Wearables What more can i apply to this dress?

Mar 21, 2016

    1. A cute apron would be nice! Lace along the bottom of the skirt would be a nice finishing touch, or perhaps a lacey petticoat? I personally like sewing crystal accents onto doll dresses for an added sparkle.:goldstar

    2. I think some lace along the bottom will help tie in with the sleeves and collar. I would also add something to the front, either a bow, waistband, or apron, to sort of break up the line a bit, since right now the entire front of the dress is the same pattern. I think breaking up that pattern a bit with a feature in a different color or pattern that cuts across the middle will really help bring the dress to the next level. :)

    3. I agree with the lace on the bottom. Also, maybe a belt/ waist piece? A pinafore/ lacy apron would be cute too. You could also do accent buttons down the front to the waist and then a sash.

Personally, I'd add a contrasting corset to it, but that's just me and corsets lol.

    4. right now its a little off balance with lace around the neck and wrists. personally i think that adding a etticoat with more the lace to the bottom of the skirt would balance it out and then adding a ribbon around the middle would add a nice contrast and separate the dress in such a way as to create visual interest and again it also balances out the contrast the ribbon creates by making contrast itself an integral part of the design.

    5. I've sewn the lace same as shown on the bottom,, but now i've run out of that lace so i'm working on a petticoat with other lace. Hoping i can show it tomorrow.
Thanks for the tips so far:3nodding:

    6. yayz ^0^ i'm really looking forward to seeing it

    7. ps thanks for keeping us updated ^-^

    8. Ok, this is what i've done so far;

I've adjusted the collar, sewed ribbon on the waist and added lace to the bottom

      In progress...

And this is the petticoat i made. It's a bit out of shape because the stand is pressing against it from behind.

      In progress...

As for the appron, what shape would be nice? How big would be suitable?

Thank you guys for helping me spruce it all up:3nodding:

    9. first of all just wanted to say that i adore what you did with the lace around her neck having is go farther up gives it this Victorian feel that really matches with the long sleeves and compliments the lace there in. and the lace around the bottom just gives it the most adorable little bell look ^-^

    10. Ah thank you!:pcupcake

I've just finished a pair of ivory tights, it's starting to look better more and more. Indeed i was trying to achieve a victorian look. I am looking up victorian outfits with the approns but there are so many types to choose*_*

    11. You could also tie a contrasting ribbon at the waist, but maybe that isn't the look you're going for :)

    12. I just came from the market to get more of the ruffled lace i used on the dress, i want to make something like this:

      Apron?

I'ts kind of a pinafore, but that way i can still see the ribbons on the waist. What do you think?

(Please excuse my ipad drawing skills:sweat)

    13. Do you have any beads? rather than put too much on the dress now, you might want to add some necklaces, or put a little broach at her throat.

    14. A cute little apron with lace or maybe some ruffles instead of lace?? A pinafore would be really cute I think! Maybe a simple little flower or two stitched on to an apron would be cute!

    15. I think you could get away with not doing an apron at all, and instead opt for jewelry. I'm getting a Victorian governess feel from the dress, and I really like it. :)

    16. Maybe a laced bib, pleats on egde of skirt and ruffles?

    17. A sash at the waist and ruffled bottom would at a lot of interest!

    18. Its a very cute dress. Well done! I don't think it needs a lot more - its nearly perfect.
I would however add some small ribbon bows - one on each sleeve and a few along the bottom of the skirt.

    19. It might be nice to try three false buttons on the chest like a dress shirt to get a vertical lines to contrast with all the horizontal lines of the ribbon.
