Volks YoSD and YoTenshi Discussion part 7

Jan 3, 2015

    1. Anyone have more spam of Mai, Mel, and Nico? I managed to get Mel and Nico; now I'm hunting for Mai at a decent price. Nico is my favorite and she needs her sisters!

      Then I'll have four Yo-SDs. Oops! :)

    2. She is adorable, I love how you styled her and those little red shoes!

    3. Here are my Mai and Nico!

    8. I have been keeping an eye out for the perfect Volks to add to my other YOSDs (mostly Littlefee) and this one popped up for sale recently and.. she was for me.

    16. Hi everyone!
Does anyone happen to know the average price for a Yo-sd directly from Volks? Second hand prices seem to vary a lot :'D

    17. Usually purchasing a Yo directly from Volks involves entering and winning a lottery, as Yos tend to be limited and only available through Dollpas. The pricing varies depending on what comes with the doll, resin color, etc. Lulu/Rick in 2020 were $450, but were white resin. The 15th anniversary release in 2021 (Mai, Mel, and Nico) were $400 each, but the recent Bluebird release (also white resin) looks to have been over $500.

      • x 1
    18. My YoSD Kanon was about $550 including shipping (approximate. I don’t remember what the currency conversion was back then and I bought her off the international site so paid in yen).

The initial YoSD 4 sisters were 37,000 yen. The anniversary release of Yo Megu was 46,000 yen. (Both not including tax etc)

They can vary quite a bit depending on the details and what is included.

    19. Air - I got the most recent yosd, blue bird. He was $470+tax+shipping. He came with a wig and outfit. Yosds started in the $300/$350 range, but have been increasing with up each release. Some often did not include an outfit. Also, some yosd have been released multiple times and are not as rare as others, who might have been released once.

It all depends on which yosd you are looking for.

    20. Got it, thanks for the help everyone! I guess that explains the very different prices I've come accross :')

    21. Interestingly, Mel/Mai/Nico also came with outfits, but were on the lower end compared to recent Yos. The earlier Yos I got from Kerby Lane all ran in the 350 range, but they came with minimal (if any) clothing other than chonies. In recent years they've have had full outfits with shoes and sometimes hats.

    22. I have a new kiddo to introduce! :D:aheartbea

I found this adorable Kakeru on the DOA Marketplace and couldn't stop visiting him. Finally, I caved, and after speaking with the very sweet seller, was able to bring him home! Surprisingly, he's still searching for his name and identity. None of my dolls are really human, and all of my tinies tend to lean mythological/fantasy, across different cultures. Clearly I will just have to interract with him for a while to find out. :daisy

      • x 7
    23. Congrats Eri! He looks super cute!
I havent introduced my kid here yet, he's almost done, but I too am missing that "fantasy" part of him <3

    24. He's very cute. My Kakeru has a very mundane name, his name is Daniel.

    25. Hello) I am newbie’s with yo-as size, but very interesting cuz they very portable (compared to SD guys). Probably want some small girl for myself.
I have probably weird question. If volks yosd kids really that tiny and fragile ? On picture they looks very pocket size)
Also, if they have any problem areas? Like wrist ball for example? I have damage wrist ball for my SDM girl before. Since that happens for me only SD boys looks solid enough for really playing time with out scared each movement, smaller size seems too fragile. But I never hold or seen folks yo-as kids..))

      • x 1
    26. Hi! I have two older YoSD and I don’t think they’re very fragile. I’ve never damaged any of my dolls but Volks seem pretty sturdy in general. The YoSD seem to stand pretty well! My boy stands better than my yo tenshi who wants to tip at the ankles for some odd reason.

    27. Oh, thanks for answering)) you mean older yosd which have two part torso and single joint arm and legs? I goggled some information about, and found that this is the only body yosd always have? Boy or girl no matter, they same size, right? Also I see on Google solid torso body and body with double elbows arm. That all I found))
And how about their wrist part? Solid enough? Not too thin wall of this tiny part? I afraid if that cracked very hard to found replacement:((

    28. Volks Yo SD and Volks dolls in general are very solid, all their parts are solid and heavy, they are truly very well made dolls <3 Their wrist part is very solid to me too, compared to other dolls from different companies.
However I do not own the double elbow arms for YoSD myself, but I do have Volks dolls in SD size with double elbows and they are pretty solid and thick to me, what I really love! <3

I think you will be very pleased when you have a Volks dolls and will not be disappointed at all, in fact after having one you will probably will have another one XDDDD

      Good luck! <3

    29. Thanks)) probably I just have to try))) that very unusual for me to purchase doll with out seeing how she looks in reality)))

      • x 1
    30. Guys, if someone can explain, how many type of body’s existing right now? And which most newer? I see Mel and Niko girls and they have double jointed arms (elbow). This is the new one? I thought if I send body to exchange service from some old yosd which body I received back? The same or newer version?
      Thanks in advance

Here is an updated portrait of my Lenwë since I modded his ears and gave him a new faceup. I want to make him a little circlet as well.

      He is a Kuuta :D

      • x 5
    32. The ears looks amazing!! what did you use to mod them?

