Would you mind sharing what sculpt is the head on the right? It feels so unusual for Volks, I'm in love with it.

On the right is my SD17 boy Toshizō Hijikata. Rumina painted him, and I think depending on the make-up, the lips look a bit different.

 

She has that feminine face of hers but she can be one who controls the game, right

 

Aww heck. An Amber (Ebony) SD16 has been on my want list for a while. I just have not liked the heads offered, other than Pearl who I already have. F-72 is tempting. It's gonna be a tough call between that or trying for a different Lorina.

 

Just logged onto Mandarake to see that somebody bought the Momoko Ryugasaki I've always wanted, and wow that hurts but I'm glad she has a new home now!! She's been there for like... how long?

 

With all the pre-orders happening, I hope that Volks might release an SD17 Reisner in the near future. He's the only doll left on my wishlist and I'd love to add him to my collection. Because there's no way that I'm buying him for the current aftermarket prices

I think there were some used ones on Manda that weren't too bad.

 

@Nighton_woN There's a yellowed Reisner for 250,000 Yen on Mandarake, which means ca 2300$ + shipping... I'd rather buy a new Reisner directly from Volks and pay less - if they ever decide to open a pre-order for him!

 

does anyone know if there's a database of all Volks sculpts up to date? I see so many sculpts but they don't leave an impression on me so I don't remember their names but I remember the names of the old sculpts like Reisner, Williams, Shito tachibana, Hijikata etc they all have distinct and interesting sculpts, at least for me, that's why I can easily remember their names and can tell them apart.

This is why I'm always wishing for a Williams or Reisner but I always miss their sales ( I just thought... why can't I get another one? and when I tried to think of another one nothing comes up in my mind even though I've seen many.

Are there new sculpts that are as popular as... for example: Williams? I'm not saying I want Williams because he is popular but that I understand why he is that popular. So yeah, I would to see a list of all male SD sculpts to see if I can replace my dream dolls. ^^

Thanks for the link! I'm glad online voting has such a long period; it's not always easy to explain one's choice.

It's good that Volks shows the sculpt profiles as well as full face. However... some of the profile views turned me off some of the sculpts; the proportions are... odd.

 

Yes, definitely happy they show both front and side view. There are some I like from one view but not so much the other. (Wish they'd do this for all new sculpts really.)
#9 is my favorite.
I haven't decided if I will renew my GL membership now in order to vote though.

 

It would be really nice to have the front and profile of all their FCS sculpts, actually. That was very helpful as some of those side profiles didn't do much for me and it would have been hard to tell from the front only.

I liked #9. That one seems to have good balance and would probably work for boys and girls. I'm picturing it in tan. It's also a little more mature feeling.

 

I just came to let you know that my design is number 3 here!! if you like her, every vote is important T.T Im so so so so HAPPY I can see this and she will be on carts of Volks history forever.

@mx_95 what a great face! did you make the doll or just submitted the drawings to Volks? I love this face, it's very refreshing and different!

@mx_95 I loved your drawing! The style feels very 70's anime to me. In fact after seeing her sculpted (And Volks did a great job translating the drawing) I feel the head has more of a Rose of Versailles feel then Volks actual RoV dolls. I'd love to see this head dressed up as Lady Oscar.

No. 9 is nice, but kind of feels like your standard Volks head.

 

So many unique molds, some of them have such unique character! Especially yours, @mx_95, congrats on being selected!

Is it my imagination, or does #8 have little elf ears? Her pointy little upturned nose reminds me a bit of the Disney Princess dolls.

 

Yes, I was getting Rose of Versailles vibes from Diane (no #3)! Maybe long lost sister to Oscar? I actually put that in my entry as one of the reasons why she was my choice. I also really loved #4 - it is just so cute. Reminds me of Happy Smile Licca doll.

 

Huh, not what I expected from the top ten, to be honest. The profiles are SO weird on some of those heads. Made voting easy though!

Mmm... I was wondering... Let's say I manage to order one of the Junichi dolls: do I have to pay immediately?

I remember that for DD Sheryl Nome you had to pay once the doll was ready to ship. But that was long ago.

 

I would think so. At least more recently, Volks has been pre-authorizing cards for the full amount whenever there's been a pre-order or lottery. I believe it's to prevent people from backing out.

 

No 8 is super cute - it does look a lot like the SDM F48 the little MSD size doll. Yes Elf ears!

Your girl (sorry I said boy would make a great boy also) came out so much like the drawing you did! very well done. I think she has a lot of character and is really unique. It must be amazing to see your drawing come to life! I wish they would send you a copy. I hope they can create more than one doll mold.

I agree some of the side profile are… hmm.., the upper lips are usually where it feels off to me. Since I’m more into male dolls, 9 instantly caught my eye but I also like how 3 has a different feel. Lucky enough to be heading to Dollpa so hoping seeing them in person helps break the tie.

