like about tumblr is that through other people reblogs you can find other blogs to follow :)
Plus, I don't know if this might sound weird, but it gives me the warm and cozy feeling of a Cafè des artistes

    10. You wanted a link to the site below so here it is to show the options.

    11. I think in terms of actually having people see/interact with/follow your content, tumblr is the most active blog site I've been on. It's true though that there is a hostile element to the community there. I've considered several times moving over to instagram, which also seems to have an active community, but I feel like there's a much higher pressure to upload daily, and I just don't have the time for that kind of commitment.

Of course, these are all just my assumptions/experiences, and I could be wrong.

    12. I'm curious as a couple mentioned blogging on Instagram. How exactly would you do that unless it was a picture blog specifically. I wrote posts on my blog and plan to post story exerpts. How would you do that there?

    13. I decided to start an english blog on blogspot/blogger. I need enough place for tutorials and photos :)

    14. My "main" doll blog is on Wordpress.com. Opened it after Blogdrive mistakenly shut my account down twice and didn't return my emails the second time :/
      Frosted Mint Dolls

The Tumblr gets used more often because of how easy it is to reblog someone else's post or stay in touch.
      Frosted Mint Dolls: Tumblr Outpost

...Oh jeez, it's been almost a year since I added new content to the Wordpress. I need to finish the posts I have planned so it doesn't look abandoned.:aeyepop:

    15. I want to ask about what you mean about the hostile environment

Do you mean people who do not like dolls ?

I was thinking of making my space on tumblr because I feel Instagram is too fast moving for me but also I do not care about the reblogging of the tumblr pages but I like the community and easy it is to set everything

    16. @GreenTeaSlug

I'm referring mostly to the confession blog... situation. In case you haven't encountered it yet, there are blogs in the tumblr bjd community created for the purpose of having people post anonymous "confessions" to them, though only some of them are actual confessions, and a lot of it is people complaining about users they don't like, bragging about having recasts, making fun of other peoples' dolls, and just generally saying nasty things. There are some positive-oriented confession blogs, though, and it's entirely possible to block the ones you don't like.

Beyond that, it's mostly just the tumblr mentality of getting into arguments/discourse over relatively minor things. I've personally been in two arguments in my time having a doll blog, and I try to be as non-confrontational as possible. I'm not saying this will happen to you, it might not. Just saying that the possibility exists.

    17. I read some of those but I didn’t care for it because it made me feel bad then i thought that it is made by people who are not happy and this is only projection so not to take it personal and that it is mostly by the people who are still trying to understand themselves or are trying to make drama for no reason other than to fill a void in himself. The only thing I don’t like about tumblr is that anything can be offensive if they want it to be. Yes your answer helped my decision now thank you for the good explanation

I met someone last spring and when i talk about the confession blog and how it worried me she told me to stay away from it that it is not like the real hobby i do understand people harbor anger but I don’t understand why they bring it to an hobby most people use to escape those feelings

I think i will use wordpress because i don’t want to worry about re blogs and offending someone also it is easier to look through archive because I’m not good with the technology

I hope I make sense my writing English is not very good and i am trying to improve it by becoming more active in English writing community and blog :-)

    18. My art blog and “general purpose” blog are both on Tumblr, and I technically have a BJD Tumblr as well, but as has been mentioned, I’m wary of the BJD community there. Mostly, the bloggers are very pro-artist, but there is a very present pro-recast group as well. The BJD tag can be a touch... Vitriolic.

I’d pick Instagram for my doll blogging purposes, honestly. Picture-focused, microblogging just for the details, and the community seems much nicer. Moreso, I really like the doll community on Youtube, but that’s harder to blog on. Vlog?

    19. I have just recently made a blog but I upload on Instagram the most frequently :)

    20. Tumblr. It's hardly perfect but I've been over there forever at this point anyways so it was easily enough to make a sideblog for my dolls so I could write about them and post up dumb pictures of them all. So far, it's been pretty fun too. I do like interacting with pro-artist side and it's easy enough to avoid confession blog + other negativity.

Instagram is nice too but I personally feel weird writing a lot in the comments so I do like Tumblr better for that. c:
