jeeryama glass eyes : 17.99 Captured in Glass glass eyes: 9.59 Mint on Card glass eyes: 9.00 I was curious on what is the difference between these eyes? To what I see there are absolutely no difference between them all other then Jeeryama is charging about twice what others are selling them for. Are all of these just made by the same manufacturer and the dealers are charging what they wish for them?
I don't believe those eyes are all made by the same manufacturer. I think Jeeryama's and Captured in Glass are the same manufacturer but Mint on Card's are different. That could be part of the price difference if they are paying different manufacturing costs. Mint on Card's seem to be a totally different manufacturer, many of the colors are quite different. The difference in the selection is the biggest difference if you're looking for a very specific color. But the quality may be different between Mint on Card's and the other two as well. All glass eyes are not created equal; How they're made and how experienced the maker is can play a big factor in the quality even if the price is the same. When I add up the math, the prices seem to be within a couple dollars of each other in price between Jeeryama's and Captured in Glass. With Jeeryama's there is $17.99 with free shipping, while with Captured in Glass it's $9.59 with $6.00 shipping making it $15.59. Mint on card is the lowest, at $11.95 including shipping (but they use a cheaper and slower shipping method than the other two choices, if they used the same shipping methods it would cost almost as much as Captured in Glass; around $14.50). Lastly, I'd like to point this out as to why Jeeryama's are a bit more expensive than Captured in Glass; It's as simple as the fact they are selling on eBay. eBay takes 9% of your sales price with another 2.9% + $0.30 or 3.9% + $0.30 with the Paypal fees. The other two can afford to sell for less because they're not losing such a big percentage of their sales price since they're not listing on eBay. So to count in the cost of those 12%-13% taken by eBay and Paypal and the cost of the free shipping, Jeeryama is actually making less on the sale than Captured in Glass. I know when I sell on eBay I have to jack up the price a bit just so I'm not making almost nothing with how Paypal and eBay eat away at my 'profits' with all their fees. I hope this was what you were asking and if it was at all helpful.
Thanks for the reply! That was exactly what I was going for thanks! I realized that the Mint on Card eyes were slightly different but I was taking a guess that perhaps that was because they took their own pictures compared to using the same ones that Captured in Glass and Jeeryama used. I didn't think about including shipping with that explanation the differences in price seem much more logical, also the paypal/ebay fees. Again thank you for the reply!!!
I figure I might ad this in since quality was mentioned. While I've never owned "Captured in Glass" eyes to compare, I can tell you that the glass eyes I got from MoC in the past suited my needs just fine. I had no defects and the pupils were the correct sizes. So quality wise, MoC checks out fine with me.
