Water photography?

Apr 6, 2011

    1. Don't know if this question has been asked before but can you photo dolls in water say like waist deep??? i know you most likely have to take the body apart to dry it all and stuff but is there any risks to it? aso does anyone have any links or anything to photos like this?

    2. I would think the biggest factor would be what kind of water? If it's fairly clean water, like from the plumbing from your house, I don't think anything special would be needed. Just disassemble and let it dry completely and the doll should be fine.

Now if it's "contaminated" water, like chlorinated water from a pool or salt water of any kind, you will probably want to minimize soaking time. I wouldn't do it if you had body blushing or had UV coated the doll, since this kind of water could damage it and force you to redo it. After exposure, I personally would wash the parts thoroughly with mild detergent or baby shampoo and let it dry completely. I would not reuse soaked elastic at all.

That's just my common sense "gut feelings". Sorry that I don't have any links.

    3. A bunch of people have done water shoots on DoA, unfortunately I don't know where they are but you could try a gallery search. Or maybe someone else will come along who has the links ^^; Basically water is absolutely fine, but you'll have to dissemble the doll to dry it out and then probably replace the elastic.

    4. I know hiritai did a photoshoot with water: [link]
And here's one in the shower by hane: [link]

I don't know much about water photoshoots though XD I guess it's important to take the doll apart afterwards to let the parts and the elastic dry. Gaiaswill makes some good points.

    5. I'm going to go with gaiaswill on this. I've misted my dolls to make them look like they're wet from rain but I'm always careful about drying them off afterwards. The only thing I'd worry about would be faceups that wernt sealed well. Company faceups... yeah they should be fine. As I don't know what they use but they've all be a pain to remove. They're fairly resistant.

    6. awsome thanks for post :) If i ever do something involing water ill certainly take care :D but won't do anything like this till find somewhere close by that i can get some more elastic