    33. Thank you! I used Tamiya epoxy putty since that’s what Volks stocks in their webstore. :)

    34. I got my first Yosd, Neon the Mouse! I was looking for replacement hands but they seem to be a bit difficult to find
Does someone know if there are other company Yosd hands that fit Volks Yosd in and resin color? Neon is PS fair but I'll also get a Megohime who's PS Normal

      • x 1
    35. Congrats! I have a Kanon mouse and they are absolutely adorable.
I haven’t found any hands that work with them outside the Volks hands, but there are other hands floating around from limited releases etc.

    36. SQLabs makes hands for Yos. There are so many Volks hands though. What pose are you trying to find?

    37. For some reason I forgot SQLabs lol

    38. I mostly see only the nakayoshi hands in normal skin on 2nd hand pages... If you know a good place to look please let me know! I'm not looking for specific poses, I just want a few more hands :whee: can't remember seeing fair skin yet though

    39. YoSD options hands in both NS and WS pop up regularly on Mandarake and Y!A, I've seen most poses pop up at least a few times.
Sometimes you can find them on the DoA Marketplace as well and there are a few offered regularly at Tenshi no Sato so a proxy would be able to pick some up for you.

    40. I was told WS is different than fair skin though? Was that wrong?

    41. WS is just that -- White Skin, and Fair is what was previously referred to as Normal Skin/NS.

Chibi_Rat was just letting you know that Volks makes both colors, depending on the resin color of your Volks doll. (So far, Volks YoSDs are made in just those two colors; no tans.)

      • x 1
    42. Sorry, I meant to say "NS" not "WS" but I guess I just got confused in general because Neon is listed as fair and Megohime as normal
Good to know fair and normal are the same, thank you, that makes it so much easier looking for hands

      • x 2
    43. No worries, it can get confusing with the naming change and all that.
I hope you're able to find some hands for your Neon soon! :thumbup
Option hands are one of my favorite things about the YoSD size in particular, I love popping the more fun poses like the peace hands on Yumeko (my YoSD Megu) for some random photos.

    44. Oh, wouldn't a tan Yo be adorable? If wishes were fishes....

      • x 3
    45. Wouldn't it!!! About the only way might be Dream FCS, which is a dream in itself to win the chance to do that *sigh*.

      • x 1
    46. I am quite surprised Volks has never done a tan skin YoSD. They have offered a tan color resin in practically every other line of dolls (via LE or FCS)... except Yos! I hope maybe one day they will consider it outside of Dream FCS.

Popping back in because I purchased YoSD SwD White Rabbit and a YoTenshi SwD Mamu~ <3 I feel like I restarted a dangerous addiction. It doesn't help that with the yen exchange, and general drop in price of 2nd hand volks dollies... YoSD are so affordable now!

      • x 6
    47. Unfortunately for we Yo enthusiasts, it's historically been challenging obtaining them, and it wasn't really that long ago that they branched out into white-skinned versions. Hopefully it won't take as long as it did for that to occur. Having Yos available on FCS options (even occasionally) would be wonderful.

Congratulations Dybbuk, and yes, Yos are a dangerous addiction for certain, especially for one's wallet. ;)

It took me over a year to finally be able to bring home my very first Yo, an Anne, Heather. She traveled with Fee and I that entire summer/fall.

    48. @clochette : If they had a YoSD FCS system that would be amazing! It would be so fun getting to mix and match resin colors and heads/hands/bodies. :) Ugh, we can dream!

Your cute little Anne is precious! She looks very content on your travels!

A picture of my sleeping Yo's. I really have a thing for the Sweet Dream type dolls. Actually, quite serendipitously, a friend of mine offered her sweet Yo Jun Tachibana to come live here. I'm so excited. She should arrive any day now~ Can't wait to repaint her~

    49. Oh my! That would be a dream come true! I’ve always wondered why Volks doesn’t seem to have the same love for Yos as the other sizes. Not just the dolls themselves, but having more variety of clothes and shoes for the Yos would be nice too.

    50. Tabbykittie, from my experiences with the Volks crew, I don't think it's a lack of love...my guess is that it's more likely there is a smaller delta between design/manufacturing cost and price.

Dybbuk, your kiddos are adorable..I have both of those sculpts, but in open-eyed versions. I've never been able to warm to the dreaming sculpts, so all of my kiddos are "awake". I also have a Jun, she's a happy little sculpt, we don't see her very often. Kennedy is glad another will be joining the forum.

    51. @clochette, my YoSD Jun, Quinn, says hi to Kennedy! (The special Jun hand is useful for holding a lollypop, lol.)

I feel as if YoSD Jun is an underappreciated sculpt; @Dybbuk, post pics when yours arrives! More Jun love, please :3nodding::D

    55. Hopefully this is an okay question-- where is everyone buying and selling yos these days? I feel like I've only seen the same few moving around the marketplace for a while.

    56. @WindGuardKT
I've seen a few on Y!A, Mandarake and Dollyteria.
Posting a WTB would be helpful if you're looking for a specific one.
