I took off a day from work (we are getting near the end of the school year and the kids are quite restless now, teaching is hard lol), so I tried to fit some time in for taking photos.

Every time I look at Miss Morgan, my Belle, I can’t get over how gorgeous I find her! I keep thinking I’ve moved on to a new favourite, but that face and graffiti body just bring me right back to her. She’ll be getting a new pair of eyes soon, still violet but brighter, so I’m excited to see what she’ll look like with them in.

@demi.yu A mermaid tail would've certainly been the icing on the cake. I, however, am a little thankful Volks doesn't put too many fantasy elements with their sculpts.... Because my wallet would be completely emptied after trying to buy at least 90% of them.

@Aiko-chan I actually didn't recognize Miss Morgan as a Belle at first..! I really, really adore her face up and how you've styled her.

 

Hi, a little off topic, but I want to know if anyone can compare Volk's normal skin resin to that of Luts' Obitsu white/Real skin peach tone. I have an artist head that the artist says is very near the Volks NS and currently have it on a Luts NS body but the skin tones are quite different. I'm curious if the Obistsu white would be a closer match or not. I went with a Luts body because I don't think I'll be able to get my hands on the artist's recommended SD17 body anytime soon lol. Thanks for the help!

 

@Miss_Lovely791 Looks like there are quite a few threads in Photo Reference that might help you out. SD17 bodies are far more easily obtainable than they used to be, at least.

 

@demi.yu Oh gosh, your Amabie is so gorgeous! I would have died if she had a mermaid tail option. I can't imagine an official Disney Ariel SD looking anywhere as cute as she.

If Volks made more fantasy dolls, especially elves, my wallet would be a goner.

Personally I'd love to get an ever beauty, but only on an sdgr girl body. It would make no sense to have a eb head on a regular resin body and see them look different over time. If they ever had sdgrg for just the eb fcs even, I'd pounce on the chance to have my dream doll.

As soon as I got the notification from VolksUSA about the restocked items I went looking for Mai and she's out of stock already??? so I'm not the only one with a Mai obsession, I'm already waiting for her but I wanted to complete the set with the normal skin, I prefer to order from Volks USA but I guess I will have to go to volks japan

Oh wow, stuff from the last Volks international clickwar is shipping already! I just got my shipping notice today. I expected it to be a lot longer since the Kansai region in particular has been hit pretty hard with covid lately.

 

It does seem like a fast turnaround this time. And yet I've already forgotten exactly what I ordered. Always makes for an easy wait!

It was gorgeous out last Sunday, so I actually took some photos in the garden. Now it's back to foggy and so windy the Golden Gate bridge is making its creepy thrumming howl. Spring lasted two days...

 

I wish VOLKS let me to choose a SDGR girl size body in FCS!!!!

 

I know! really hope they end up putting it in in the future considering there's a high demand for it. >.<

 

I've been waiting for the SDGr girl body to be added to FCS since before the LA Sumika closed. It might be a bit cynical, but I think @XiaoCream was right - Volks doesn't want to tank limited girl sales by making it readily available. I've bought so many limiteds just to cannibalize them for parts, I'm sure that tactic does make up a significant portion of annual sales.

 

I hear that about buying for parts. At the last minute, I stopped Nyle from ordering his Brina (Lucia) because I wanted the bod and he wants a girlfriend, but she was just too young-looking. We must wait. Maybe Elsa?

 

I agree about the demand for the SDGrg body being a reason it’s still limited. I’d love more of it but alas...

@St. James He’s gorgeous and looks so relaxed! Makes me want to try and go outside (and hopefully not die from the heat).

Miss Morgan finally got her new eyes in a lighter tint of violet! They actually have a little sparkle to them that is near impossible to photograph, lol. I think I like this lighter colour better.

Hey y'all, this is a kind of a rookie question, but do the SD/SD13 hands fit the girl graffiti body? I just got a Lorina and she's my first resin Volks doll (I have Dollfie Dreams) and I'd like to have hand options for her. If those DON'T work then where would I find option parts?

 

I think you may need a ball attachment to make the SD/13 hands work, but otherwise I believe they can share? Some of the SD sculpts might be too small to be proportional though. I think Volks sells the balls separately too? It's been a while.
If you want to find actual SDGRg hands you can check second hand stores like Dollyteria and Mandarake, or try Mercari or Y!J. They appear pretty frequently there too.

