Volks Super Dollfie - SD, SD13, SD16, SD17, SDGr, SDGou & FCS - XXX

Jan 7, 2021

    1. The only one I know from personal experience in terms of color would be SQ Lab. I have a white resin head from OziN5 that I used to have on the SQ Lab 61 in white resin. I have since moved that head onto a Volks SD16 white body from a Johanna, the color is a good match. I also have normal resin hand parts made by SQ Lab for SD17 boys. All of these dolls and parts are years old now, so while they were matches at the time, I don't know if SQ still matches Volks equally well.

I don't know about head fit for Lorina and Beth on say an SQ Lab 60cm body, but it might be worth investigating if you like it.
The plus side of SQ Lab bodies are the very nice hands and feet, and people always commented on how nicely sculpted the legs are. And of course they offer jointed ankle flat feet legs and smooth ankle heel legs.

    2. Thank you! Xanthi of Jointed Love did her faceup.

    3. Thank you for the link. The body looks really good and what I had on my mind. Will do more research about it. Will see if I can find any comparison photo as well.
      Thank you :whee:

    4. I have my 2015 Kohya head on Sqlab DG59 body from 2021! If you want a photo, let me know, I can send it on DM ❤️

    5. @mx_95 I'd also be interested in seeing your hybrid, as may others so if you could post the picture in the thread, that would be wonderful.:)

    6. Sorry for the back to back, but on a similar note I decided to hybrid my Le petit frere on a True Love SD body. I'd originally bought this body for another doll and then realized I'd made a mistake afterwards. I misremembered the neck size of the head, and the neck hole was going to be to big for this body. I'd originally bought an Angel of Dream body for my Le petit frere, but the neck was to long and thin for my taste, and the body to tall.

The True Love body is also taller then I would like, but I find the overall proportions better, so I'll live with it. Also, because the body has a thigh joint in the future I could also cut the thigh down a bit to make him a tad bit shorter.

In regards to resin matching True Love white has a yellow undertone while Volks white is more peach. But with a faceup you can hardly tell in person or in pictures.

Here's a picture of him on the True love body with his original Volks SD body on the viewers left and the Angel of Dream body with a Dollzone Celine head on the viewers right and my Ernest on the SDGr13 Revival body. Ernest looks like he's about as tall as the other two but is actually quite a bit shorter as he's currently in heels and on a stand with about a 1cm thick base. I'd wanted my Le petit to be shorter then Ernest, but I guess Ernest will just have to be the shorty of the house. XD
      [IMG]

And here he is all dressed up. I'll probably be sending him off for a new faceup later this year, and can add another doll to my completed list!

    8. I'm adding nude photos below! This body is gorgeous but you have to get used to how slim it is! I personally like it, it has more of DD proportions. My head is slightly more yellow because of the age but I can easily make it appear less on photos. Also from what I know the DG60 and 61 bodies has just slightly longer legs but everything looks kinda the same!!

Edit: and I also got two additional pairs of hands - they look SUPER similar to SDGR hands.

    9. Thank you a lot for taking these photo, appreciate it :3nodding:
It helped me to see how it would look. The body itself looks very beautiful.
Can I ask about the neck? Was it easy to put the head on the body? I am asking as I am not good at modding :aeyepop:.
      Thank you again :kitty2

    10. It was easy! I'd even say I think the neck is even slimmer than normal sd10/13/SDGR girl body so there will be a gap. i can actually check it later with another head, since Kohya is male model and she has even bigger neck hole, she didn't exactly fit on girl's body anyway... but I don't mind it, it even poses good and for me it's not really visible!

    11. Really, its really not visible. The proportion just seemed right. Might get one body and see how it goes.
The hands really looks nice too.

      Thank you :3nodding:

    12. @Black Pearl Thank you for the complement.

@mx_95 Thanks for the pictures, Koyha looks great on that body.

    13. Oh wow! I hadn’t thought of that body for an option before, but it looks great! I may have to consider it since it’s so hard to get a SDGrg body.

