Anyway, Taki was very smitten with her. Nava already has a foulmouthed Four Sisters girlfriend who flips people off (Kellyhime's Megu, Kaga), so Taki was stoked to find one of his own.

 

@JennyNemesis, yup, that's my potty-mouth Little Tabitha! She enjoyed picking on Taki, since I was too lazy to get a Yo-Shiro of my own

Since it's non-Volks, I didn't bring her favorite SQLabs hand to Dolpa, which my BF calls "the a**hole hand".

 

Which one is that, the 'ok' hand? It does have a few different uses, but that's the first I've heard it called that. xD Nava also uses it as a guitar-playing hand because it looks like he's holding a pick between thumb and forefinger.



But naturally, since they're headbangers, the Devil Horns hand is their favorite. Go SQLabs! xD

Taki can belch and curse and flip strangers off with the best of 'em. The boys are just always so stoked to meet girls who share these interests! Tabitha's pink kitty slippers were the coup-de-grace, though; the only thing that would've made it more perfect is if she had an actual middle-finger hand.

 

I am definitely going to have to go look at the SQLabs hands. I love that old PukiPuki rude hand.

So I keep looking at volks yosd's I love how cute they are and their cutie little hands. Their simple yet, have good joint system. For some reason I can't seem to make the jump and buy one. I keep thinking about getting a Dollsbe, because of their joint system but I can't make the commitment because I keep thinking about a volks Yosd. Do you think I'd regret getting a volks over a Dollsbe?

 

I have personally never regretted a Volks Yo purchase, and I've made plenty of them. However, your mileage may vary.

 

In a word, no! I have 27 Volks yosd and yo tenshi and I love every single one of them. There is just something special about how the Volks dolls feel-they practically pose themselves. You at least need to try one, in my opinion!

 

I have 3 yosd's and I love them! When I got my first one, I only had larger dolls and I fell in love.

 

I have (and have had) all sorts of 1/6 size dolls and I must say that I adore my Volks girls. I have 2 and a 3rd on layaway. I love their faces and their hands, so very child like.

 

I used to own a Volks Yo-SD Chika a couple of years ago. Whilst I didn't end up bonding with her sculpt, I still have a fondness for Yo-SDs. They're so fun to pose and dress. So I don't think you'd regret getting one. Which Yo-SD are you considering of buying?

 

I really think that will be something you'll find out on your own.. I know I had a hard time making the decision to get a Yo-sized BJD because I'd gotten really used to the large sizes. I ended up going to a meet where I got to see Yo's up close and decided it was worth a shot. Now it's my preferred BJD size because they're so portable/poseable. Maybe it's a matter of seeing them in person if you haven't yet?

 

Just a question ! I'll receive a Chika body (For a future 4 Sisters) but, it's the case I can't offer her, do you have any ideas for the head I can put on it ? (I saw a Mia Baby Lamb on it, but I think I can forget ! xD).

 

I have a Yo-SD Hinata coming home!! I won one on Yahoo Japan. I'm so excited. Yay!! I saw a twin pair of them in Bangkok in 2009. Back then I thought they were adorable but I forgot what sculpt they were. So that's why it wasn't 'til now that I realized the cute Yo-SD twins I saw in 2009 were in fact Hinatas.

Can anyone tell where Volks sells the Yo-SD hands? I tried looking on their website but I can't find them. Do they only sell them at special events?

 

Congrats on your Hinata! She is my absolute favorite BJD-I have had mine since 2009. Not sure where to get the hands, but I'm sure someone can help you out!

They're slightly pinker than Volks NS resin, but generally a fine match. And they're all so adorable. I need to go on another option-hand binge... Nava and Taki only have, like, 9 pairs of hands between them, so they could always use a few more.

 

Is your Chika body the first or second release? I have a Volks Chika (2014) and I have a Volks Kakeru (2010) - the skin tones still match, though my Kakeru is slightly yellower in comparison under certain lighting. But for other skintone matches, I've heard Angell-Studio's normal skin urethane can work among other choices. If it's regarding the head to neck fit, I believe it varies between head molds. You could always mod the neck or head to make it fit though

The Chika body is the one sold during the Dollpa 23 in 2010. But I'm lucky because I finally made a deposite for my grail doll (Nana) ! So yep, I have a additional body but I sooooo happy !

 

I need to brag a moment. Opal sent me an amazing surprise. I'm so in love with her. I love when trades work out so well. She still hasn't told me her name. Hopefully soon!

 

Momocolor heads work well on Volks bodies, I had my Lucy girl on a Volks body (until it got claimed by the Nono head I adopted) and it was a great match.

