Faceups what color for a face up i can use for white skin

Dec 2, 2022

    1. as the title says i wonder what kind of color palette i can use for my white skin male i try black kind of stained a bit.

    2. If your faceups are staining your dolls, you might want to re-evaluate your materials. With proper sealant and paints/pastels, faceups should not ever stain a doll. What materials are you using? And what kind of sealant?

    3. Are you trying to make the doll look stained or are you trying to avoid staining? If you want to dye the doll black that’s a more involved process than faceups

    4. If you're having issues with staining, it likely means your base sealant layers didn't set correctly. If you're trying to make it look like a gradient or something like that there's a few ways you can do that including dying or gradually applying layers or pastels and sealant until you get it to the point you'd like.
What kind of character is he? You could really use any kind of color palette you'd like depending on what suits the character you're making, so it's a little hard to offer suggestions without knowing more.

    5. The sealant I’m using is Mr super clear and prisms colored pencils and Fabre castle pastel

    6. trying to avoid staining the doll is my first time dealing with a white skin

    7. just looks gothic lol my sister say he looks like a corpse lol but I don’t blame her I still practicing doing the eyebrows correctly with paint can I use water color paint

    8. Make sure you use a sealant like Mr. Super Clear to protect the resin. Watercolor paint probably won't harm the sealant or resin but it's very thin and watery so you may get better color payoff with watercolor pencils or acrylic paint.

    9. I do use Mr super clear and water color pencils like prisms colors and chalk pastels too I learning how to pull off the tattoo though now I using fake mini tattoo on the doll I learn from a YouTuber

    10. Hmm if you're getting staining and you've sealed the doll before starting to apply pencils, you may need to apply more coats. How many coats are you applying before you start adding details? I've also found using softer watercolor pencils can help, because if your pencils are too hard they can scratch the sealant, getting to the surface underneath.
You can use watercolor paint, but you can also use your watercolor pencils wet for similar effect without having to mix paint.
For a gothic character, darker colors, like blacks, darker blues, and purples are ones i'd use, but some gothic styles go for the really pale base face makeup, and some just go for really dramatic eyes. I'd probably still do some contouring with a more natural toned pastel and little bits of blushing where blood flows to keep him from looking too corpselike ;)

    11. thank u for the advice i needed that i do added alot of sealant on the head i need to re-do his eyebrows i use black paint on the eyebrows (soon will buy more thinner brushes and a liquitex fluid thingy tube lol dunno the name fully makes the color pale light and blended) still saving up though

    12. What are you removing the faceup with. If you're sealing correctly and the materials are all good the only thing i can think is you're not cleaning it enough or using the right cleaning materials? Isopropryl alcohol should take the black pigments off no problem.

    13. If your layers of fixative are too thickly applied in one go, that will make them fragile because they'll be too thick to adhere properly to the plastic. You want the layers to be thin and light and add just a few, just as a base to have the pigments stick on there, then work with more layers as you need them if you're using pastels and need to build up the colors (depending on your preference and pastel's brand). If you use the fixative heavy-handedly, the layers will be too thick and will scratch easily if you're using pencils on them. Liquitex's thinning medium is called "Flow Aid," you can get some at Michaels' with their 40% coupon, if you live near one. Good luck with your face-uping learning process. (:
