Volks USA Tea Party Los Angeles March 15/16 2014

I guess I missed the lottery for the tea party but I just booked my trip yesterday (for other reasons). But I'm curious enough to just show up and browse and see what's there. I was there a few weeks ago and they had a variety of things I was interested in. If any of that stuff or similar items are there.....Still, pretty cool to get to go there again before it closes....

 

I was wondering if there was any news on the web sale event??

 

Planning to go, but missed the lottery for the tea party.

 

I sent an e-mail inquiry last week about the web event and received this from Volks USA

"We will still be having the Web Event Sale on March 22-25th.
After our In Store Event we will be posting more details."

Yikes, Looks like I'm very late in this discussion. . I've been saving money and planning to go since early February. Like others here, I'm kicking myself for missing the tea party lottery (it was hard to pin point the link at the website until now), but I did sign up for the doctor. I'll be driving in super early from Vegas so I hopefully don't end up around the corner if it gets crazy. I seriously hope it doesn't get like that.

Beginning with 2014, some very important changes have taken place within Volks USA. Some of these changes may sound like rather bad news, and we have struggled to find the best way to inform you of these changes. This may be a very sad thing for some of you who have known Volks USA and supported it for a long time. We worry that you might feel sad or dissatisfied about these changes or feel that we were abandoning you, but that is not the case with us at all.

I am Hideyoshi Shigeta, the new general manager sent from Japan. I have a few staff members who have joined Volks USA recently, and we are trying to start from scratch to manage and improve the company. The previous general manager and all of the staff members have left the company. All of our current employees are recent and trying to learn as quickly as they can.

Right now, we are trying our best to continue to carry Volks USA. Please understand that we are making these changes because we want to manage the company so that we will be able to provide better services and satisfaction to our customers.

Last year, Volks Japan celebrated its 40th anniversary and this year it is the 15th anniversary for our Dollfies. In the history of the company, we have made many changes over the years. However, Volks has persevered these situations by keeping our standards of high quality products and customer service. We know that we have stayed in business for all these years because of the understanding and support from our customers.

In the future, Volks USA plans to manage our company while working closely with Volks Japan and our Doll Planning Department, which is in charge of product development and events such as Dolls Parties.

All of us here at Volks USA are very grateful for your friendly and constant support of Volks USA.

well the party will be held at the store so I don't think they will be letting a lot of people go to it. they said they would announce who gets to go today. waiting on an email.

I got a "sorry" email for the Tea Party. That's OK. I figured it would be tough to get in with such a small space. Congrats to everyone who got in!

 

Me too, April, but it's probably for the best...it would have been a tight schedule that weekend. Hopefully that means someone gets to go that hasn't been before.

 

Haven't been around much in the BJD world in a while, but the Volks USA store holds a special place in my heart so I am really happy to have received a spot for the tea party. Can't wait until next week! I'll be bringing my MSD F21. She was a Volks USA one off a few years ago so it seemed most appropriate to bring her.

 

My hubby and I both got emails! I'm so shocked since the odds of both of us getting invites wasn't in our favour at all.

We've booked our flights. I don't want to deal with the challenges of bringing a resin doll with me, so it will be my Dollfie Dreams that come out with us.

 

Got my confirmation! I am so excited for the tea party. I'm going to bring my Belldandy, though I don't think I'm going to have her default outfit on as I have to fly with her. She'll be in casual clothes.

 

The BF and I both got confirmations, squeee!

A question -- did anyone notice a number on your confirmation e-mail? Mine was 001; the BF's was 017. We wondered if that was alphabetical according to our surnames, or what.

 

Mine is 047. So, I am guessing they drew names at random.

 

Volks said it was going to be crowded.

Unless they all just gave us numbers based on the lottery entries? Like maybe I was the 27th person to email them and then they just drew numbers?

My number is 18, but I was late to enter. So it's anybody's guess how they decided on them really. Maybe it is the order we were drawn out of the hat?

I would have loved to have been included in this event but unfortunately, I've lost the lottery. I hope you guys have a great time at the store and grats to you all! It's a little sad to imagine that only a trip to Japan will allow us any interaction with Volks but I guess that just means I need to make it out there some day.

Did everyone see the sales list that went up in the News section? I'm hoping to get some parts for my Melty and maybe another Doll Stand. But I love shoes …..

Got my email for the doll doctor! Just waiting to see if the time I wanted is available. Well, I might have missed out on the tea party but I'm also really happy I got this. I plan to bring my wobbly SD13 boy and Sei Tenshi that I'm afraid to take apart. Can't wait be at Volks next Saturday....right after my 3 to 4 hour drive to LA.

 

Ah, I'm so sad the store front is closing down before I ever got a chance to go down there and visit ;__; For you lucky ducks going to the party, have enough fun for the rest of us!

What I'm wondering, though, is just what "SD/DD Parts" entail in that sales promotion post of theirs? Would that include all the individual body parts? Whole bodies? Just hands? Anyone know? They definitely weren't very specific...

 

How Exciting! I got my conformation for the Tea Party while I was on Vacation I will be bringing Eli (SD17Williams). I am curious to just how many people will fit?? But it should be very interesting and fun.

 

Congratulations to all lottery winners! Now you all need to be aspiring journalists and find out some of the future plans for Volks in the US. I still have hope that the closing of this specific store is just a move to a better, bigger place...kind of like the Ginza store in Tokyo.

pris84: I wonder how many people got into the party? I went to Dolpa in 2007 and met some wonderful people there. I will always have that experience to treasure XP

SDink Let's hang out! I am a little lazy about bringing my doll out. It's so heavy. I am really leaning towards not bringing any of them because I do not have YOSD or MSD.

 

PARTS-- The Volks store stocks extra hands and feet, like tabi feet. I think that's what they are talking about.

I haven't heard about the Doll Doctor Appt, so probably didn't get one. That's OK.

I might try and brave the crowd and line to get into the store... but I really don't NEED anything... so I'll see!

 

So I am not sure exactly what to expect at the tea party...anyone have any ideas? Speculation?

 

Yeah I figured it'd be something like that. Oh well, I could still use some extra hands for my girl. She's only got the fist ones atm. Clothes too! I just need to find a group order or something to get in on, cuz their shipping to Alaska is just plain stupidly expensive!

 

I made my hotel reservation yesterday. We're driving down, it's going to be a riot! I have no idea what to expect, but I'm bringing sunscreen. So excited to see everybody!

 

I got invited the the tea party. Probably going to stop by early to get some Dollfie Dream leg parts if they have any availlable. Poor hubby has to wait outside though. =/

Previous tea parties that Volks USA had held included snacks and raffled freebies/bingo prizes. I think it might be roughly the same but at a smaller scale.

 

I'm sorry not everyone could get in to the tea party. Normally I have the worst luck with lotteries and such. I still can't believe I was invited.

This last 6-7 months have been just awful for me, so this is the first really positive thing I've had happen.
I will be at Volks on both Saturday and Sunday, so I will get to meet some of you. And that will be so wonderful.

 

Same here Cathy. I never win anything ...ever so I was shocked & then excited to see my invite. I am glad that you are able to go too and I am sorry that the last 7 months have been bad BUT this may now mean things are starting to change for you!
