What kind of fashion style do you typically gravitate towards for your dolls?

Nov 21, 2024

    1. Aka, how do you typically style your dolls? Do you like to dress your dolls causally or in detailed styles that aren't normally seen in real life? If you are part of a fashion subculture (egl, goth, punk), do your dolls dress that way too? Do your dolls dress in masculine or feminine styles? Do your dolls dress in regional styles as well? Do you gravitate towards fantasy characters and styles? If you make clothes, do you like to make the same style for multiple characters? Do your dolls like wearing the same things you do? Do you have a staple? Earrings? Big boots? Rings? And so on...:3nodding:

I guess it depends on the doll, but I've noticed doll owners will give their dolls a unique look that reflects themselves a lot of the time!

I like dressing my doll in more casual, artsy, and tomboyish styles... just like myself! I hope to keep crocheting mini wearables that I would totally wear irl for her! I want to expand her wardrobe to include casual pieces I see irl too. I also want another girl with long hair to make pretty in the future, but she might end up dressing similarly...:sweat I want to braid it and give her little beads and jewelry... I want my future boy dolls to have that bishounen look and be adorable! Idk what fashion they'll have yet...:XD:

(I hope I made this thread correctly! I didn't see any like it from searching and going through the catelog:abow::sweat)

    2. Since most of my dolls are elves, I tend to dress them in fantasy or renaissance faire attire. I do have a few modern outfits - especially for my small dolls that fit into fashion doll clothes - but I tend to dress them for the world I wish I could live in. Or Halloween!

    3. Right now my girl exclusively wears lolita (or her fullset). :whee: I plan to style her in punk too but I haven't found anything her size that fits the look I'm going for. Really though I'm pretty open to anything as long as it's fun and creative! I don't think I could style her in modern casual wear for that reason, but everything's on the table as far as I'm concerned.

    4. Generally my rule of thumb is I put my dolls in clothes I can't wear, which can cover a lot. I have an inclination for goth or goth adjacent clothes though.

    5. I mostly go for fashion subculture type outfits, like lolita fashion, and recently jiraikei. My one rule is it either has to be detailed, or part of a fashion subculture -- I don't really do casual ever unless its a semi-casual form of a fashion style.

I don't personally wear anything from any fashion subcultures (yet?) but I definitely dress my dolls based on the styles I enjoy seeing the most (taking their character personality into account a bit too of course). Anything lolita, gothic, punkish, etc is my favourite.

I'm not really a fan of modern casual even with irl clothes so its not surprising that I don't tend to go for that with dolls either.

    6. I mostly like to put them in fashion styles I admire the look of, but don't want to wear myself. Ludovica and her OT mini-me have a lot of jirei kei/punk style outfits.

    7. The majority of my dolls are regular humans in a normal world, and their fashion varies, but it's all mostly stuff real people would wear. I think I have more goths than any other style (probably because that's more my own style), but I also have punk, emo, rocker, 80s Barbie girl, K-pop, skater, Disney inspired, casual and probably more. I do have a fantasy world group too, though it's much smaller, and one of the girls wears only gold clothing, one is a statue and either goes naked or in very thin grey drapey clothing, and the other wears whatever fits the world/dimension/timeframe she visits. I like having a variety, it means I can usually find a use for any doll clothes I fall in love with!

    8. I love to dress my dolls in "themes" where everyone wears the same sorts of clothes but has their own distinctive style. Currently the themes are - kimono (they spend half the time wearing kimono), modern casual, modern suits, and a few of them have strayed into a dark fantasy theme. Eventually I'd like everyone to have techwear/cyberpunk outfits.

I think my dolls dress like me more than I care to admit. :sweat Not in what they wear, but how they wear it. Everyone's style is usually simple and understated, maybe a couple of layers, a silhouette that follows and flatters their body shape, very few adornments or jewellery or "extras" if they have any at all, but the fabrics usually have distinctive prints and designs. And no one wears dresses (at least, not yet), although one of the two girls wears skirts. It's a rather masculine household overall. And that's ... pretty much the way I dress myself.

