I wasn't exactly sure where to classify this and I didn't find anything through search, and this could be a total newb question, but I've been wondering... when do US retailers like DDE typically receive new full sets that are now no longer available to preorder? Example, I was late to the Fairyland Iset train and I'd love for them to have her full set in stock eventually. They still have sets like Miwa/Ingrid on their website and as far as I can tell those are from last fall. Does DDE usually end up with extras to sell? And is 6-8 months a typical wait time before those show up on their website?
Most retailers don't keep in stock dolls. There is only one company that I'm aware of that regularly only keeps stock. That is Junkyspot. Most others are order only unless you have somebody specifically who's working with an artist and keeps stock. The way that most of these companies work is you order through them and they send in an order at the end of the month to the company to produce. Any dolls that happen to be in stock are usually orders that didn't go through.
Most likely DDE has in stock dolls due to canceled layaways. Though it is possible they order "extras" during special order periods.
Hey! DDE regularly seems to order extra fullsets and the like. Or at least there are usually extras on their site later. What seems to happen is that they fill pre-orders first, then put extras up. However, US distributors tend to get shipped stock later than those who ordered directly from the company. Just keep your eyes peeled; check the site regularly. My Iset is on her way atm, so they may have a few up in a couple months here.
