What sculpts always make you go "Wow!"?

For me it’s Mori9’s Caroli and basically all of the more feminine Idealians.

 

Older Volks in custom faceups always wows me and sends me to Dollyteria/Mandarake immediately I find the very old company faceups a bit too simple and it always takes me a second to get who I'm looking at with a more modern one.

Also Unoas, both my own and on pictures I see - there is something so lively in those faces and they look good whatever you put them in/however you paint their face. I sometimes just stare at my own for a while, it never gets old!

 

Volks (Williams, Belldandy, Michele), Switch boys (Yido, Waseon), Hua Cheng and Xie Lian from Ringdoll, Devotiondoll Bite.

Edit: Any Unoa Lusis. Literally. I'm so glad to have found one a couple of years ago as she was my grail.

 

Maskcat Roulan, Volks Macha, Doll Chateau Queena, and Doll Zone Snow Fulai. I think it could be argued that they are kind of similar in a certain way. . . Not sure, not very good with faces and structure but those four always get me. Guys are a little harder for me to pin down still.

 

Old Dream of Doll and K-Doll sculpts. I'm always surprised to find out it's a sculpt I've seen a million times, because they all manage to look so different. Also Volks Michelle, even though I do recognize the sculpt immediately.

Angel 2 sleeping type by joydoll. If you ask me if that face is completely my cup of tea, I don't think so, but for some reason I always find myself drawn to it.

 

Fifth Motif Venitu, Nabarro Har, and Nabarro Wally. Each has an expressive and compelling face no matter how he's styled. They aren't dolls I want to own, but I'm always glad to see owner pics.

Also some of Elfdoll's older female sculpts - Vivien, Yuan, Hazy, Sooah, Soah, Emma come to mind. They're gorgeous girls, also glad to see owner pics even though my time to own them has passed.

 

I get this with the majority of Souldoll’s sculpts. They can look very different in person, even with the company face-ups, because they are the kind of dolls that look different at every angle. I won’t always recognize them immediately because of this, but most have that “wow” factor for me that often makes me like a sculpt better than I did before!

Also seconding Volks Suiseiseki. She had this effect on me so strong and so bad that I had to get one. Even though I have owned her for almost 16 years, I still get wow’d the majority of the time I see someone else’s Suiseiseki. Mine still has the original face-up from Volks though, and I agree with what @cobaltconduct said that they are very basic so maybe that’s why

Soom Mecha Angels and Soom Rosette School of Dolls also this effect too. Weird that their other dolls have never grabbed me so much, but both of these lines I love the majority of the sculpts. The Mecha Angels wow me with a sort of mystique I don’t feel from other dolls. Rosette is similar, but less grand feeling and more of an intrigued wow.

 

All of the dolls make me say 'WOW.' I love how someone can make their dolls look so real, miniature versions of people with great style and fashion.

 

Every time I see a Doll Family-H Yue Jian I fall in love with his sweet smiling expression just a little more. Some day I’ll have to own one, he’s precious.

 

Joydoll Lai: such a versatile androgynous sculpt, and no two I've ever seen are alike, even when Joydoll is showing two in the same photo!

Volks's trio of droopy-eyed big boys (Genji, Maki Tsuyoshi/Kei, F-38) always get me: whenever I see one and think "what sculpt is that?", I find out it's one of these three, and they also can look quite different depending on how they're painted.
Shame on me for not always being able to identify them when I own two of the three!

 

Soom Migma and Soom Saiph, Unoa Lusis and Sist, Elfdoll girls, LLT Neil, and Nabarro Sumner all come to mind. no matter how they're styled they always catch my attention! i am lucky enough to own an Elfdoll and two of the Sist faceplates, but i'm always excited to see someone else's take on them. actually this is true of all the dolls i own-- i love all the sculpts in my collection, so seeing how other people interpret them is always awesome.

 

Blasted Volks FCS F-75! Every time... "Oh my god... what an amazing sculpt that I've never seen before"... and every time the universe unveils to me that I need to stop resisting a put him on my wishlist!

 

CeriseDolls/Lilycat Kitty Jolie. I may be a bit biased (because kitty), but it's just such a beautiful and unique face.

 

For me, it’s the Iplehouse Luo, long since discontinued. Every time I see this gorgeous hunk of resin beefcake, it takes my breath away. But I could never come up with a character for him to justify a purchase…so I’ve just always admired him from afar.

 

As someone who owns a lot of Little Rebel dolls, most of her sculpts always catch my attention. She tends to give her sculpts expressiveness so that no matter how they're styled, they seem alive and are vividly themselves.

 

Soom vampire Gluino, SiCang Ahe, and idk if this counts because it's unreleased, but Mori 9's Heretic. I'd do anything for that sculpt to ever be released!!

 

Volks F-100. Every time they show a one-off with that sculpt, I check the tags and laugh when I realize it’s that sculpt, again.

 

volks four sisters/f-01 and mācha, unoa lusis and belia, impldoll eudora, and soom chalco.

 

Supia Hael. It's a sculpt I love no matter how many times I see her. I'm sad I never tamed mine when I owned her (I did at least four faceups on her and finally sold her).

 

For me it’s the older Volks sculpts in one off or custom faceups. I just can’t… they are always so beautiful…

 

Volks Lady Oscar, almost always! I feel like the La Legende de Temps boys are always well done, too.

 

I've always liked big lips and defined cheekbones that's why I'm a big fan of Little Rebel sculpts. I'm lucky to have LR Sarang and mini-Kamu. Andre's still on my wishlist. Same for Nabarro Wally - it always makes me sigh in admiration. And DC Cyril and Ingemar - something about their jawline, eyes and a bit grumpy look make my heart beat faster.

 

Volks Suigintou (the one-off charity ones are crazy beautiful) from Rozen Maiden, Volks Shinku (also from Rozen Maiden), Volks Volks Charlotte, Volks Lieselotte, Volks Lady Oscar, Volks Mytyl, Volks Junichi Nakahara, any of the Volks X Disney Princesses (Ariel, Cinderella, etc), and for sentimental reasons Volks Kun and Volks original 4 sisters (Megu, Sara, Nana, and Kira). It always makes me laugh whenever I see a "new" doll with amazing face-up, wig, and all that, but when I see it is one of these sculpts it just reaffirms how much I love them.

Oh, and a lot of the Iplehouse lads and ladies. So many beauties and hunks from there.

 

Nabarro Sumner, Elfdoll Vivien, Dollmore Zaoll and Elysia, Supia Ji-In and Nael, Fifth Motif Venitu, Souldoll Morse, Soom Sabik and Ignim-Goddess of Abundance (cat version only), Phoenixdoll Liu...

 

Lately it’s been Moonlit Wonder Akheilos. I’m also always gonna feel that way about 5th Motif Venitu.

 

This was my choice as well! I saw one in person for the first time earlier this year and it felt like my heart skipped a beat because the doll was so beautiful. The sculpt is very much on model in that sense. My wallet is only safe because I physically cannot handle a doll that large.

 

Switch Shiho It's sort of nostalgic for me as it takes me back to the 2013 tumblr era.