All these dolls from the voting contest are so interesting. They're all beautiful. #2, #8 & #9 already look like a head from Volks but they're cute. I'm loving #3, #7 oh and I think #1 is super cute.

My favorite is #4 because of the cute eye smile, I've wanted a doll like that for a long time and have never found one with an eye smile that way. If this sculpt wins I will definitely get it!

 

My thoughts exactly! Some of the profiles are odd, and there are many Volks FCS heads I'm interested in, but I can't decide quickly and there are seldom full on profile pictures of any of their sculpts, so I've been going through the extremely slow process of waiting for heads to show up at the Mado oneoffs to see in person how the profiles look. I wish I could go to the fcs counter in Kyoto to look at all the profiles I'm interested in, but I don't think that's allowed unless you are buying that day and I wouldn't be able to decide right away after only just finally seeing the side views. I wish the fcs book you can buy had the side profiles. It doesn't make sense not to have them. How can you decide on a head if you don't know how it fully looks???

The heads are all so interesting! I personally love 3 the best, that nose is everything. Congratulations again @mx_95 for being a part of Volks history!!

All this talk of Rose of Versailles makes me want to share my Marie Antoinette I just finished! I wanted a Marie to compliment Oscar. Doing her wig and sewing her dress was a challenge, but I think they compliment each other well! Marie is a F63

 

Love how Volks sculpted each drawing! Tbh, I think the winning sculpt will receive the place number of F-100. But I hope that Volks will utilize the other sculpts either for FCS or limited. It would be great if Volks retained the artist's character name and description, if they were released as limiteds.

8 and 9 seem like pretty classic Volks sculpts, 3 and 6 have interesting mature faces, and I really like the idea of 5 with the unique winking face...

Thank you everyone a lot for nice words!! Indeed many heads are beautiful and I wiiish I could have at least my own copy or Volks would do anything more with them. Other than mine after sitting with it for a while I might like the #2 the best. But as you said, some have really weird side profiles!

Mine for me would be wonderful as a boy and a girl and I made some mockups... In the end maybe even better as a boy? haha!

@mx_95, the style of your entry reminded me of an anime I watched years ago, called "Red Garden" -- Funimation

I'll vote for your entry, because I'd love to have it as an SD16 girl someday

 

It kind of feels like they made all of the sculpts' eyes too small? Or that might just be due to my personal taste. Number 3 and number 8 are my favorites but even then I'd want to mod each of them a little bit.

Can someone point me in the right direction if I want to see Online FCS Natural vs Vivid makeup styles on ebony/amber skin? I'm having a lot of trouble finding live links and pictures.

 

Oh my gosh, now that you mention it! The style does remind me of Red Garden - that anime had a really unique look, I actually really enjoyed it. Kind of want to rewatch now, hehe. I really think the sculpt would be great on the SD16 body too. Fingers crossed she gets released as I would love one-offs of Diane as F-100 . . .

I am quite impressed with how the Volks team managed to come up with 10 heads in such a short period of time.
Congratulations to @mx_95! I personally think Volks did a wonderful job on translating your drawing into a real doll sculpt

I can't wait to see who wins in September. Even if the other sculpts don't win, we never know if Volks will use them in the future!
Hopefully this isn't the last we see of the sculpts that don't win the voting competition.

It happens from time to time, usually a few refreshes and you get through - if you’re only after the Junichi girls, it won’t really matter. They aren’t first come, first serve - if they get more orders than they have dolls it’ll switch to lottery for everyone, which seems inevitable. (If you are after the new Dolfie Dreams though, good luck because those are a click war.)

 

Yes, you can freely post her in your insta I'll get back to my home tomorrow, so you can expect some photo spam then. Sadly I don't have much time at taking photo in this zone. Guess that @abs2891 's photo should be better at lighting.

@mx_95 that being said do feel free to use mine as well, she looked lovely while carrying a nice, elegant older feel to her.

I am very sad to see many scalpers on Yahoo for Alice and Sweet Lorina.. I hope Volks decide to do a pre-order seeing that not a lottery

 

I completely agree with you. Someone posted a brand new Alice for sale on BJD Addicts on Facebook for $3456. It’s absolutely ridiculous.

 

Anyone know when does the order time start? It just says Aug 2 japan time but didn't mention what time exactly. Although I'm sure it's gonna be a lottery....

 

I don't think the girls are officially up yet for pre-order as the button still says "in preparation". It's just the early hours of Aug 2 in Japan right now. My guess would be sometime this evening (depending on your time zone), the girls will be available. I'm sure the orders will exceed the quantity and we'll end up in a lottery situation. But fingers crossed.

 

My guess would be 10 or 11 am since that tends to be a popular start time but not seeing anything to confirm it - but yeah, it’s one of those change to lottery if orders exceeds preparations so when you order ultimately isn’t that important so long as it’s before the deadline.
