Volks YoSD and YoTenshi Discussion part 6

My Volks Yos and Yo Tenshi are my very favorite BJDs-they have the cutest most expressive faces of any o f my BJDs.

 

My Suzuna

 

I used to have a Tinatsu and a Remi.... but I sold them because I wasn't able to really customize or take care of them at the time...

Now that I'm older and have more freedom with my funds, I've re-purchased Remi (for a much higher cost than what Volks sold her for initially...the irony)....

But they're all just so adorable. I can't wait to see future Volks releases!

 

The more I see Elena, the more I wish I had ordered one. Has anyone seen any Elena's with custom make up? I'm curious to see how they look re-painted. btatiana60 - I LOVE your Suzuna! I sold mine when I semi-quit dolls last year. Now that I am collecting again, she'll probably come back again though. >_<

 

Thanks for the info on the origin body, sounds like I'd get a jointed one for any potential Yo released with it

I actually love the origin body. I have one girl w with it and I have come to like it a lot. It may not pose like the jointed body but it looks cuter to me to me. I guess it depends on what you wan t to do with the do with the doll.

Having....I can't see the Suzunas...Will try on land p top.

 

Oh jeez, they're so cute! What is she wearing-- is that a vest for an MSD or SD that fits her like a big assassin's cloak? Whatever that is, it's wonderful.

Isao IS quite appreciably taller than everyone else in the Yo pantheon... It's especially striking when you get to see them standing up! That looks like at least an inch difference. (Nava is the only Yo in the house, so he only ever gets to feel tall when he goes visiting) (or when he stands next to a Reitenshi xD)

 

JennyNemesis, that is indeed a big vest - SD13 boy sized actually
I like the look so much I feel like she'll have to wear it sometimes despite it being a little silly

I just love the fact that they gave the Yo Isao longer legs, it really makes him a miniature of the original!
Well, honestly Momo doesn't stand completely straight in that picture, and Naoto has fluffier hair, but the difference was still enough to surprise me.
You'll have to put Nava and the Reitenshi beside one another more often then

 

Hehe, I was going to guess SD13, but then I figured no, it couldn't possibly be THAT big... She looks like a little Cenobite from Hellraiser, only with a cute bow. xD

The SD13 Isao has sort of half-and-half legs, with Long shins and Regular thighs (and is a little shorter than a Long-Leg SD13)... But I don't think they'll make an even longer-legged Yo model... although sometimes I wonder. ^^ Yo-Isao is definitely a giant among midgets.

(My Reitenshi is a fetus-type with fused legs, who can't stand up, so he just looks funny posed next to anybody. He's a 10cm lima-bean. Nava could play football with him. )

 

I had Isao before I took a doll break and sold a bunch. He was fun and I liked the longer legged body too. I always hoped they would make a tiny Williams with the Isao body but now that they made the YoMidid, I doubt that will happen.

 

May I request some Papi (or Puff!) and Piccolo spam? I have decided that Yuuya needs a little friend (rather than me getting larger dolls) and I've decided that I'll either be getting a Papi or Piccolo, depending on the market when I finally have the funds.

 

JennyNemesis, she'd definitely be the cutest cenobite out there!

I know, and I really appreciate that Volks made the "hybrid" legs for him, it makes him even more special!
And yes, a Yo with even longer legs might look a little out of place along with other Yos, so I too doubt there will be a Yo taller than Isao

myownlittleworld, if Volks had released a Yo Reisner (with Yo-sized head), I'd had gotten him in a heartbeat. I'm not too fond of the super bobble-head-ness of YoMidi or going into mini-size collecting.

@Motiko I'm with you-- if they had released Chibi Resiner & Williams with Yo-sized heads, instead of those enormous MSD-sized heads, I don't know if I would've been able to resist either of them! I would've liked them being full-on Yo. (I looove the way Williams/ Reisner look when hybridized on an SDC body, though. I privately think Volks should've just made 'em SDC in the first place.)

And you shouldn't worry about Jimmy the Reitenshi... he is one bad-ass mofo. He can handle Nava. xD Nava may be badass too, but Jimmy's been here longer, he's got seniority.

 

sprindlewood, I do have Piccolo, but somehow I don't have picture with just him, only with other friend's Yos or SDs Is it allowed to post here?

I can't resist Chibi Reisner even as YoMidi! Though it would be amazing if Volks would release Williams as YoSD and not as YoMidi.

 

Oh my, he is stunning!! How absolutely beautiful he is!

I swear that little chunk of a dude looks about 24 years old... it's such a mature face, like they barely chibified him at all. And they gave him the full glamour faceup, too, with the gloss and the smoky eyes.

 

Jenny, haha, glad you like him I have the big one too, so I guess there is someone to look to But still I think it depends on his mood and the viewing angle.

 

Ksusha I don't see why posting a picture of a VOLKS YoSD with other dolls in the photo would be a problem. Please, spam away!