 

I finally got Taki into the rest of this Volks outfit that he stole the boots from. Turns out that the clothing part of it is pretty cute, too. :3 I wish they'd do more Yo-size sets like this!

Aw thanks! But his only defaults he's wearing are the wig, shirt, black vest, and white belt. Bought everything else while I was in Japan. Well.. the second belt belongs to my SD13 Tsukasa... It's supposed to go around Thack's neck as part of this steampunk set - but Rowan thought it was another belt he could use.

Your boys are super handsome If only I could bring my boys to meet yours, we could make a mini Tokyo Shounen reunion of sorts!

 

I never considered that a SD13 collar might be repurposed as a Yo belt! I'd been trying to repurpose MSD-sized accessories, but since Yos are SO small, it makes more sense to just go for the double-sized ones and wrap them around twice.

I'm not going to Japan any time soon, but somebody somewhere surely makes stripey hoodies for Yo boys. That's something that should be in everyone's wardrobe at all sizes. ^^

I'm a bit confused about Yo-Midi. Is the Yo-Midi body different from a regular yo-sd? Is there anything that makes Yo-Midi an improvement on Yo-sd? why is volks coming out with Yo-Midi's ?

Yo-Midis are confusing. The SD-Midi body is an updated MSD (updated except for the hands & feet). The heads are 'intended' to fit both Yo and Midi/MSD. The dolls come with the head on a Yo body-- with the idea that you can swap it for a Midi body later if you want.

But I don't think Volks offers a trade for the bodies, or a special order form or anything, do they? I think they just leave it up to you if you want to put it on the midi body later. From what I've seen, those big heads look way better on an SDC body.

It also seems sad to me that if you buy one of the beautiful LE sets, like the pirate boys, and you change the body to a Midi, you're stuck with that gorgeous outfit in a Yo size that you can't use at all. ;; If they really wanted those heads to use different bodies, they'd offer you a choice of body when you ordered! (Of course Volks just doesn't roll like that.)

 

I see yes odd. They should offer a SD-Midi (MSD) body option, but I guess adding another box or another order option.
YES and the problem with the full set outfit! they should offer two options... urgh volks!

I got confused because I saw PINOKO the new volks release and the head didn't look over sized, I like the doll. I am not keen on the oversized head thing I have seen on the Yo-Midi.

What do you think does it look over sized to you? (YES, after thinking more I should as that is what they are offering it should fit on the larger body and not be too small looking!).

Hum! So I would need to buy a new body (more money!) if I didn't like the big head. That adds a whole new level to buying a doll ! I guess I better start imagining her as a MSD sized and think if I want that just in case.

No, Pinoko's skull doesn't look quite as egregiously huge as the pirate boys & the Devilman-and-Satan guys. Maybe they're figuring out the proportion thing as they go along. Or maybe her hair is providing camouflage, can't tell.

The bestlooking Yo-Midi pirate boy I've seen is that SDC Williams. There is a whole thread for Yo-heads-on-Mini-bodies somewhere around here.

Oh! I didn't know that. Now that makes sense (sort of) why the pirate heads at the Volks con looked so badly out of proportion!! They looked pretty strange as Yo's.

 

I agree. It just looks odd to me, I'd rather have them be straight Yo scale (or just put them out as Midis and be done with it rather than making people buy a second body...).

In happier news, one of my most grail-y grail dolls arrived today...a Hinata! I'm so excited! I will get pics up tomorrow, since it's pretty dark here now. It was a great end to a not-so-fabulous day.

 

Yes, with those big mature faces, I think they should've just made those guys Midis or SDCs and had done with it. The bedroom eyes on those boys, it just looks kinda jarring on a Yo body to me. ^^;;

I myself just scored a Yo-Tsukasa on YJ, so if the sale all goes well, my chibi headbangers' ball will soon be a trio! I had to shell out a bit more than I did for Taki, but that's what I get for waiting this long after the event. Anyway I was just happy to find one, because it's not like he's gonna get easier-to-find as time goes by. Must! have! all! Tokyo! Boys!

@JennyNemesis - Yay for more Yo-Tsukasa - congrats!! Mine just arrived home recently, but as I'm out of the country at the moment, I've yet to see him. Getting on the plane today, so I can't wait to go home and do a box opening this weekend. Will definitely be posting photos once I've taken some, and Rowan will just have to give up the belt he stole... which makes sense, since he originally stole it from my older Tsukasa and now it's going to the younger Tsukasa. o__O;;
