Volks YoSD and YoTenshi Discussion part 7

That's my boy Dumpling cosplaying famous person from the Chinese drama series. This doll is 15 years old, the oldest in my collection, and I still love him. As you can see he is YELLOW, but it doesn't bother me at all. And I'm lucky person, I don't want to buy more of them, looking at others' dolls is enough)).

 

Hi. I was just wondering if anyone is trying for Lulu or Rick. I’m thinking about Lulu but I haven’t decided yet.

 

I think in all the promotional photos that Volks released of Rick and Lulu, there's something off about their faces and heads. To me they look like tiny bobble headed aliens....lol. More the Lulu than Rick. The Rick looks closer to the traditional Volks doll look. My theory is Volks knows they look weird which is why they turned the yo's heads to the side or 3/4's in the pictures.

But this is coming from someone who has a yo-sd Kira, Megu, and Una......my bias might be showing a bit.

 

To me, she looks much more childlike than many of the others but not bobble-headed. I think what you may be seeing is the squarish face shape, which makes the head look wider than it likely is (Nono has the same wide jawline). Usually they have more of an oval face shape. Lulu's promo pic on the Kyoto 17 page actually has her facing straight ahead.

I recently was able to get a Kanon because I wanted a sweet Yo girl and she's so cute

 

Very pretty girl! She looks very innocent.

 

For some reason yosd Rick has been restocked on the Japanese website so I just ordered him But I'm a little bit confused, wasn't he supposed to be a lottery only doll? Or maybe not enough people entered to win him so Volks is selling the leftovers?
Either way, I'll be posting some photos once he's home

 

Hello! Here is my little Lenwë, a very old Kuuta who I love dearly. A past owner of him sueded the joints expertly with probably moleskin and he poses amazingly.

 

So I've just received my YoSD Rick and I must say that I'm positively surprised by the quality of his face up! It looks so delicate and beautiful in person, much better than on the photos from Volks. There is a lot of red/pinkish shading around his eyes, I tried to capture this in my photo but I'm not sure if I did succeed.


And I'm in love with the double-jointed elbows, they pose so nicely Definitely a huge improvement over the older, single-jointed YoSD body.

Oh, he is just stunning! I wasn't sure about the white skin, but it suits that cute little faceup so well!

 

@Vakarian His white skin compliments his face up very well, although I must say that Volks Pureskin White is very white in person Not that I'm complaining, I was looking forward to having a doll in a different skin tone than my three other Volks dolls in Pureskin Normal.

On a different note; his head circumference is 18cm and I find it a bit difficult to find a wig for him that doesn't look bulky. Does someone maybe have any recommendations?

@CathyM I've ordered him from Volks Japan, shipping was ridiculously fast. It took only 5 days for him to arrive!

It's great to see a Rick in person! I got an email from VolksUSA that says it'll be later this month because of delays shipping from Japan, so I have a little longer to wait. Still, it's only been just over a month, so I can't complain.

Is there a way to buy YoSD size dolls directly from Volks in the US? Their volksusa site only has SD and MSD sizes.

Just wanted to pop in to say that I'm bringing home my 3rd Yo. My little Rinon and Kira will be joined by Kanon in a few weeks, hopefully. I'm also really enjoying seeing everyone's Rick and Lulu. I feel temptation tugging at my heart strings now that owner pics are coming in.

 

I have a new arrival! I must say, this is one of the nicest fullset outfits I've ever received. The colors are beautiful, and the fabric has a sparkly sheen to it. They even included a pair of chones for her! Well, at least now one of my kiddos has them, we tend to be nekkid-hiney land here in the Troop

We haven't decided on a name yet, I'm thinking maybe Charlotte or Emma.

I've switched the default wig of my YoSD Rick and he looks so soft and gentle now, yet I'm not sure if this is really the look I'm going for with his character

I was able to get Mai and Mei in the lottery, and then Nico via an auction. I think we'll receive the ones from the lottery in March, if I recall correctly, but Nico is currently on her way here. Once she arrives I'll post pictures.

 

I will be passing on all three girls, but I think they are all super adorable. I especially enjoy Mai's little teeth and Mel's little nose.
