Sewing Where can we find Popovy mannequins ?

Jun 6, 2023

    1. Hello everybody :)

Does someone know where it is posible to find mannequins with Popovy dolls measurements ? I don't manage to find on the internet :pout:

    2. Your best bet is to make one of your own, it's relatively easy.

Cover the doll in clingfilm, cover the clingfilm in masking tape, cut the shell off the body very carefully. I personally then put it back on the body and add duct tape but don't tape up the cuts used to remove the shell, remove the shell again, seal it up and stuff it.

Personally, when I made Bob (my SartoriaJ body double) his core was actually a sock full of dried rice to give him some weight and to reduce squishing without spending a fortune on stuffing.

    3. Thanks a lot for the tip ! Would you have a photo of the final result ? I don't manage to visualize it ...

    4. Not immediately to hand, but I can take one of Bob's final form.

What I do have to hand is this photo when I was in the middle of making Bob. At the point this photo was taken the duct tape is hollow and I'd only just taped up the slit that went entirely down the back. Prior to that, that silver-grey shape could literally be put on the doll like clothing.

If you look up making a duct tape mannequin on youtube you'll see people doing it on humans, you can just miniaturise what they do. There's also this https://tatianabstudio.wixsite.com/main/tutorials tutorial which talks about turning the clingfilm and tape to make patterns for doll bodies.
