@elfy016 Thank you! I actually took advantage of the faceup reapplying service at the LA dolpa and Volks of course did a lovely job.

@beamlette Travel sized is right! She's the only doll I have that's easily portable. Her big sisters were hard to fly with and the TSA inspector swabbed them

@clochette Your nono is so cute! I love the look of the black wig and outfit with those bright blue eyes!

 

Thank you! She's a mischievous one, my Brandi. I was so happy to be able to bring her home, Nono was the face that hooked me on BJDs in the first place.

I love taking the Yo girls on trips, they're the perfect size.

@clochette she's darling! I don't think I've ever seen a Mimi before(or it's been a REALLY long time).

 

I don't see her often either, which is a shame. She's such a sweet sculpt.

Feeling moody and discouraged by a bogged attempt to acquire an MSD body for my Yo-Midi Reisner, I’ve decided to come into this Yo-SD thread to spread some happy sunshine.

My boy Yo-SD Isao, I’ve had him for 8 years and never bought him a nice outfit till recently. He's one of my most loved dolls. A doll I will be very very sad to part with.

Well, another Yo has landed on my doorstep. Meet Fifi:



Fifi is a YoTenshi Una. I now have 4 different 4Sisters dolls. Oldskin SD, DearSD, SDM, and now YoTenshi.

I should’ve joined this thread a while ago. I love Volks YoSDs. ♥️

I recently had a YoSD Isao (Cyborg 009 version) land on my doorstep. So seeing Isao in the thread makes me really happy.

Ever since I got my YoSD White Rabbit a few years ago, I’ve pined for the SwD version to have them as brothers. So, today, I got lucky on Yahoo Japan. I managed to get him almost completely fullset (missing the wig) for well within my budget.

So excited to have him come home!

 

Awesome! I just came to bump the thread for spam of White Rabbit seeing as I just ordered a SwD White Rabbit today. He has the most kissable/pouty looking lips.

 

I used to own Yo's but got out of the size, but this little guy recently hooked me in and I'm looking forward to getting him more adorable clothes. Poor guy finally has a wig and eyes.

Is there SWD Mamu come with head plate number starting with "F"?

 

@tiyama F#### plates are usually for Sato FCS dolls, but I'm not sure what the tenshi have.

 

So, he came home a little while back, but with the virus that shall not be named, I’ve not had time for much - pulling so many extra hours at work that I basically sleep once I get in!

Here’s my brothers together. The only thing my SwD is missing is the white wig, but other than that he’s perfect and complete. Their names are Arthur (SwD WR) and Albert (WR) respectively.

So happy to have them home. (@Bristol, here’s some spam for you! XD)

My little sleepy White Rabbit arrived a few weeks ago. The sculpt is much cuter than the promo pics show, and right now I'm trying to figure out his style and looking at face-up artists.

They really are, aren’t they, Bristol? I think the White Rabbit and his sleepy twin are probably my favourite out of all of the YoSD sculpts.

 

I don't have a white rabbit, but I made some progress on my girls clothes. So I can photograph her with out blinding the camera again XD

 

Do you guys struggle to put on Volks default wigs on your doll? I don't know if it's just me I'm doing it wrong, but I straight up just want to cut the side of the wig just a bit so it's not so tight or something. Right now I'm actually finding my MSD size wig fits much more comforably on my YoSD instead of the default YoSD wig.

 

I gave up on the default wig. It never looked right and wobbled. My Rinon's current wig was to small, even though it should have been the right size. Thankfully I could stretch it. I think they all have adorable bobble head that defy wigs.

Very cute girl, Lin is a sweetie. My first Yo girl came from Yahoo!Japan and was advertised as Yuki but was actually Kasumi. It happens.

I hope it’s ok to ask here, but how do I know if a Volks I’m interested in buying is legit? She has no headplate, so that makes me worried. She does have paperwork. Has Yuh ever been recasted? I’m hoping not, so then she’ll definitely be legit.

 

Is it a private seller or a store like Mandarake or Dollyteria? If it's a private seller you an always ask them for pics of the stamps inside the head, for example. And show those here, people might be able to help you.

I changed the look of my Rengemaru. For some reason the wild thatch of hair he had made his head look too small. I gave him an old wig from my stash, and I think that makes him look more normal. Here he is with Puck (Kuuta):

@Keri I bought a Yo Puff a while back whose headplate was missing but he had his box and papers... I have so many other Yos that I thought I'd take the risk, and mine looks and feels legit to me.