I remember deciding whether I wanted my dolls to wear Japanese kimono or Chinese hanfu for an East Asian flavour, and choosing kimono because they felt simpler and more understated (and easier to handle) than hanfu. Still haven't bought a hanfu for anyone. I've tried looking at more elaborate clothing like fantasy or Western period or Lolita or scene, not to mention jewellery and accessories, to see if something catches my fancy. But my eyes glaze over and I lose interest pretty quickly.

    9. When I started, I admit I put much more effort in my dolls' clothing than in mine, but dressing them has made me more aware of what I own and wear. Still, the ones that are girls like me dress styles I'd never be brave enough to wear (a little too revealing).
Anyway, my family has two sides: (1) the human-like dolls, who all were casually like nowadays casual styles though some usually lean more into the elegant side and others into the sporty style, and (2) the anthro dolls, who wear very simple pieces (usually just one shirt/pants and no shoes) accordingly to the conditions of their planets of origin.

    10. the vast majority of my dolls are girls, and each one has her own personal style vibe for sure-- i try to make sure each one is unique and always dress them in character. my overall inspirations are a soup of couture, 90s fashion, and punk/goth vibes-- which makes sense since i myself was a black clad, green haired 90s kid who enjoyed listening to Danzig and reading Vogue. i don't dress any of them according to a specific subculture though. nobody in my collection really does ultra casual stuff like jeans, t-shirts and sneakers; their looks always tend to be a bit more dramatic/dressed up, while still generally being in the realm of things a real person could wear. i do have a couple dolls that i plan to make fantasy outfits for as alternates, since they represent characters i've created in games with a fantasy setting, but i most prefer dressing those ones in their "modern AU" looks too. i sew all my dolls' clothing for the most part, and it's a really fun way for me to engage with my long-time interest in fashion design.

    11. I mean... where does casual end and subculture start? :sweat I dress my dolls in what I'd call casual clothes usually but they do have obvious flairs and influences from elsewhere (definitely some mori, lolita, gyaru, techwear in there). They have their own distinct styles to an extent as well but usually I like them to be able to share clothes so it gets blurred a little. What I tend to avoid or pass on are formal wear and fantasy costumes but I do like a little cosplay every once and a while. I don't think it's all too far from what I'd wear myself but obviously it's faster to make doll clothes out of scraps than make the same thing for myself so I do admit living fashion through my dolls a little :sweat

    12. I usually dress my dolls regarding their oc's. I have some MNF and one of them is a witch so he has a beautiful witch dress, another one is a vampire so she has a glamourous dress, etc... The only doll than can change her style completely is my Lusion Dell since i love to change not her oc but her style. But that's because I dress her as I would dress my daughter, with cute clothes and also with dark elegant gothic clothes since I'm a gothic person in mu soul and, sometimes I still dress as i was 20.

    13. Casual as most items are easy to find in the sizes I need. If I have a hard to find clothes for doll I will then get them at least lounge wear and a nice outfit like a hakana for a boy and a kimono for a girl for meet up special outfit.

    14. My Tinies are all dressed casual, mostly neutrals or pastels. My kid said one of them looked a little emo but I don’t think she does, lol! They have a wide range of personalities, but I dress most of them like I did as a kid or other kids I knew growing up. I think the one staple is headwear, almost all of them wear a headband or hat.

      • x 2
    15. Depending on the character.

My tinies wear cute styles, with lots of colours, ornaments and accessories, school uniforms, pyjamas, etc. just like a toddler would wear.

Aya, my Una, has a very feminine and alternative style in pastel tones. She portrays a very happy and positive character. She likes to combine clothes and has a certain interest in fashion.

Milo, my MSD, has a casual style, a bit punk. He likes music and he plays in a band but he is quite sloppy and lazy and prefers comfort over looks.

Mihael, (Yes he's a Leeke Mihael lol so original I know) He dresses a bit ‘random’ stuff that doesn't really match and is very simple, as he represents a character that has no attachment to anything human, so he has no sense or interest in fashion.

