Well met, doll fans!

May 20, 2023

    1. Hello~

I'm Jaedian, but just Jae is fine, too.

I've been in the hobby for about nine years or so - my best friend started it when she got her 68cm boy...so of course I got a 65cm girl to have all the fashion and posing options. My doll was actually with her for a long stay, and she's finally home now...and I get to fall back in love with her all over again.

DollZone is my sentimental favorite because of my girl, but I've really digging the look of Soom and Iplehouse lately...so who knows what I'll wind up getting next? Not me, I'm just here for the ride.

    2. Welcome and congrats on getting your girl back home. I myself have been in hobby for a while and I fell in and out of love with hundreds of dolls. Now I am more careful and budget is tighter in my senior years. But I do spoil my crew when I can. Enjoy the hobby and do whatever makes you happy.

    3. Thank you!

Hundreds? Oh, wow...hearing that definitely puts my collection aspirations to shame. Still, it's super reassuring to hear that you in your self-described senior years are still collecting and, if you're here on DoA, still active in the community. It makes me feel like there's a long doll-adjacent future ahead of me, which I like.

    4. I only have like 10 dolls either complete or almost complete. The hundreds were bought and sold over the years which is now 15. But of all the hobbies I have tried my record before BJD was 4 years tops. This hobby has given me so much. Both in photography skills and in friendships. I have good friends, something I never had growing up due to moving so much.

    5. Both Soom and Iplehouse make such beautiful sculpts. I've always wanted to own a Iplehouse BJD but I know that I probably won't due to what character he/she would be. So I admire from a far. Soom on the other hand! I love their fantasy sculpts! I'm waiting for Obsidius and I own Heliot who's out for a dye job.

Which sculpts do you like from Soom and Iplehouse?

    6. Hai and welcome! Falling back in love with your dolls is part of the joy of this hobby. it'll be interesting to see who you choose next. Good luck!

    7. Welcome! I have an Iplehouse Daniel and i love him so much. I'm now thinking of getting him an older sibling from the same company just so i can feel they came from the same womb in a way. I can't wait to see who you will be ending with.

    8. I'm really happy that dolls have been the hobby to last for you; I certainly know what it's like to have interests jumping around all over the place.

(And if it helps me work on my photography game, all the better!)

    9. From Soom, I lean more towards liking the heads, so I might wind up building a man, haha. Example: Phonolus has a gorgeous face, but the fantasy body doesn't really do anything for me. Heliot also caught my eye, he's different! I also liked Aslan.

Iplehouse, right now, for a boy if I had to pick it would be between Chase and Shane, although Rex definitely has a lot of appeal, too... Stella is also very pretty; if I'm looking for another female 1/3, she would be a contender.
