So, I found a doll from Spirit Doll I really liked, it's limited, being sold both on the websites of Dolkus and Legend Doll, which are supposed to be dealers to Spirit Doll. Only Spiritdoll.net is completely gone, which was supposed to be the official company website, and is now replaced with a baby care website. I really want to order from Legend Doll (Spirit Doll's dealer), but I'm afraid something may be off? How can they sell a doll with a company faceup that is limited, on preorder, and released 5+ years ago? Am I out of luck finding this doll from a dealer and I have to look on the second hand market only? Any info appreciated.
I'm not sure what's going on with their website, but they haven't gone out of business. Members here have received dolls in the past few months, and Spirit Doll is making social media posts.
I recall for a while that Spirit Doll's website has been kind of wonky connectivity-wise. I did a google search to look further into this; their website came up as Kids 'R Us for me, the FB page I found for them has activity from early July, and Clover-Singing (newclover-singing.com) has bjds from Spirit Doll listed for sale on their site. I would imagine that those listings would've been taken down from Clover Singing if Spirit Doll was no longer in business. My guess: Spirit Doll was either late with keeping up with payments on the website host and it was purchased by the other shop, or it got sniped by that said shop. I'm thinking they probably are still in business, but had their website lapse somehow. Have you reached out to Dolk or Legend Doll to inquire about the availability of the specific doll you're interested in? They will likely be able to tell you if they're still available or not. Usually, at least in Legend Doll's case—when a defunct company shows up in their site's listings, their subsection will be empty of listings. So, if the listing's still up, there's a good chance the doll's still available. Hope this helps!
Spiritdoll just released a new doll this month, so they're definitely still active. I'm guessing they might have simply stopped trying to keep up with having their own international website, instead relying on dealers to handle international orders for them. Unfortunately it's not unusual for dealer catalogues to be out-of-date, especially if the company isn't super popular. I would suggest shooting one of the dealers an email about the specific doll and faceup you're interested in.
So update, I found their official company website on Taobao. It's still active and they are still in business. The prices are better on Taobao than the dealer's site, so I am attempting to buy the doll from a buying agent in China. Wish me luck.
Like a lot cheaper? Be careful as there are recasters/bootleggers that sell on Toabo. I almost fell for one when I was looking around to buy my Snowdrop. I ended up going through Dolk Station but clover singing also carries Spirit Doll.
Its their official site, which was already posted by someone else in the thread. They are currently *only* on Taobao, which is difficult, because you need to use a buying agent in the US or go through a dealer like Dolk Station to get a doll from them. One of the reasons the prices are cheaper is because there is a really good exchange rate between the US dollar and the Chinese Yaun right now. Unfortunately, I have decided to use a dealer, because it's been difficult to find a buying agent who wants to wait for preorder items that take 6+ months to make.
Oh good! Whew, glad it's the legit one. SpiritDoll has really fun and interesting sculpts and someday I think I would like one of theirs in the tan resin. Love their stuff! The wait time is real. I paid in full early May, she shipped in June, and arrived on July 1st. Good luck with everything and may your shipping be quick and safe!
If you are capable of navigating taobao I suggest 42agent as a proxy service!! I use them for lolita pre-order items all the time and those take months to arrive at their warehouse as well
I managed to make a temporary account. For some reason, it won't let me make a permanent one. I can barely navigate the site, I just guess on which buttons to click on and I can basically just look at stuff, but can't order or do anything else. I only speak English. So yeah, if you call that "navigating" lol I contacted a dealer and screenshot the listings I wanted. I really can't do it on my own xD;
Yeah since they basically started moving to mobile I know a lot of people have had trouble making accounts. I don't know if this still works but this was how I was able to set up my account. How to Shop on TaoBao Shipping to the USA - The Complete Guide 2022 I disregarded the warehouse things and such since I use 42agent to order from taobao but followed the guide to set up my account.
I tried both the mobile and the desktop version. It keeps on rejecting me saying the codes for authentication it gives me are wrong, so yeah, I can't register lol