    16. Fashion…whoo, boy!:sweat I’m a slave to it insofar as my dolls are concerned. I initially got into this hobby in the first place to freely explore my love of fashion. The idea that I could create a doll character to wear a certain subculture of clothing was absolutely irresistible to me. I’m an older collector, and have given up all my years of cosplay (from well before there was such a term) and historic reenactment pursuits. These days I prefer to dress solely for comfort myself, but my long fascination with fashion persists. So I went about creating characters to wear whatever category of fashion piqued my interest, and what a fascinating journey it’s been!

Of course this grew my numbers at a steady rate, and after nearly two decades I’m at 61 dolls. But It’s given me the opportunity to explore so many fascinating fashion trends…from fantasy to historic, retro, cyber punk, gothic, mori kei, lolita, steampunk, and many of the fascinating Harajuku street styles. It’s been so much fun! Every doll has a distinctive signature style, and fortunately I can draft my own patterns and sew. I have entire dressers and chests full of doll clothes. I do have one staple that was entirely purchased however, and that is my gorgeous collection of hats for my SD girls from an extremely talented artisan on Etsy. I even purchased a special cabinet just to display these treasures:

    17. So, a ton of my dolls come out gothy. I actively have to try to fight it, to have any variety in aesthetics. The black clothes come out, the black lipstick is always a temptation when I do faceups. I’m a very low-effort goth, when I’m not toning it down for corporate life. I have a few dolls who are doing a very detail-heavy white look, and my other default look is Very Pink. The pink look is almost a counter measure to the nonstop goths. Sometimes it’s pastel goth, sometimes it’s just very pink. My favourite is pairing a goth doll with a very pink doll. I own one pink article of clothing irl, but I like the look of my highly pink dolls.

I also play with gender so much with dolls. I have men in femme clothes, and women in masc clothes, and nonbinary characters who are androgynous and also nonbinary characters who aren’t. You can absolutely tell I fixated on Judith Butler in university, because I very much mess with gender presentation! I also have characters that are men on “female” bodies, and characters that are women on “male” bodies, and nonbinary characters on bodies that are usually gendered one way or the other, so the way I mess with the gendering of clothes crosses over to the way I mess with the gendering of bodies. I’m personally nonbinary, but I present SUPER femme, and so maybe that’s why a ton of my dolls don’t present in the “expected” way for their genders.

    18. I try to dress my dolls according to their characters, but one thing that seems to be a common through-line between them all is "cozy." It's hardly surprising, given that my own taste in clothing tends toward a style I refer to as "librarian chic." No matter how much I try to stay away from it, cardigans and turtlenecks manage to worm their way into each of my dolls' wardrobes.

That said, I do have dolls that wear specific substyles. In my resin crew, I have both goth/punk and country western represented. My anime girls tend to get the most variation from my wheelhouse, though, as I feel much freer to dress them in idealized, unrealistic outfits than my resins. With my resin group, I frequently consider what they would realistically wear given the weather and their lifestyles. With my vinyl girls, I'm like "Anime doesn't go by real life rules! Put them in something cute!"

    19. I wear Lolita, so I’m working on sewing a Lolita coord for my guy. But he mostly wears pretty casual clothes, it might be silly of me but I want him to be comfy.

    20. Mori, Boho, or fantasy stuff generally.

      • x 1
    21. @RinSetsua Thank you so much for mentioning Mori! I want to dress my upcoming doll in that style and I was searching for all sorts of vague stuff. I had it in mind as "loose-fitting, semi-casual Japanese style"

    22. Truthfully most of my dolls don’t have any clothes because I never get around to finding something for them! They therefore live in their boxes. I’m such a bad doll parent. :doh
Those that are on display normally have some kind of thrown together outfit.

My intention is always to dress them according to their personality or race/species as I have quite a few tinies that are meant to be fae folk, I just never seem to find clothing I like or that fits (story of my own life too lol) and I’ve yet to pluck up the courage to try and sew outfits myself. I can be very fussy!

I’d say however that I gravitate toward timeless styles (those that don’t change regardless of the decade), the more period side of gothic, boho/hippie/peasant style, earthy fantasy (such as the more neutrally coloured LoTR outfits) or down-to-earth casual with maybe the odd cutesy item. I don’t know the names of most current styles I’m afraid.*_*

Not a fan of bows or excessive frills or ruffles, never was a huge follower of fashion or what people now refer to as ‘trends’ so my dolls aren’t either. My philosophy is ‘If it suits and I like it then that’s what we go for’.