I think that, if it's not a rare doll, the chances are they haven't been recasted (although this is by no means certain), and Yuh is everywhere on Mandarake...mine came to me without his box, but he did have his headplate. I guess you could check out Mandarake if you did want Yuh and were worried about not having the headplate...there are 5 on there now... search under Yo-tenshi Yu...

 

I was able to get Reisner from the recent Volks cyber event and he has finally made it home. He has the larger midi head, the longer body and his wig and I don’t have styling down well. And I don’t have any on line accounts for photos so suppose that’s something I will be doing in the future. He’s joining a big family here but he does have Volks relatives among the hoard.

 

Can anyone give me some info on the Yo-Midi Boy Ryo Asuka? Most of the Volks yo-sds look to childish for my tastes, but the Ryo Asuka really caught my eye because his sculpt looks more like a mature character just in chibi form. Then the fact he is angel themed, the sculpt just screams to me. From what I have been able to research the head can fit their msd/midi bodies so it has a special neck kip for the Yo-sd body. Anyone got any input on how that aesthetically looks? Also, what is the Yo-sd body like as far as posing? It's single jointed right? Finally, from what I can tell the Ryo Asuka originally was released in 2013, so I take it the ones currently listed on the Japanese site are a re-release?

 

@Krissim I have the YoMidi Devilman Akira from that release. As far as I know those on the Volks Japan site are from the original release (but I could be wrong).

The heads are bobbleheaded on the Yo body, but it never overtly bothered me, to be honest. You can see some older photos on my Flickr. The Yo bodies they came on have a single joint at the waist, and have single jointed elbows/knees. They pose okay, and I love the Yo body.

That being said, I recently put him on a Midi body, and he looks awesome.

I think @InvisibleWings has a Ryo on a midi body...

 

I got both of the Devilman Yos (Ryo and Akira) and can confirm they look quite mature. They're basically like the other Yo Midis (like Williams, Reisner, Cecil) insofar that they're bobbleheaded on the Yo bodies and that you can put the heads on MSD/SDM bodies without any problem. I got both back when they were first released, and I'm pretty sure those for sale on the Volks website are from the initial release. Obviously, there wasn't as much demand for them as Volks expected. I won Akira in the lottery and purchased one of the leftover Ryos after.

 

I do have a Ryo, though he mostly stays on the YoMidi body so I can use all his wings on him. (And he refuses to allow any name but 'Angelbutt'.) I can stick him on one of my SDM bodies and shoot some pics

Mature or not, both Ryo and Akira are adorable.

I do keep my YoMidi Cyndy on an SDC body all the time. It works great for her.

Thank you all for the info. Wow, I can't believe they are from the original release. That's 7 years at this point. I would have thought Volks would have put them on sale at some point rather than have them just sitting there...

Honestly I find it rather sad they were apparently so unpopular because I think both of the from that line are super fun. If I get one I will be keeping him on the small body. Apparently I have a soft spot for bobble headed yosd's considering the other ones I own are all from 2D Doll and they also have MSD size heads.

I'm going to have to think on it though as knowing how resin ages over time it feels slightly strange buying a new doll that is really 7 years old at this point. At least, I now know I probably don't need to rush in the decision.

I've been away from most of my message boards for a while, as life and work have been awful for the past 6-8 months. I have a new job now, though, and a lot of things are much better now. I even cleaned my dining room, and it motivated me to set up a tiny little diorama for my two Volks tinies! I haven't taken pictures of them since I got the second one, which was last October!

Here are Rin (Piccolo, 2nd. makeup) and Haru (Yo-Tenshi Yuh, custom) in their festival outfits.



Rin is a tanuki and Haru is a persocom. It was fun to give them a little photoshoot after such a long break!

 

Could anyone tell me more about how to purchase Rick and Lulu? I can't find information anywhere, I'm a bit too green here to search properly, it seems, but I live for my volks yos and I'd love to add at least one of these cuties to my collection!

 

I have not seen any information on when you can purchase the new Yo SD on their main website yet. Hopefully more info will be available soon.

 

I was able to find out that they will be sold on August 30th! But I don't know if this is a sale or a lottery

 

@Vakarian They're to be sold at the Kyoto Dolpa on 8/30, but that's only in-person. You'll likely be able to enter a lottery for them on the international site (and/or the US site, if applicable) during the After Event, which looks like it'll be on 9/12.

Hello, does anyone know if Kanon the Mouse has double jointed elbows?

 

@dolliberate The double-jointed elbows were first released with Dai and Mako, who came after Kanon, so she does not have them. If you're getting her second-hand the owners may have traded in for body with them, though.
