Wanted: medieval armor patterns for Older Delfs or standard SD size

Aug 9, 2023

    1. I'm in search of preferably armor patterns or anything from the 1400–1500 ce era for a few of my dolls. I found one so far, but its MSD size and I have no idea how to scale it. Anything at all helps, just keep in mind that I hand-sew at the moment since I don't own a sewing machine.

Okay! Firstly, there are dozens of cosplayers who share templates on Etsy for armor! They can be printed at any scale. So what you do to start is take the dimensions of the item you're going to scale and the dimensions of the doll you're scaling it to. Pick whichever measurement on the doll is largest, and use a percentage calculator online to find out what percentage of the original same measurement the doll is.

Example! I had to scale a doublet from EID to Minifee. I scaled to the neck size because if I scaled to the chest or shoulders, the neck would be too small. Calculator said the Minifee neck was...I don't actually remember. Let's say 66% of an EID neck. (If you're going to the measurement of the garment instead of scaling from doll to doll, add a couple percent for leeway.) So I printed my pattern at 66% size, and cut down the shoulders a bit so they wouldn't be ginormous. If that doesn't make sense, I can try to make a pattern scale tutorial in the workshop.

That said, NightMarketBJD and DollsFancy on Etsy both have SD-sized armor pieces, plate and leather respectively. I've never asked if either will do custom work, but they might have something you like!