    23. I have tons of clothes that I've bought and made myself and I inevitably put my dolls in casual clothes that look comfortable. The exceptions are my witchy dolls, they're all in witchy clothes right now from Halloween. I'm bad about changing doll clothes. My Delf Ani is in the outfit I put her in the night I got her...over a year ago. Periodically I change my dolls into clothes for the weather as if they'll get hot or cold lol.

    24. The majority of my SD sized BJD are children in a huge extended Victroian family of siblings, half siblings and cosins, so they're in Victorian styles

I have a couple of late-1920s/early-1930s girls in that size and, more recently, I have added a few to wear the modern clothes i got for the Victorian gnag beofre they settled in the Victorian era.

My MSD sized dolls are similar to the Victorianesque SDs, though I have a couple of modern kids and a "50s" girl (1950s, 1850s 1750s etc).

My slim/mature minis are more middle-of-the-road modern except for one hippy girl... these dolls are mostly on their way out, however as I seldom do anythign with them.

My YoSD sized tinies are mostly classic or "old-fashioned" dressed.

Teeny tines are a mix of quirky and modern.

I have one SD sized "goth" girl, but she's part of the Victorian family - so she's in Victorian Goth (or what I think a Victorian girl might have dressed in if "goth" were a thing then (basic Victorian girl but in black, purple, and touches of red).

If i have a staple, it's Victorian style little girls dresses made from second hand cotton button down mens shirts. Each of the girls in the Victorian family has a signature colour they prefer to be dressed in but there are exeptions (Edith gravitates toward red, but her Renaissance Princess costume is green, Nesta's preference is dark reds and burgundies but her velvet bustle gown is dark green and black with red silk trim) Nerttle likes pink but I'm not fond of pastel pin so I try to veer toward lilac instead). Hannah's a tomboy who resents having to wear dresses/skirts but is pretty much stuck with them given the Victorian setting. She tends towards plainer styles of dresses. Wile her signatre colour is dark blue (with red accents), she has a fondness for beige checked pinafores because they don't show the dirt if she's climbing trees or gettign up to other potentially messyt activities with the boys.

My boys are very much the "poor-relations" when it comes to clothing options because I prefer sewing girl clothes oversewing boy clothes so seldom get aorund to sewing for the boys.

I'm a very loud dresser (mixes of vibrant colours) and live in shorts, T-shirts and Crocs, year round (unless takign part in a costume event such as a historical reenactment) I have one boy who dresses like me, but it wasn't a deliberate choice on my part - he's one of my (few) modern dressed dolls and the first time I shared a picture of him, someone commented that he was dressed like me:

    25. I mostly do typical "trendy" casual clothes, plus I'm working on having one medieval or Renaissance outfit for each of my dolls--which will take a while.

    26. Depends on what World they're part of. I have 3 Worlds and own dolls from each of them. I sew the majority of clothes for my boys. Since all I have are male dolls, none of them dress like me (female). I don't cross-dress any of my guys because none of them would dress in that way and I don't like the aesthetic. I'm also not counting stuff that is unisex like jeans and t-shirts.

Big Mystic Smoke is modern day Southern Ontario so the guys from that World wear modern clothes. Most of their stuff is also what I've purchased as opposed to made as I can't be bothered for the most part to sew modern stuff when it's so readily available and frequently not all that expensive. This is also the smallest group of dolls (11 total covering all three size categories).

The Dream Time is a sci-fi/fantasy world in the far future and is almost entirely created species of mine. 99% of their clothes is made by me and is culturally specific to each different species. Usually that means the style of a particular species is something I've mashed-up from various cultural styles of earth (the sleeves of a kimono on an East Indian jacket with pants from Victorian England for example). This is the mid sized group in my collection (12 total) with most being MSD but also an SD and 2 tinies.

