Volks Super Dollfie - SD, SD13, SD16, SD17, SDGr, SDGou & FCS - XXXI

Jun 14, 2021

    1. I like how Volks just tossed out their resin tone/sculpt naming convention with this release. Now we'll have to amend every explanation to newcomers with, "except for that one time..."

But maybe there will be a few inexpensive white Beths on the market finally.

    2. I would love if Volks released a pattern book of the dresses but I suspect the estate of Junichi Nakahara might not be so keen? :sweat Preorders would be amazing (dolls for everyone!) but sadly, I suspect it will be down to lottery. I think I will try for the WS Lorina/Lorina 2/Alice (insert correct name here on Monday) in the white and yellow dress. I'd be really tempted to put in for both but chances are IF I was able to win, chances are it wouldn't be both. My first choice is the lady in white. But ... really like that peach dress! :| Don't want to push my luck plus those Frozen girls have got to be releasing soon. Maybe they will even be on display at Dolpa?

    3. I feel like Volks has been very generous this year with the previous pre orders. I can't imagine them doing another one, but who knows??

      My sunlight F-62, Gabrielle.

    4. :...( I need both those dresses, I hope they are selling them fully and it isn't just patterns. They're gorgeous.

    5. Girls, girls and more girls... Ah well.
At least the dresses are cool.

    6. And the bank accounts are safe for some of us.

    7. True that!

    8. My wallet sighs in relief.

    9. I would be SO HAPPY to have a pattern book with these dresses in it! Volks hasn’t put out a lot of pattern books lately, and none(?) with SDGr girl specific dresses, which is a shame. Off-topic for this thread, but DearSD could use a pattern book of their own, too!

    11. I really hope they will be another preorder, since I'm not very lucky recently...

    12. Hello everyone! I'm currently waiting on an SD13 F42 Elena but I wanted to get her a wig ahead of time (while the one she'll come with is lovely, it doesn't suit the image in my head). Can anyone help me with the wig measurements in cm for her? I'd like the measurements specifically in case I like a wig that's made with hard cap, like an alpaca wig for example...

    13. @dancingkitsune My Elena measures 8 3/4". I think for a custom alpaca wig, the wig makers usually like to have the head on hand to fit it exactly unless they have the doll head already.

      • x 3
    14. From what I’ve seen this is accurate. To get a custom alpaca wig you’ll probably need a lot more info than just the “size” - depth, angle, ear placement, shape, etc are all important to getting a perfect fit.

      • x 2
    15. Oh I didn't realize.. I had always wanted to invest in an alpaca wig but could never justify the cost, but Elena is literally my grail of almost a decade so if there's any doll I spoil it's gonna be her.. I guess I'll have to look more into it, sadly

    16. My first time jumping in here! My dolly tax is my boy Lisianthus~ He's an F73. I've got the Volks bug again bad lol. I really want another F62 to accompany him so that'll be my next Volks doll for sure!~
      [IMG]
Omggg! What a beauty!! Thanks for sharing you gorgeous doll!

      • x 18
    17. Once she arrives, you can cover her head with cling wrap, then cover that in something like masking tape to make a form of her head. I think most alpaca wigmakers are willing to work off of head forms like that. You'll just need to mark out where her ears are! Congrats on ordering her!

    19. Thanks @pris84 I was expecting a lottery anyway (and hopefully an international lottery), but it sounds like the quantity is pretty limited, so I’ll prepare myself to pay the after market price >.<

      • x 1
    20. @ashlia Good luck! Fingers crossed! I’d love to bring Alice home, who would end up being the living version of my Beth (who has tragically died :sweat ) But yeah … bet they are super limited!

Looks like Twitter has a few photos of the yukata up. Lovely! :D

    21. @pris84 good luck to both of us! :clover:clover:clover It sounds like she’ll already have an interesting backstory if you bring her home. I really love this version of Alice too, will be trying my best to bring her home :eusa_pray

    22. They are the only limited SDs for this Dolpa, aren't they? I think it would be a poor move from Volks to not allow international lottery... How many dolls will go to people outside of Japan / USA if they get them, now that's another question.

    23. Both girls are lovely and I'm really loving the yukatas! I know the chances are slim with a lottery but I'm tempted to enter if Alice is open to GL members.

