Shopping What happened to Oscar Doll?

They are closing, they were purchased by another company I believe...although I don't know more details than that.

 

They apparently closed earlier this year. They were bought out by Swan Doll but from what I have heard, they are not keeping the Oscar Doll staff nor continuing to offer what Oscar Doll did. I am unsure what Swan Doll intends to do with Oscar Doll now.

 

What a pity! I just came here with the same question. I was hoping to buy some of their eyes. Are there any companies that make similar eyes? I've seen some lovely ones on Etsy but I'm having a massive dither.

 

The closest I have found with nice quality is SproutyDoll in the USA. Though she is closing shop right now because life has been hectic.

Mako Eyes has jewel eyes but not exactly like Oscar Doll.

 

I'm really saddened by Oscar-Doll's disappearance too. For me, the closest I've found are Legar/Lejar (not sure which is the correct name lol), which Legend Doll sells. I've never bought them so I can't vouch for their quality, though.

There's also Marison on Etsy, but again I haven't bought from them.

Their site shows everything sold out, but I don't know if they just have limited ordering periods. Some of their eyes are available at The Doll Peddlar.

 

I was really sad to hear of their demise, too. There are still a few places that seem to have them in stock, though, unless they just haven't gotten around to deleting the sales pages. Peak's Woods still has a couple of pages of them up, as does Doll Peddlar.

 

A friend recommended Soulinabox doll eyes on Etsy. I’m not sure if they make the same style of eyes, but they’re very good.

This is sad news indeed, I really love the Oscar eyes in my collection and they look so good in my dolls too.

 

I purchased those eyes by Legar/Lejar. The white of the eyes is acrylic while the center iris and such are resin. The quality is great for what they use. Nothing super fantastic or ground-breaking though like Oscar Eyes.

 

Well, I´m surprised to discover that the Oscar Doll´s website is not longer available...
I find that I can access with a strange link: Oscar Doll, where the dream comes real. but everything is Sold Out, even the Instagram account disappear...

Maybe this is nothing new for all of you, but I was a little out of the BJD´s World... and I found this pretty shocking, I thought that Oscar Doll was the one how made the "premium eyes" for Fairyland...

Anyone knows what happens?

 

I'm hoping they've just shifted to sell through others. I know there are several sites that still sell them, and none of them have a notice saying they can't get more.

 

They decided to go out of business early this year. It was really a big news to everyone for korean doll community because they were extremely popular, especially oscardolls 'real eye' series. I don't know the full details of the reason for going out of business, but I heard that it was partially due to oscardoll could not keep up with the orders.

There are some dealer sites who still carry the already made instock eyes, but if you are looking for new series, its sad to say but I think it will be hard.

Currently Swandoll has taken over oscardoll eyes, but they don't produce regularly and only sell very limited quantity of the real eye series thats only being sold in their korean website.

 

Those are sad news...
I really love the Oscar Doll eyes, and hoped to order a pair soon, but looks like i will not

 

They're hands down some of my favorite eyes too :c I'm glad I was able to order tiny pairs for my Raccoon Doll girls. The sparkle really gives them extra life.

 

Has anyone found a good substitute for their "real eye" series?