Divine Worship is a very ancient past when gods freely walked the world (and I've never specified just what world that is). This is my largest group of dolls (62 total; tiny to SD). I sew almost all of their clothes and it's generally all some flavour of ancient Asian styling with some sticking to military uniforms (which I've purchased).

    27. As far as what I am gravitating towards I am loving the obsessively cute chibi type looking dolls with big eyes and full lips because they look like me. I am also wanting to branch Into the more animalistic/monster type hybrid dolls because some of them are rather cute.

    28. Definitely very consistently alternative! I usually find some way for my dolls to be visual kei or gothic!

    29. I kind of gravitate towards emo/scene subcultures for my doll styling!!

    30. My boys are character dolls who have a very ... limited wardrobe in their series canon, so I sort of go from that and then think which kind of modern clothes I can see them wearing. And sometimes also what I think would look nice and/or cute on them, even if they might only wear that in an alternative universe setting, haha. But almost everything is modern.
Haruka has a lot of tenshi kaiwai fashion or similar and primarily light colors, a lot of white and blues. I do like to give him some ... spicy and not neccesarily masculine clothes as well sometimes. Fuuta has the blacks and dark grays with the occasional red and a lot of techwear or sort of sporty fashion.
Oh, and they also have a lot of bunny and cat thematic going on.

    31. Soft, simple styles in ivories and browns and taupes, dusty greys/pinks/pastel greens. Maybe touches of Mori here and there, one girl in a 30's style, one in an evening gown. One Pierrot in black and white ( My DC Colin), one Pierrette in midnight blue velvet and gold ( the DollsTown Seol-a 7 in my pic):)

    32. I have 2 dolls now, a man and a woman, and thinking of getting one more adult and one little kid. They wear modern casual. Man - jeans, t-shirt, sneakers, hoodie. Woman has skirts with ruffles, knitted and crocheted outfits. Both have unusual number of crocheted sun hats, just because I like small projects like that. I do some stuff for my baby grandson, then use the scraps for the dolls. Or the other way round - test an idea on dolls and then do it for baby. But those clothes in general are something that anybody could sit in a cafe, do their projects on their laptops and just blend in. And then the same dolls have their modelling/acting outfits that can be anything my fantasy is capable of. Right now I have a halfway done 1950ies Breakfast in Tiffany style outfit for the woman, real linen crochet flare skirt, hat, amber bead decorations, little black dress as a base for that; all materials and patterns ready to go for a Versailles style outfits for both (just need to set up my sewing machine); thinking about and have some details for Egypt Pharaoh man and woman outfits. And I need to make a long red dress for her. Because red dresses look good on landscape photos.

    33. I remember my mom described all my dolls wardrobes as going to a fancy party every day...

      • x 3
    34. I like alternative styles such as goth and punk and subcultures within those subcultures like jirai, gothic lolita and bondage. Lots of black with white, purple and red accents. I prefer to dress boys in femme leaning outfits.

This styling mostly has to do with my doll's character being into that type of thing, but I wouldn't mind having a cutesy doll too! I have plans for another boy who is more about frills and lingerie in white and shades of pastels.

    35. Interesting how so many of us are goth enthusiasts

The short answer to the question is: I style my dolls according to how I envision my OCs in their respective stories.

I have two dolls in planning and their story is best described as The Devil Wears Prada but make it enemies to lovers

My goth OC's style is what I'd like to call "dark chic". Her wardrobe is classy, timeless, and feminine. My blonde OC in contrast, loves the flair of androgyny, and she enjoys trendy and statement pieces in bright colours.

Now if I were to talk about my fantasy OCs, many of them would need custom armour. Buying armour is an impossible feat, and if I ever want to shell those OCs, I better learn to sculpt the pieces.

      • x 2
    36. Most of my dolls wear lolita fashion. I used to wear it, until I realized I like to look at it more than putting it on (too many layers for me!). So now I've passed it onto them. I like to make replicas of dresses I used to own, so mostly Baby, the stars shine bright. I do have a couple other outfits planned, but they do still lean towards a frilly and feminine style. I don't plan to buy any dolls or make outfits that don't fit that aesthetic at this point, but could change my mind in the future.

