    1. well, it is 7 days away from August, is anyone else starting to watch the Community Celebrations thread for news....? Thinking about themes...wondering? I’m excited!
      :dance

    2. They always either go by me with no notice, or I always feel inadequate to participate. Not good at sewing, and I can't do much except photography, and my photos are okay.

    3. Yes I'm watching the forum.
I like to participate in non-competition games & just for fun, stuff. I get too stressed out with the triathlon when I tried before, so I'm going to watch and vote of course.

    4. Oh, yes! Even if I decide not to participate, I enjoy seeing everyone’s entries. I get so inspired! Maybe this years theme will be the one to get me motivated to actually work on something.

    5. I have a right to participate just for fun. I hope that themes will be interesting 8)
And I'm preparing gifts for newbies. :whee:

    6. Probably not, but who knows? My life is a hot mess right now and I need to focus on other projects.
Still...I miss working with my dolls, so I might do something

    7. Never participated before so I might try some for fun if university doesn't ruin my free time. Atleast will be following to see what people do :)

    8. I'm excited for it. Don't know if I'll participate in anything, I planned to last year but wound up running out of time. Either way I look forward to seeing what the contests are and what everyone does.

    9. Work schedule is weird, but I'd like to give it a shot if I can. Could be fun, and for me to make my dolls some stuff.

    10. Every year I swear I won't do the Triathlon, then the first contest looks intriguing so I get sucked in. :sweat

    11. I have wanted to try but I always either don't have time or get too intimidated

    12. Photo competition seems fun, especially since you are accomplished. I’m a beginner and I’ve learned a lot in the past year, I’m almost ready to start posting new results since I’m learning lighting finally. It’s very satisfying to finally feel like I’m developing my eye a bit. I’m looking forward to the photography aspects this time instead of dreading them.

I’d think your dolls might demand something, they seem quite feisty! *grin*.

I’m going to wait for the theme announcement and then see how I feel, I’ll do something for sure, just the ‘what’ is to be decided. I competed in 9th anniversary triathlon and it was amazing, stressful but overall...super. I learned a lot, had lots of fun chatting during the challenges and reading other competitors posts and seeing people cheering us on. And the entries were really wonderful, in all skill levels, it was hard to vote!

So...this year: Traditional 14th anniversary is ‘ivory’, modern one is ‘gold’ so I’m really hoping for golden themed topic. ‘The Golden Hour? ‘The Golden Boy...Golden Girls? Lol!
Since we are safely in Off Topic, I’ll mention that I did just find out the 2019 Barbie convention is in Kansas City! We spend weekends there often so we can go and it sounds like a bucket of fun. Miss B’s 60th Birthday theme is going to be Diamond Jubilee/Royal so I’m feeling that bling-type excitement!

    13. Thank you @mimimontoya that you think I am a good photographer. I do my best stuff outside in natural light, or my stories with Eddie are okay. But until I see what the photo contest is I am not thinking of even trying.

    14. They've started posting stuff!

I'm so excited. Last year, I entered every contest, won nothing, but it challenged me to learn new things and try out new techniques and ideas. I still have the shirt I made for Lakin in the 10th anniversary sewing contest--he was brand new that year, and that challenge ended up helping me develop his character! Can't wait to see everything this year. <3

    15. It's my first year back in the hobby after a decade away, and I was looking forward to preparing care packages for newbies. :D Nevertheless, the contests look fun (great theme!) and I'm looking forward to seeing the entries. :) (Much thanks to the mods for their effort and consideration for the dollmakers!)

    16. I’m really excited it’s finally time to party!:dance Over the years I’ve managed to enter two years worth of contests, but I’m hoping this year can be the third time. Looking forward to hearing more about the challenges.

    17. I'm really excited! This is my first time entering something like this, I'm sure I won't win anything, but I plan on having a lot of fun and learning some new stuff!

    18. I’m sad the newbie exchange isn’t happening this year! I finally organized giveaway stuff. There’s always next year though :) I really appreciate that we’re still having celebrations despite everything that has been happening, and I really love the “back to basics” theme as a hopeful message. (Thank you mods for all your work!) I can’t wait to see what people come up with for the sock dress

I’ve promised myself I’d be more active in challenging myself creativity-wise in the hobby, and will try to participate in all the contests just for fun. I hope everyone else will too! You don’t have to be good at something to just give it a try, so why not!

    19. I may enter this year, but I have not done much with dolls for a few years. Wondering about exactly what is a sock dress? Does that mean a single sock or a pair? Stocking or hosiery?
Hey, I guess I'm a newbie all over again :)

    20. ‘Sock dress’ used to be what many nude bald dolls got as their first clothes, the neck of the sock as a tube dress, or tube top and another as tube skirt...sometimes with the toe of the sock serving as a cap until they got a wig.

    21. Yay for lots of participation, this year is shaping up to be the kind that will hopefully do the same, challenge and inspire us. I like focusing more on a single doll.
Welcome back! I’m so glad to see other people returning to the hobby and becoming active again. My break was smaller but it’s very good to be back.
Partyyyy:fangirl: Third times the charm, right? I’ve only entered one year so this will be my second go.
Same, I doubt I’ll win but I’m really looking forward to the challenge!
I’m with you on the creativity focus. I’m done with acquisition for a while, I want to dig in with styling! Sock dress ftw!

    22. I’ve competed for several years now, and I won once ( technically the photography event, 4 years ago)! I think I’m looking forward to trying the faceup competition this year as I’ve never tried it before and I’ve got two heads just waiting for me to get motivated to update thier faceups :)