Your best option though is probably just wait until the Lucia preorders ship and see if anyone is willing to let you piggyback on their spare parts order sheet! To my knowledge there's no limit to how many of each type of part you can order (probably within reason lol, but I've ordered doubles of multiple pairs of hands before without issue).

 

@Galahndriel SD/SD13 hands do work on SDGrG, they are just a different aesthetic. I had fun swapping hands between my Sophie and SD Coco. Just realizing I should post that comparison once I redo Sophie's hands. SD16 are the ones who need the extra ball for using hands.

 

Took way too many photos today, it felt so good to play with the dolls and finally unbox a new arrival, Ushiwakamaru (standing out in her blue wig, hehe). And I finally got to change outfits and wigs for the gang. Changing the wigs on my dolls really transformed them and I just fell in love all over again. I really like the fresh looks!! I have too many photos to post, but only a group shot for now because, well, spam. And I like their socializing. I think my Hijikata and Okita are getting cozy, and maybe Ushiwakamaru isn't so happy that she isn't the center of attention. Belldandy and Suigintou are styling hair and accessories - maybe trying to impress the boy?

 

I'm no doubt being a bit thick, but I can't figure out what sculpt this head is...it's already sold so I'm not getting in the way of anyone, but it's really puzzled me...

Since I habe never preordered a doll there...do you know whether or not the amount will be charged soon or if Volks will wait and take the amount a few weeks/months before shipment? I have read somewhere they are just temporary holding the amount, is that correct?

 

@Nell, @Kim - Thanks so much...I thought I recognised it but couldn't place it... Kikyou was a wanted sculpt by me for ages but I gave up on ever finding one, and it's interesting to see how much a faceup can change your perception...

@celis814 - I checked the F45 as it was what the blurb said, but it just didn't look right...the face is a completely different shape...

 

@Alice80 thats why I love seeing one-offs. Sometimes sculpts I never noticed before can look really amazing in a different style.
The 45 is from the sculpt ID number carved in the headcap.

 

It happened to me and most ppl that I know, the fund was hold and returned temporarily. The fund was once again charged on the 14th in my case. My friend still waits for the charge, so I would say it depends on the type of bank which processes the fund. In the meantime, please do not move/use that fund because your bank will eventually complete the charge.

 

I literally never thought it would happen but I can finally say I have a Lorina!! She's been my ultimate grail for so long and now she's here!!! She still needs a name though. As nice as Jo is it's also my mother's name so it would be a bit weird lol

yay I got the tracking number for dolpha45 clothes I order from Volks japan. it was pretty faster than I thought for the new season outfit.and I keep regret that I should have bought the silver black set together.. I hope volks usa sell it soon but it seems like it's lottery for the outfit as well??

 

A little over a week ago, I received a dream come true in the mail - my Williams is finally home.



I remember when the very first Williams was released (back in ‘06? ‘07?). I was living in Japan at the time and fell head over heels in love with him. I waited patiently when he went on sale, got him in my cart, and the website crashed. By the time it was back up again, all of the boys were gone. I was heartbroken! He was ungettable for me for so long. I started to wonder whether or not I would ever bring him home, lol. Then I saw this boy on Mandarake, no one had snatched him up because of his poor broken hand, and I fell in love. It was meant to be!

He is so amazing and changeable in person, so dynamic. He looks different from every angle, and he has so much sweetness and grumpiness all at once! I can’t wait to get to know him and spoil him in the years to come.

 

Congratulations, @Majenta! I'm so happy you were able to get your dream boy!!! I hope you share more photos of him; Williams is one of my favorites, too!

Regarding GL Membership, Volks still has the 524 Yen membership up on their website. But the new 838 Yen membership lists as opening as expected on 6/4/21. Does anyone understand this better than I do? I'm just confused at there being two options still listed. Is it really that the new 838 Yen Membership will completely replace the old one, or something else altogether?

 

@Insane-Chan It'll change on June 4th I think...that's when the price increase hits..so I guess if you want to save $3 and change get the membership now...

 

The $8 membership comes with a copy of Volks News for whatever period you order in. Which is kind of... eh. You don't get it new, nor do you get it at release, so it's kind of a waste of $3 imo. Wish they could just give it to us digitally like they did a few years ago. I think it will completely replace the old $5 membership.

Anyone know if you lose your points if you let your membership lapse? I assume you do.