    37. I like to dress up my dolls in casual tomboyish or punk clothes, which unfortunately can be a bit hard to find for smaller 1/6 scale girl body dolls :doh

      • x 1
    38. I used to go for gothiclolita and mori girl fashion, but recently I'm liking athleisure and casual cozy separates. I have ONE guy who wears a suit, my darling Volks Heath. Of my only other boys one dresses as a girl, one doesn't fit anything (Dollpamm Seravie) and is currently hanging out in a bra-top and lacy bloomers. Otherwise I just have girls.

      • x 1
    39. Most of them are in street casual wear, urban. Oversized shirts, long shorts or joggers, boots, or converse, a touch of bling, is how they are usually dressed. I would say their clothing is fairly unisex, it could be worn by both genders.

I don't really gravitate towards anything regional although the dolls wear more long sleeves then I do as I live in a warmer area, but I like the look of long sleeves. If I was to stear their clothing toward a fantasy element, I would like to add a touch of post apocalyptic mixed with goth elements depending on the character.

I do make the same style of clothing for all of them. I like them to fit together in the same world. I do dress pretty much the same as their everyday wear. I like to add a bit of jewelry to them, bracelets, necklaces, earrings, hair decoration, something that is completely theirs and becomes a signature staple of their wardrobe.

    40. I wear Lolita so naturally, I've collected a small bit of EGL wear for my dolls! In fact, I'd love to match coords with my dolls one day ;u;
I would also like to dress some of them in casual styles as well as edgier mature looks depending on the character. One of my girls would look so good in otome or mori kei!

Right now I have all girls who dress in feminine clothing but would love to explore more masculine looks too-either with them or with a future male doll.

I have a couple excuses for trying a ton of different styles! I do the same for myself and fashion is a big interest of mine as well as what I am working towaeds career wise. Additionally all my ocs are part of a fashion centered story that I've loosely thought about. Some are designers, some are models/influencers! I don't need these reasons to dress them up, but it's fun to feel immersed!

    43. Gosh, my dolls are all lace, lace, sheer materials in the Victorian or gothic style or epic kimonos and ancient robes.

      • x 1
    44. My dolls lean towards lolita fashion-esque items- lace, frills, lots of details. I wear that style irl though, so that's probably why.

    45. I'd describe the style of my dolls as "Urban fantasy" - typically they wear whatever people from the modern era would, BUT I also like to give them some fantasy items as well, such as swords or bows. And who cares if it doesn't make any sense, it's fun!

      • x 3
    46. I like dresses, wide leg pants and skirts because it makes it easier to move their legs around without getting caught in their joints. :mwahaha

For style, I prefer fantasy and clothes that aren’t too modern. But, I do make exceptions when I love the look. Sweaters are cute. Scarves and hats make me happy. If it has a bit of whimsy to it, I just adore it.

    47. Yes! Same here about the lace and sheer materials but instead of a Victorian vibe (not opposed to it tho!) I prefer more of a woodland vibe. I really like the morikei aesthetic that was popular a while back and it has a lot of those Victorian touches while being a little more simple.

    48. Ah that is amazing topazrain- I love the morikei aesthetic. I definitely have a few pieces that lean a bit more morikei vs Victorian for my resin crew. What are your favorite companies to purchase clothing for morikei aesthetic/style?

    49. I used to find things by Angela Studio, Volks, and indie artists on Etsy but I don't see those kind of fashions anymore. Hoping to find more on the secondhand market now!

    50. I am wishing you all the luck! Dollyteria might also have some morikei clothing too. I feel like they carry a lot of different styles.

    51. I make and wear historical-style clothing. I work professionally with clothing history and extant garments. I try so hard to not make every single doll I own look historical- and I usually fail, haha. Oops. I guess it's what I have the most experience sewing/drafting?

One of my o.t. dolls is in kind of a stylized 1868-9 look (albeit with her hair down, which would have been a no-no for adult women back then in public) and the other had an 1840s ball gown as her main outfit before I lost it in a fire- she's wearing Azone clothes now; I need to sew for her again. I've also had a minifee with a Renaissance aesthetic (I learned how to make a boned kirtle for her; that was really fun!) and my first BJD ever was in very badly-executed late 18th century dresses.