Wanted to show a pic of the sisters since I hardly ever take photos of them together. F-19 and F-22, Miko and Ducky:

    14. Wow that both of those bodies makes for great hybrids! Thank you for sharing photos @mx_95 and @Cloudedmind!

@Aiko-chan Miko and Ducky are both so sweet! I love that dotted tulle dress!

I caved and ordered an SDGr F-16 from Volks USA FCS. He will be my first Graffiti boy! F-16 is so nostalgic, and with him being discontinued, I wasn't sure if he would ever be available again. I took the chance on Pureskin white with vivid makeup and am curious to see how he will turn out!

    16. Lorina II arrived couple of days ago and I am extremely happy to be able to own this girl finally :D:D
She will be sent back to have her original make up re-done :3nodding:
At first I didn't know if I should get her original make up back or give her a custom make up, I was confused :aeyepop:.
But decided to give her back her original make up as I felt I really like it very much :XD::D:D

Here she is Lorina II :dance

    17. @Black Pearl - You have a lovely lady there. Congrats!

I wonder since Volks announced their F-99 head recently if F-100 is right around the corner or not. I low-key hope that they'll do something nuts, like letting us order SDGr girls or something to celebrate (maybe one in TAN?). One can dream. :abambi:

    19. Hello all~
I have a favour to ask, would love to see pictures of Lieselotte with 18mm and 20mm eyes!
Would love to know which size I should start looking for :whee:
Thank you so much in advance~ :celebrate

    20. @XiaoCream My apologies for the ancient photo, but these are 18mm Everpurple eyes in my Lieselotte. This version (1st) came with 18mm green eyes. Not sure if that's been true with the later ones.

    21. @St. James Thank you for this beautiful picture! I remember my first one had 18mm and I think it is a good size but was wondering she she could wear 20mms without looking bug-eyed. I'm sure 20mm eyes are pretty rare to have unless you have a doll with HUGE eyes, so hoping someone here has a 20mm pair and a Lieselotte X'D

    22. Today while I was searching about Volks and Disney Frozan collaboration. I noticed that it will be in few stages. Are they going to release them in other size? Like msd or yosd? I thought they are going to be released only in Sd13/sdgr size :sweat

Does anyone have more information about it :3nodding:

Photo belong to volks that made me feel other size of young Elsa and Anna will be released :thumbup
      [IMG]

    23. @Black Pearl They are doing DearSD versions of them also.

@XiaoCream Charlotte came with 20mm eyes, so it's possible. I'm sure some other people must have gotten both girls together. My wife sold her Charlotte years ago, but I recall thinking we could have swapped their eyes without a problem. It will definitely make her look very young.

    24. Thank you:3nodding: I never thought of Dearsd ver. Omg :D.. will be looking forward to their release :frownyblush::frownyblush::frownyblush:
Any other update when to expect their release ?

      Thank you again :)

    25. @Black Pearl Here is the VolksUSA link for you, in case you don't have it : Super Dollfie® DISNEY Collection "Frozen"

There will be 4 dolls. 2 DearSD (Anna & Elsa), SD13 Anna and SDGr Elsa. No additional info. Everyone has been guessing this fall we should see them. But ... no actual date. :sweat

      • x 4

    26. Thank you for sharing link :kitty2
I hope too this fall they release them all :D

    27. I understand they are trying to stop scalpers and recasters, but...if you don't live in the US and/or have the ability to go to Japan just too bad for you then?

At least make a global version of the USA online FCS system so people in other countries have some chance at getting the doll they want.

(On the other hand, confirmation that they will be taking fcs orders for GL members visiting Kyoto is nice...but again, not everyone can get there.)

      • x 7
    28. Yeah…. And even then with GL membership holders being allowed to order FCS, does that mean that they’ll change their policy of only shipping FCS within Japan? Or does that mean two trips to place the order and to pick up the doll in person when ready?

