Warning! Problem Transactions with Laidoll!

Jun 8, 2007

    1. There's already a somewhat lengthy thread regarding this in the Buying/Selling Q&A forum, but I wanted to bring this to the attention of the board in general.

I had heard of some issues with Laidoll.com prior to ordering a doll from them. However, they seemed to have cleared up the issues rather nicely, so I felt comfortable making my purchase. I ordered an Angel Fantasy Yin on 3/21/07, but the shopping cart didn't add on shipping so I emailed them with regards to this. I didn't receive an answer until four days later, at which time I was requested to use Change's personal hotmail account for transaction questions (due to switching over email accounts because of a hacking problem on the main box). I paid for the doll on 3/26/07 via Paypal and was informed that the doll was in stock, would be sent directly out to the face-up artist, and would be ready to ship by mid-April.

Communication was very prompt and helpful, and my questions were answered quickly and thoroughly up until 4/08/07 when I emailed to inquire as to the status of my order. In my estimation, mid-April would mean the doll should theoretically ship the next week. I was told that they would be on holiday through 4/11/07. I thought that was very polite of them to inform me of this.

I emailed again on 4/16/07 to inquire as to my order's status. I emailed yet again on 4/18/07 and several more times after that, all with no response whatsoever. Finally I told them that if I didn't get a reply by 5/01/07 I would be opening a Paypal dispute against them. I realize that dolls do take some time to prepare, but when all communication ceased for three weeks and there was no sign of a doll I was told would ship at a certain time, I had to cover my investment.

I heard absolutely nothing after opening that dispute on the stated day. On 5/11/07 there was a notice posted that Laidoll received no emails from anyone due to their email boxes being deliberately damaged. This was the same reason they switched over their original email some four months previous. They stated the dolls would be shipped out 'this month'. I wasn't very comfortable with this for a few reasons -- one, that was potentially an extra two and a half weeks added onto an already bloated timeline, and two, I was using Change's hotmail account exclusively and there wasn't any word that the hotmail box had been hacked/damaged. On 5/20/07 I escalated the dispute to a claim. Even after filing a claim there was no response whatsoever. I was awarded a full refund on 5/30/07.

I would caution anyone considering purchasing from Laidoll.com. At the moment I don't believe it's possible to purchase from them at all, but when they do reopen I would be careful with regards to communications. I would have been perfectly all right with a delay had I been informed of the cause and given a rough timeline as to its resolution, but the complete and total lack of communications or any reasoning did nothing to build any faith in the company's business practices.

I know there are at least three other people on the board who had similarly bad transactions, two of which are still waiting for their dolls two and a half months after ordering. I won't say to not purchase from Laidoll.com at all, but I would definitely urge caution and be aware of past issues.

    2. I have to agree with Taz. I am one of the people who are still waiting for 2 (AF Yin and Lily) dolls which were ordered from laidoll back in March. This was a joint order between Kaga and I. So, $530 was the total order.

As Taz said, the shipping was never added to the order, well neither was mine. E-mails were sent to Change and she got back to me soon after saying to just send the shipping in a seperate transaction. After laidoll recieved the shipping I was told that the dolls will be shipped out mid-April. After that e-mail, all communication with Change or laidoll was non-exsistent. The dolls never showed in either April or May.

The only notice that I (and everyone else) was given was the message on the main page of laidoll.com stating that they never recieved any e-mail from anyone stating that their inboxes were 'damaged'. I have e-mailed Change on her personal hotmail address which was never stated as being damaged (she still also uses that e-mail on her current e-mail auctions), and I've also messaged her though ebay, but have not got a responce back.

I never filed a dispute with paypal, and my time to do that has been way over. The order was paied though a credit card, so i do have a change to get my money back that way if needed to, but i'm not gonna file anything yet.

Right now you can not buy anything from laidoll.com directly, but Change is still selling Lily on ebay. As of now, I don't think I would ever buy from laidoll.com again (even if they do come back). The lack of communication has really thrown me off to this company. The dolls are lovely, but if anyone else ever wants any dolls off of laidoll.com...order with caution...