I think Yo-Tenshi Mika at the left belongs to justkatie179 right now, and Yo-SD Kanon at the right belongs to elphsnt.

 

I agree, they look really good on the SDC bodies! Yeah, I know Jimmy is a tiny badass, but still!

In other news I got back to my dolls today, and there were two packages waiting for me, one of which had some stuff for Momo!
Here she is in her new wig and pink yukata with cherry blossoms and bunnies!


I also got the outfit that the 2nd release of Tanpopo was pictured in, but I haven't tried it on yet (due to me not actually having the spare time to play with dolls today... but well, I did so a little bit anyway )

Trying a new wig on my Isao, Ricky. Not sure it's really him, but I like the lighter brown rather than the dark brown of his first wig.

Ricky is too cute! I like that wig on him-- the bangs are just sparse enough to let us see his trademark Isao power-brows. What an adorable little pirate outfit he has on. Very dashing.

 

I love seeing everyone's little ones! There's something really special about Volks dolls, especially the tinies!

Here's my first BJD, Katelyn, a Papi. I can't believe that she's been with me for 3 years already!



I was wondering how one gets hold of new Volks dolls these days? I'm from South Africa, and bought from the Volks international site before. They seem to have moved the page where they were selling the YoSDs, and now I can't seem to find them anywhere on the site!

Keri, your Papi is so cute! The international site is indeed the place to get them (unless you live in the US, obviously), but since all Yos are limited releases they are only available after Dolpas, on the "Limited Models"-page.

JennyN: I love those shoes. I bought them years ago from Leeke. And the dress is just so beautiful.
The wings are the magnetic wings from my YoMidi Akira Fudo. He's a floating head right now, as I don't have enough bodies to go around.

 

Aha, of course they're your Devilman's wings... I had just assumed they were part of that little Wednesday Addams getup, because they fit so harmoniously perfectly with it. Well done! Accessorizing Fu +10.

 

Thanks, Motiko! I've been looking at the international site, but don't seem to do too well finding any YoSDs on there! Maybe because there aren't any available when I look? I got my Papi from their site a few years ago, and at that stage they had quite a few "left over" YoSDs available. I'll guess I'll just have to keep an eye on their site!

How does everyone hear about when YoSDs get released? The first I ever hear of them is when I see them for sale in the MP!

So based on pictures and whatnot, yo-midi are just standard Yo SD bodies? I love the Devil Man Akira set comes with the wings and claws option parts but not sure about the head itself.

But theoretically any Yo head should work on the Yo-midi body right?

 

As Eleniel stated, the YoMidi body is still just a regular YoSD body. So any Yo head will fit on it.
However, only the Akira Fudo and Ryo Asuka have the magnets and wings.

Mikkey always has such great outfits! He's very stylish. And I love that wig on him, with the straight-straight black & white bangs.

Nava has finally gotten more than 1 non-default outfit... I scored a handful of free Ken-doll clothes at the swap meet at Dollism NY, and lo and behold, there were tiny camouflage cargo-pants in there. (Almost every size of doll in my collection has a pair of camouflage cargo-pants. I'm addicted. xD)

The Ken clothes are a little bit long + baggy on Yo-SD in general... But they work fine for a guy with a floppy tough-boy style like Nava has. He came hiking with me up on the mountain this past Sunday-- hiking for me, rock-climbing for him. ^^

I've been using Ken clothes for my Yo boys since someone tipped me off to them in 2007 -- which has been great, since my boys aren't foofy, and it's not always easy to find non-foofy clothes for them.

 

Thank you! I miss his baldness, but variety is good too.
Navi looks trendy, these military and overall style - must have of the season! I'd like to purchase a military overall for Mikkey, but don't imagine where to look yet.

 

I've been resisting buying Nava ANY other clothes, because I wanted just to keep him in his all-default Isao look. And also because I didn't want to start shopping for yet another size of clothes (I already shop for 45cm through 80cm - my poor shelves! ;;^^). And also because it is so hard to find non-foofy boy clothing at this size. But y'know-- it was free-- and who can resist FREE clothing?

The pants come up to his chest... and are a bit loose... and the sweatshirt needs the sleeves cuffed back. But otherwise, it's amazing that a stubby little 1:6 doll can wear clothes meant for a mature-bodied 1:4 doll! And it is so good to find camouflage in his size. So, I guess, hooray for Ken.

Mitya69, is it easy to find Barbie/Ken clothes where you live? Ken's military-style clothes are all over eBay here in the USA, and are very easy to find in general. But I couldn't advise you where to shop in Russia.

No, you're correct-- you can't see that Nava's pants are too big, because they're covered by the floppy sweatshirt. It's fortunate that he likes the floppy style. ^^

little palm pumpkins like this have always held symbolism to my older brother who passed before I was born, we would bring them to his grave on his birthday every year. I bought one this year to keep at home since I wont be able to go home where he is buried. I decided to take a picture of the pumpkin with Mogi, who is named after him. (Mogi's real name is Matthias)
