Just For Fun What's your idea of a Basic BJD Collection?

One girl and one guy.
… plus at least one complete outfit and a good wig and eye set for each of them.

If you want to get fancy? Maybe add a couple of meaningful accessories, a few bits of suitable jewelry and a little non-human resin pet of some sort. (A quirky DC/DZ event creature, a small anthro, a Micro-scale pixie, a Cuarto dragon or something like that-)

I'd consider that a very small, but still potentially complete, collection.

My own crew is... somewhat more extensive, though. I've never been a minimalist.

 

Two dolls, because One is the loneliest number!

Actually, I think a collection as a group of objects that you buy, sell and trade until you have refined it to bare minimum must-haves. Unfortunately, I haven't figured that out yet. I can't let anyone go!

 

Chiming in with two dolls--boy and girl--seeming about right for a basic collection. Plus all the things to kit them out--face-ups/face-up supplies, eyes, wigs, clothes, accessories, and props if desired. I personally like the balance and two dolls instead of one greatly add to the versatility and potential (in photos, story, and general play) as a whole without seeming beyond a basic level. I hope to probably have this sort of collection for awhile myself.

 

I think a basic collection might be a few minifees or similar with company faceups and absolutely no hybrids lol

 

A VERY basic collection? Maybe one complete doll of the three basic sizes (SD, MSD, YOSD) and an outfit, wig, and shoes for each.

My collection is ... quite a bit more extensive than that, though.
