Sewing Wanted: Playboy Bunny Suit Pattern

Sep 23, 2019

    1. I have a concept that I'd like to create: a punky version of the classic 'Playboy bunny' costume/Playboy club uniform. Problem is, I can't find a pattern for a strapless bodysuit (the top will probably need to be held up either with fashion tape or some clear straps). I'd like to use non-stretch fabric, preferably costume satin to match the look of the vintage ones.

I'm planning to use a Minifee active line girl body with the small or cutie bust piece. It doesn't need to be nearly as detailed as the example uniform below! It's just provided for show. I am absolutely not qualified to sew 1/4 scale ruching, rofl.

      My concept:

Thanks for any ideas or help you can give! I'm not opposed to just buying one either, but it'd be fun to try making one myself.

    2. How about modifying an existing corset pattern Minifee Corsets & Bustier.

If the pattern is not what you need, maybe try looking out for the BJD corset tutorials - especially how to make a bodice pattern using a masking tape (something like this one: ~Patterning and Sewing a Corset~) and add the crotch area as well.

    3. This is what I would recommend too. I was going to say maybe modifying a one piece bathing suit, but if you want the more solid fabric, I think the corset style patterns may be better.

    4. Thanks guys! I love DGRequiem's patterns. I was hoping to find a readymade pattern but adapting one of hers shouldn't be impossible.

    5. She is pretty awesome and sometimes asks for recommendations on what her next pattern should be so you might be able to bring it up too. I know the facebook group also has a lot of good seamstresses on it and have offered help on alterations of her patterns too so that might be an option to help as well!