      • x 2
    24. Hope they open order even if lottery for International buyers :sweat aah volks please :shudder:frownyblush:

      • x 2
    25. That's... a long "limited quantity pre-order" period - most of August? I'm not sure who believes it will be anything else but a lottery, but maybe there will be enough?

      • x 4
    26. I don't know if you guys seen this already but Volks News has also the finalists of the F-100 head design contest!! And I'm among the finalists too, hello!! I'm there as "Aridede" (like everywhere except DoA hehe) with my design. I'm so so so so so excited and feel so special about this TUT Being the final 10! I'm also the only international contestant who got to finals too!!

If you like my design, please remember to vote when the time comes TUT I'm not even thinking I could win this ever BUT the hope never dies and that would be so dream come trueeeee.

      • x 34
    27. @MsPatricius we can only hope there will be enough, though I doubt it >.<

@mx_95 that’s amazing! Congrats on making the finals and good luck!

      • x 3
    28. Oh, this is a great idea! Thanks so much!

      • x 1
    29. Congratulations @mx_95!! Im so excited for you, it's such an honor to be chosen even for the finalsits! You have been immortalized in Volks News! :D

      • x 2
    30. Thanks for the link @ashlia ! :love Hopefully dolls for all?

      Congratulations @mx_95 !! So exciting!! :D

I know the Lucia, Lieselotte and Charolette were preorders guaranteed but wasn't there another release in recent history that had the same type of wording as this "limited quantity pre-order"? You would think that Volks would have some idea on how popular sales are for these girls based on past sales information and the fact Alice hasn't been released in over 10+ years.:sweat Good luck everyone! Fingers crossed that there are dolls for everyone!

      • x 3
    31. @pris84 I think little Williams and Cecile had the same wording and they did go on to be a lottery

@mx_95 congrats again here as well :D

      • x 1
    32. Boyhood Cecile and Williams were like this. I also don’t know why they weren’t just lottery to begin with, and I know a lot of people didn’t win. But I will say one advantage of the ‘switch to lottery if there’s too many orders’ system rather than just lottery to begin with, is that they email the losers to notify them they lost, whereas you don’t hear a thing if you lose with a regular lottery and you’re just left hanging.

I really like how they come with random mini books, it’s a cute touch.

      And congratulations again @mx_95 !

      • x 4
    33. AH! Thanks so much @Torino ! Then I suspect we will see a lot of sad faces here. But that's good to know that people were notified of losing. The not knowing is the worst. Like did that winning email get eaten in space and a person missed out? I'll take the losing email. I'm going to try for Alice and both Yukata types. :clover Fingers crossed for everyone! :clover

Interesting how this Sweet Dreams version is called Sweet Dreams Lorina and not Beth in Pure Skin Fair.

I was looking back at the old photos from Tenshi no Sato when the Junichi Nakahara were previously on display and I think there might be about 8 versions of the Jo & Beth head ... This is just my guess list and is in no way official. :sweat

      1. Lorina/Jo (Pure Skin Fair)
      2. Alice (Pure Skin White)
      3. Beth (Pure Skin White)
      4. SwD Lorina (aka Beth) (Pure Skin Fair)
      5. Lorina 2 (Pure Skin Fair)
      6. Lorina 2 (Pure Skin White)
      7. SWD Lorina 2 (Pure Skin White)
      8. SWD Lorina 2 (Pure Skin Fair)

Some of the SwD Lorina from old photos look like they have the same mouth as the Lorina 2, so I'm guessing there may be a SwD Lorina 2 in the future ....? And I could be totally wrong about about the list but it's fun to speculate.

Anyone else thinking of Pokemon? Gotta catch's all .... Pokemon! Er ... Super Dollfie! :sweat

Doll tax? My Jo and Beth from last Halloween.

@pris84 your photo of beth and Jo extremely beautiful :D:D

    35. So it seems that they have preorders(or become lottery) on Volks Japan only, will not on Volks USA or on after event. I have to purchase the GL membership in July.

    36. Hello everyone. Please, may b someone know some history about F-16 and Lucas heads? Who was first? And which year, and maybe b which year Volks add magnet inside heads and same, who first was with magnet f-16 or Lucas.. I can't found any clear information about. I know before was f-28.. And then? Folks release Lucas and renamed f-28 to f-16..? May b I wrong, anyway thanks for any information

    38. This is what angelden.net has to say about it.

Lucas and Chris at their first release were Volks' first SD13 boys ever made available. They have since proven to be one of Volks' most popular limiteds and have more rereleases than any other LE save for Michael.
The Lucas/Chris headmold is similar in style to LE Sasha, Painting School Head A, and the old FCS F-28 and new FCS F-16. (The old F-28 was in fact a prototype for Lucas/Chris.) Many who crave Lucas/Chris but cannot obtain them opt to get FCS old F-28/new F-16 instead.

