Casting What is a realistic result for home casting...

Jul 15, 2019

    1. Did you end up getting a pressure pot/compressor? I was hoping to try casting something at home too but seeing the trouble you had with the bubbles, not sure whether to pursue this idea.

    2. No, a proper resin casting chamber is just too expensive, and I don't want to risk using a converted paint tank.

    3. @Guavaplant If you see my post on the previous page about casting with the pressure pot you’ll see some perfect resin. I’ve submitted samples to DoA mods & they’ve approved the quality. So if you’re willing to shell out on the tank, by all means go for it: you can get pro results at home with the right equipment. I had a few failed practice runs, but can now cast almost 100% perfect most of the time.

    4. Wow, your cast turned out amazing! Thank you for attaching the link to the pressure pot you're using. I will most likely consider this when I feel confident enough to cast my prototypes. So excited but so scared haha

    5. I saw what people were suggesting and I mostly agree. Though try watching this video: the person making it talks about advice to make it less buble-y, like pouring the resin in a long stream for the surface bubbles to strech and pop and tapping & angleing the mold to make the air bubbles go to the surface and pop. Some other videos also advise poping air bubbles with a lighter if you have a big enough hole you used to pour the resin in.
