66cm+ Dolls Wei Wuxian Yiling Patriarch Ringdoll

Introduction
Hi all! I'm a huge fan of the Mo Dao Zu Shi books, comic, anime and live action, and having cosplayed Wei Wuxian i feel such a strong connection with him that it justified the price for buying him!

This doll is gorgeous. I already owned two Ringdolls and I missed the first round of Mo Dao Zu Shi dolls from them because of financial reasons (not surprising though considering how expensive they are), I jumped on the chance to get this Wei Wuxian. And yes, I ordered Lan Wangji too, so once he's here I'll review.

I ordered directly from Ringdoll. Their English customer service is great and responsive. I got Fedex shipping, and he arrived within a week after I got the tracking number. Waiting time was exactly 6 months after ordering.

It is picture heavy.

BOX
First is box.

The shipment box has the Ringdoll logo on it. Handy so I knew which way was up. This box is massive, and heavy. Considering it contains a 78cm resin doll I'm not surprised. It was damaged regretfully, but not too badly.


The Box itself is a special edition Ringdoll box for Mo Dao Zu Shi! Very pretty. Regretfully a little damage because there's no protective packaging around the box.



Upon opening the box there's a sheet of Ringdoll:


And then when that is removed, you can see all items that come with the doll. While he comes assembled, there's a lot of things that still have to be done such as dressing, placing the eyes in the head, putting the wig on, etc. I'm going through everything that I received one by one in order of unpacking.

Bonus items:
First thing that I got was a special fan with two prints of this doll on front and back. The print is a bit fuzzy, so I will probably just be using this fan for fun on hot days. It doesn't feel like an item that's just for display:


And then there's an envelope. Normally it just holds the Certificate of Authenticity. It is the small creditcard-shaped card that's in this envelope. It also came with post cards and stickers. I'll probably just use those too. They're pretty.



I also got a Doll stand with this doll as a bonus item. It's enormous because it has to hold an enormous doll. You unscrew the screw from the peg and put it in the foot:


Doll accessories:
So the first thing I unpacked was the wig. It came styled so it's in a 3D box. It has a wig net over it:

Left it packed until use.

I got an instruction manual! How to dress all the layers, put in the eyes, put on the wig. Very handy.

 

And he comes with 2 sets of eyes. One grey pair and one red pair. I'll be putting in grey because he's a sweet boy okay? :P


This little purple baggie also had a comb, wig glue, basically some kind of tacky stuff. I'm not sure what it is. But I used it to glue the sideburns and the top of the lacefront. I still need to get me a rubber wig cap. It comes with velcro but I dislike it a lot. XD

The eye putty wasn't very tacky so I put some water on my fingers to get it stickier. It was a bit dry. After it was perfectly fine to use.
There were also spare lashes. He comes with lashes. But apparently I got spare.

Also a 'flute holding hand' as a bonus. He also came with a can of jointed (articulated) hands. And I decided to put these on in the end.



Then on to the flute! It's huge. XD Very smooth though. Love it.



And we also got the Tiger Amulet. It's magnetic, so you can take it apart to have two halves, or have it as one whole. very neat. It was between the clothes.



Clothes:
The clothes all come neatly folded. all patterns are embroidered. It's very cool.

 

THE DOLL!!!!
He comes nicely wrapped where the sensitive areas like face, hands, knees are protected. I'm just posting some details. There were some marks and scuffs but nothing that bothers me to be honest. The marks can probably be removed using a magic eraser.




Face:
After some trying I hope I got my eyes in nicely. XD I removed the head. There's instructions in the manual on how to do that. You open the cap, twist the ring inside the head and then you can remove it. That's also how you put it back. the make up is GORGEOUS. I love it. The sculpt is beautiful. It really captures him. I'm so happy with how he looks!!!


Dressing
I just followed the instructions, they were very helpful. The clothing is of great quality. IT's a bit tight around his MASSIVE shoulders. I think the body is a bit too buff for Wei Wuxian. But I'm very sure that Lan Wangji will come on the same body... hmm also too buff for him. But hey, it's a nicely sculpted body. He poses well.


Wig:
You have to trim the wig yourself. It's a lace front wig. And you comb it and place it with that glue I mentioned earlier. The styling is really nice! Really well done. I think it's perfect for him.



Last images and remarks:
Well these are the last images. Fully dressed, put the jointed hands on. I think he is a beautiful piece. I love his promo images, I hope that I can recreate some of the poses. But it'll probably be difficult without the proper lighting setup to make photos as beautiful as they are. Anyway, it's nice to have an overview of what he looks like from an owner.