      • x 1
    29. @DemonMiko They've stated in their GL Membership info page that you need to be there in person both to order and pick up your FCS. With Covid restrictions loosening the GL Membership is pointless imo.

      • x 3
    30. Volks' rules are Volks' rules and I'll respect them. I'm willing to accept that if a company doesn't want me to buy their luxury product, I don't need to buy it.
I'm very happy to read that there is a possibility I'll be able to do a Sato FCS order by myself someday in the future.

It looks like GL members currently can do the 2 trip FCS order and pick up from what I read on the GL membership page, but they're saying they are preparing for changes, so hopefully that means adding shipping. I'll cross my fingers.

    31. Today I logged in to my Volks Japan account, and realized that the auto-renewal applies to just "online", but not to any of the other Global membership privileges. There's a little box below the "Online Customer Expiration Date: Indefinite" that showed my June 2021 expiration date, and "-- Click here to upgrade to GL membership", so... I went ahead and did that, for what it's worth, lol.

Also, I didn't have the filling-out issues, since my desktop PC and Chrome browser auto-translates; maybe that's a problem if you're trying to do it on smartphones or tablets with other browsers?

      • x 2
    32. How long does it take for the FCS to be done? I'm going for a few weeks next year, and if I could order one at the start of my trip and pick it up at the end that would be cool.

      • x 1
    33. I believe for a no makeup FCS, it's usually about 2-3 months. An FCS with faceup is about 3-4 months. I wish it'd be a week or so. That would be lovely.

      • x 4
    34. My most recent no make-up order took 1 month. (2021)
My previous make-up order took 2 months! (2013)
I think someone who’s done it recently can help to clarify the make-up doll timeframe XD
If you stay for a lil over a month, you have a chance to collect an no make-up FCS!

    35. Reading the volks notice about resale of FCS dolls and proxy purchases, are they just saying you can't purchase dolls with the intention of immediately reselling them (like for proxy sellers) or is ANY reselling of a FCS doll not ok? I'm going through google translate so maybe the original japanese is more clear, but the Volks notice says:

"Any products that were ordered under false pretenses, including products ordered via proxy or for resale purposes, will not be eligible for the customer service warranty. In addition, SD Full Choice models that have been found to be resold will have their Birth Certificates invalidated and they will not be eligible for any owner-limited services, maintenance, etc."

The second sentence makes it sound like any reselling of FCS dolls isn't ok according to Volks? Which is too bad because I'm sure I'm not the only one here who's ordered a FCS doll and sold it years later. :?

      • x 5
    36. Volks has been complaining about proxy services for as long as proxy services and Super Dollfie have existed, and you'll notice that that's not actually stopped anyone from using them. They're not going to cut off their access to the incredibly wealthy Chinese BJD market, at the least.

It's as far as I know always been their policy that the name on the FCS paper needs to match the name of the person sending it in for maintenance so I don't thinks that's new either.

      • x 7
    37. If they won’t change the shipping rule for FCS for GL then it really isn’t a useful feature unless you live nearby (thinking China/South Korea and the like), and right now on the GL page they do specifically say it requires order and pick in person (if you read it in Japanese bc the English translation goes off) so tbh I don’t feel that good about them changing it. I get their position, but it is frustrating that they aren’t putting out more ways to offer the service to people instead of just trying to block proxies.

(I would guess covid has caused an increase in proxy usage, probably even locally as we have at times been advised not to travel over the past year, which might have helped prompt this…)

      • x 4
    38. Accurate. This has been their policy for more than a decade and none of this announcement is new.

      • x 3
    39. i just don't understand why they don't want proxy services for their products. like, do you want my money or not? lol

      • x 4
    40. If they don't want proxy to exist, better do something about it for their International buyers:|.
Also, extremely make no sense for GL membership to apply and pick up from store:doh. If its only application and it got delivered to their homeland address that is registered under their membership would be a better option :huh?:
Also, who did report to Volks about those fees being high? I mean if they don't like the proxy fees then they don't have to buy it. They can check others with better proxy fees :aeyepop:. Why go complain to Volks? Wasn't they who approached the proxy service in the first place :huh?:

In my opinion, I feel better if Volks work on finding solution for those scalper who buy their limited dolls and re-sell immediately for very high profit. Not proxy services that charges for a little profit :sweat. Unless they are welling to do an online FCS order as not a lot of people have time/money/health to travel abroad :shudder.