    3. My story has pretty much been told on Tez's linked thread but I'll sum up here. I ordered a Yin in January. I even asked ahead how long it would be because I wanted him here before I was unable to recieve mail for a two week period. I was told there would be no problem getting him there, that it shouldn't take over a month. So I ordered.

At first communication was prompt. I asked for a certain face-up artist and was told that was fine, asked about shipping and the question was answered. So three weeks or so went by and I asked for the status of my order. I was told they were a bit slow because of recent issues (their English translator being in the hospital, I believe) but that mine was being processed.

So it got to be...late Feb. or early March. Every email I sent was not answered however when I threatened to file a paypal claim there was an instant response. I should have at that point just filed a claim and been done with it but I was stupid and believed they were having delays.

Another email and I got two emails with conflicting information. The laidoll email said that my boy had just finished getting a face-up and would be sent out the next week. An email from Change, however, said that the face-up artist hadn't even started on my order.

Once I was passed my paypal date to file a claim, all communication stopped. And when I was about to get legal authorities involved, the doll arrived in a rather battered box. This was the day before I was leaving the area and wouldn't have postal mail. If I hadn't been home, he would have been sent back.

After all that drama, I turned around and sold the doll literally a week after I got him.

It's sad to see that a company with such a good reputation when down so fast. First they started overcharging for shipping and then they just stopped filling orders. Now I guess it's a good thing they've shut down but if they come back, I wouldn't order from them again.

Hope everyone who is still waiting gets their doll or their money back.

    4. I ordered 2 dolls from LaiDoll back in February.

For whatever reason, my order never showed up in their system, but I e-mailed them what I'd ordered, and the order number that I got, and I did eventually get my dolls~

They do take a long time to reply though.... I think I sat around for 2 weeks waiting for shipping confirmation, before I e-mail them again and finally got a reply. (I was worried the entire time that I'd never get my dolls!)

I did get them in April though (it does say faceups can take up to 45 days to complete?) so I don't have much to complain about but communication. ^_^

    5. The website did indeed say up to 45 days for a faceup to be completed. However, I and others were specifically told when our dolls would ship, then all communication ceased and the dolls were not shipped when we were told they would. On top of that, their website message after the 'hack' incident said all packages would be shipped out "this month". That was 5/11/07, and as far as I know the two people who were in the same situation and lost the chance to file disputes -still- haven't gotten their dolls.

Lord knows I wouldn't have minded waiting the extra time if I'd just been informed of delays.

    6. It's June 30th now...and I still have no news about the status of the dolls I had ordered from laidoll...I've tried messaging Change though ebay, but its useless, she never replyed to any of my messages...T_T

    12. hey i just wanted to say when i went to laidoll.com i got 2 virus popups from my anti-virus software each saying they were from laidoll.com... not very safe sounding *_*

    13. I don't know if it's too late to post in this topic, i'm sorry if I shouldn't revive dead topics :( I just wanted to talk about my bad experience/my friend/s with Laidoll.

My friend saw this 200$ full set doll on Laidoll and wanted to buy it. She gathered up her money and gave it to my boyfriend so he would pay via his Paypal. The payment passed and everything seemed ok. Though we paid, we got NO tracking number either.

two weeks later, my friend comes to me telling me that she cannot contact the people from Laidoll and that their website disappeared! Hearing that, I posted a thread on DOA on 04-07-2008 ( http://www.denofangels.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=207045 ) to ask for advice on what I should do. Some members PMed me with contact information and their story about Laidoll.

I never was able to contact anybody, I never ever got a reply from the Laidoll ppl. Being told that it wasn't the first time that the website and the people of Laidoll disappear, my boyfriend opened a dispute. We waited, but no sign of the doll or any contact from the person.

At last resort we upped the dispute into a claim and ultimately won my friend's money back. But NEVER did Laidoll contacted either me or my friend!

I feel very sad for my friend has it was her very first doll and she can't have it because she got scammed.

So I just wanted to post this here on her behalf.
