yeah so i have some time off school, and i wanted to make a doll while I'm home, shes going to be a forest fairy... luckily i had quite a bit of time to meticulously plan this one so it should be a little faster I'm going to use this for my a level project in school, which should boost my marks i hope XD plan he blue is the hollow bits made of styrofoam or drinking straws, the red is solid, and green is for ball joints : ) she has a 4 part torso for as lifelike felxibility, and her knees and elbows will are peanut joints base yup, styrofoam and staws end of day 1 here she is will the ball joints done (although not yet carved) and her stomach complete. i also placed a ruler next to her, and some of the biggest things i have made priviously aswell. i'm happy with dodays progress : D picture of her stomach close up edit: i'm still not sure how pictures work here
END OF DAY 2!!!! wooo~ k so i got alot done today :XD here is how i started, a tummy rapped in cling film with a straw in it which soon became this the hip joint was probably the hardest thing i have to do, i hate that bit... i then made the thighs while that dried also i figured out the picture thing and also a hand and then the middle part of the torso was dry enough to make the chest and so by the end of the day i had this plus one left hand i also spent a good part of today buying fur, felting wool, metal hoops, cotton and elastic for bits that are not made of clay ♫
Wow !!! I am very impressed with the four-part torso. That hand is also well done. Keep going, and please post your progress often. (^_^)
this project did not go well... the clay i was useing was so brittle it couldnt even stand having the styrofoam coar hollowed out, no matter how careful i as. It broke. Alot. But i had to carry on being as it was nessasery for my a level art project... TT_TT heres the body i realised at this point that the joints were too fragile to drill, so it couldnt be strung... and to top it all off my art teacher said the face had to be disfigured to be part of the project... TT_TT i made the head and attempted to glue it together heres me trying to glue it the first time it took three attempts to get the glue to fix, it felt like even the last resort wasnt working, but heres the body glued (i think this gives you the best view of how it turned out with no obscurities) heres it all glued, including rat skull head (real rat skull) and heres the final sculpture, hair and clothes included im extremely disapointed with how this turned out, but i guess even failed experiments are good to learn from n_n; i plan to get started on my next project this weekend, as i have some magic sculpt apoxi resin, which i am now comfortable using, so this one shouldnt shatter when i touch it n_n' because the magic sculpt i have i grey, i didnt want to make an ordinary doll, and after thinking about my options i settled on robot. yknow when you jut fall for a doll, and you know its right? that happend with this desing, and i cant wait to start making her~ shes going to be approximatley 23cm, and heres a sneak peek at the desing, please give me any advice you can think of . i'll probably use this thread for the next doll too, just with a different title, so yeah :] (p.s. if she turns out well id love to try my hand at casting her, do you think thered be a market for her?)