So according to them f28 was first, then he was resculpted almost immediately into lucas in 2002 and when the renumbering came in 2004 he turned into F16, my guess is that's when the magnets came in. ( and i was there all this time to observe :)....)

    39. Some alpaca wigs are being made with stretchy caps. I just commissioned a couple from a fairly new maker here in the US (@anugar here, sailorobsidian on IG). I gave basic measurements and it fits like a dream.

And it looks like the Volks resin tone/naming convention remains intact! Whew!

    40. I lose track of time for a month and look at all that's happened! Good luck on the new lottery, everyone :)

Does anyone happen to have the list of the sculpts that were offered for the USA FCS in June?

      • x 2
    41. @ekala Here is the list of the June 2021 FCS!

      SD/SD13girl - F62, F63, F70 (new) F73, F78 (new)
      SDGr boy - F16, F36, F57, F68 (new), F71

    43. Is there any difference between Lorina and Alice? I guess only resin color?

    44. Exactly. Jo, Lorina and Alice all have the same number inside and only differ by resin colour.

      • x 3
    45. Thanks a lot :))) that helps me to clear a situation..:)

    46. and @Kykycik to piggy back off that - F28 and F16 are not the same sculpt, there are big differences between the two, namely the shape of the nose. F16 just seems like a softer face overall, vs the F28 has the pointyness of Lucas.

      • x 1
    47. I’d love to know your opinion. Could she possibly be Lorina 2 in WS? I don’t know what they would refer to her as, but in the original collab both of these dolls were present and she appeared to be lorina 2

    48. Lorina in white skin is called Alice :)

    49. Yes, but Lorina and Lorina 2 are different sculpts.... so perhaps, if it's the opened mouth version but in WS, would that make her Alice 2?

      Edit:
Just had a look at her page.... it specifically says that her head shape is the same as Lorina, so it's just Alice and not an Alice 2. If it were, it would have been mentioned I think, like it is for Lorina on this page here.

    50. Alice 2 sounds reasonable to me! I don't think any of the ones in this release are 2 though.

So Lorina 2 is just Lorina with teeth? Are there any other differences? Blouse Collection Fudo Lorina is my favorite release of her so far. Her open mouth smile is too cute!

      • x 1
    51. No other differences, just the mouth :)

    52. I think I’m safe from these girls, as beautiful as Alice and sleeping Lorina are. I do hope those of you who can try for them can bring them home! More photos of their beauty are always welcome! :whee:

I switched Miss Morgan into a yukata and changed out her curls for straight hair. She looks completely different! (And I realize I need to lightly iron her outfit since those wrinkles didn’t fall out :doh )

I’ll put a full-length photo behind the cut:

    53. Idk if there's really difference between Lorina and Lorina 2 though as I personally don't see the difference or anyone comparing. Isn't it just difference in face-up?

    54. To me it looks like her mouth isn't as deep. I would think there would be more of a shadow if they painted teeth in Lorina 1. Actually maybe her bottom lip is more cut out. I'd sure like to be able to compare in person.

    55. I'm pretty sure they're the same sculpt for Lorina, just different faceups, but I could be wrong.

    56. Volks specifically stated that Lorina II had a resculpted mouth so that it would match the illustration that was the inspiration for that release. So yes, they are different and that is the only difference between Lorina and Lorina II.

    57. I think I'm safe from the new Volks releases. I might try for the WS Lorina 2/Alice/ girl of many names, but hope is slim :XD:

On a totally old-school note, I snagged this girl off of Mandarake and would love to hear other opinions than my own. She is marked SD-F-03 (old FCS, sleepy four sisters with closed eyes), and has a one-off plate. However, one eye is opened!

The faceup SCREAMS Volks circa 2004 to me. Her one eye is also hot glued in (but I know anyone could do this). I wonder if she was released as a one-off just like this, or if Volks performed an eye-opening service on her after? Either way, I find her utterly fascinating and I'm in love. I would be interested to hear other inputs!