      • x 8
    41. Volks has always been about the pain in the ass exclusivity and their market domination has shown that it works. It's been years and I'm stills surprised that they unbent enough to allow the online FCS for the US.

edit: Did anyone figure out the issue with the GL Membership? I'm getting the same error when I try to check out.

    42. For the GL membership, the only way to fix it seems to be emailing Volks. I am not sure what they changed with my name, but after I emailed them and received a response, it worked. :)

      • x 3
    43. Imo, even if they never approved of proxy service, I think people shouldn’t be so complacent with it. This is literally a slap to the face to the global market. Even their preferred market (the Japanese) are selling off their Kasumis and scalping for rare models. So no, they don’t deserve the respect they want. They need to at least provide international shipping if GL are required to come to Japan. What a ridiculous and unreasonable notion to force the buyer to stay several months to get just an FCS.

      • x 7
    44. Yup. I realized after I had to do the add to cart and check out to renew. I ended up emailing Volks because I had the same error as so many. But after Volks replied and fixed the issue, I was able to check out and renew! Hooray! :cheer

I didn't buy anything from Volks last year but I did notice they have a tagline that points don't carry over until the next year. I wish we could bank the points and save it for a really big purchase. Ah well.

      • x 2
    45. I agree. I realize more and more how much I dislike Volks as a company as the years go by. While it's true that this has always been their public sentiment towards proxy services, I found it particularly egregious to put out such a message just a few years after the Junichi Nakahara incident.

I wanted to point some things out about the GL Membership too. Because in my eyes it's a spit in the face to international buyers.

They list Members Only Events, Dolpa, Tenshi-no-Sato, and Tenshi-no-Tsumika and Doll Point Shopping as eventual features (none of these have been implemented and no date has been given) but these are already available to overseas hobbyists with one-day event passes. They're actually removing the one-day pass to make it seem like the GL Membership is worth anything. The fact that they listed Tenshi-no-Tsumika and Doll Point Shopping is a big ??? for me as well. You don't need any pass to shop at these stores (unless something has changed - I'm open to someone correcting me).

The "free" Volks News requires you to purchase another item alongside it, the FCS and Doctor services are unusable to visitors that aren't doing extended stays in Japan, and because we don't have the option to pay in cash the point system is next to non-existent ($100 = $1).

The only thing "really" offered is the mail order products, and even those tend to hit Volks USA, which doesn't require a GL Membership. Oh, and the Members-Only E-mail. So glad I'm not missing out on that lol.

      • x 6
    46. I tried my phone, tablet, PC with 3 browsers including Chrome and still got the error, sadly.

    47. You don’t need a membership - this is there because they’re eventually going to allow you to show your membership at these stores when shopping there and earn points, like local membership holders, but like all the other local stuff, it’s suspended bc borders are still pretty much closed (for what its worth, the measly point pay out is a Japan thing in general - there are tons of points programs here that all offer minuscule returns)

On the whole though, yeah, it’s not a great deal unless you can travel to Japan often without them changing some things such as allowing FCS and dolls left for care services to be shipped out when finished. I suppose one good thing is they so far seem to be giving advance notice of needing it to register for a doll so you can just skip it until it becomes necessary.

    48. Or maybe they can have you order online (through a video call if they want it to be more personal) and then pick up the doll in person? I'd kinda like that better.

      • x 4
    49. Ooh, I probably would prefer that too - save on shipping and less risk of damage - though then they have to be good at providing accurate pick up dates. Either way, they really should look at getting it to be at least a one trip deal