    52. I give each of my dolls a theme and an idea for a story for each of them… But, I generally lean towards historical fantasy and lolita. I cannot deny the need for more frills and ribbons!

    53. I am a big fan of fantasy styles! Whether it be a rogue or a mage, anything fantasy is amazing! Other than that, I really like the cozy, wintery look and cute, ruffly pinks!

    54. Victorian historical fantasy/lolita for sure! My SDM girl has some old-school lolita outfits and some more costumey/circusy looks, while my SD-sized girl gets more sophisticated looks like hats and full-length skirts.

    55. In general, I tend to lean to more alt styling for my dolls, though two also have historically inspired looks. It can really depend on what I've managed to sew for them, and what I can find for them.

    56. Mine wear fashion girl and boy doll clothes as Yo-sd so whatever I find. Also some of my old Barbie and Ken clothes

    57. Definitely gothic / Victorian style!

    58. Definitely varies by doll...

Vince spends MOST of his time in modern playclothes, gender neutral-- he has a couple baggy superhero tees, a few pairs of shorts. Some of his pieces are a little femme or fancy, and he wears a lot of jewelry (mostly bracelets) with anything.

Pete's modern and pretty femme, wound up leaning more preppy athletic than I thought he'd be-- he's got a pink polo shirt, but he spends a lot of time in a boxy crop top and a pair of sporty short shorts. Billy's wardrobe has become largely dinosaur-based.

Jack and Deanna each have one main outfit based on their D&D roots and those outfits are so good I haven't really bothered expanding their wardrobes (Deanna's also claimed a sheer robe that fits her and I do want to crochet her a couple things-- Jack is a lot more content to never change his clothes)

Robin is a grungier/crunchier flavor of cottagecore-- cottagecore hippie with a DIY punk twist? Her first item of clothing was a little pastel print sundress that was a lot girlier than I initially intended for her, and her second item of clothing was a really cute mushroom print corset, but I'd love to find some pants that fit her-- jeans, corduroy, cargo pants, anything-- and pair that with the corset, make her some crochet pieces. Maybe find a jacket I can embroider little 'patches' onto that can add some hard/structured lines when paired with the soft and dreamy sundress.

And Marty is going to be tricky to dress because he's got an odd sized body and a LOT of the options that exist for that size are little dresses... and I'm going to have a hell of a time finding him sneakers that really feel RIGHT, but at least jeans and tee shirts should be doable. (and since he's kind of flexibly a couple other characters... Alex I can find something 'preppy schoolboy' for and Oliver doesn't mind being put in a dress)

    59. These days? Everyday wear/modern fashion. If anything, suits or stage-wear also catch my attention a lot (I mainly have boys only).

    60. Doll style is actually something I’ve struggled with, which is weird for me because I am typically good with fashion and the kind of person that others come to for advice.

My dolls fashion is a mess though. Back when I got into this hobby I wanted to create my own outfits for them but didn’t have time to focus on this because of college. So I kind of picked up a lot of random stuff from meet-ups, Dollheart grab bags, etc.

I only ever bought a few doll outfits I badly wanted. One was from someone at a meetup, an AnotherSpace outfit I loved for years. There was also a Souldoll outfit (sadly the corset has decayed, I need to remake it).

I have a lot of items that I don’t really love.

Digressing, I like modern wear, but the pieces have to be interesting to me and colours I like. Gothic fashion definitely appeals to me, my own style has always been a blend of this, regular clothes, and dancewear. Betsey Johnson was always my favourite fashion designer — if you look up the stuff she had in the 80’s and 90s, that’s the stuff I love most and would like to create outfits similar to for my dolls.

I also like fantasy outfits but I don’t have any that are really like this. There’s a doll on the way that comes with an outfit I really love that is more fantasy, so excited for her!

Currently I have two dolls on the way and before that, I’d acquired my grail Yo-SD. I was really not expecting to get three new dolls so rapidly after returning to the hobby, because it’s been my goal to work on the clothes for my dolls. :sweat
