So not all of the one-offs sold in person? How interesting. And pretty great that they decided to do a lottery instead of making them Sumika monthly one-offs.

My new old guy just arrived from Mandarake, though, so it's definitely not my turn to bring home another doll! Has Mandarake always been Chinese owned? I can't recall seeing Zhu Hui Shi Shem Co on my bank receipts before.

 

Oh my! Some of those one-offs were really gorgeous...Oh, I might be in danger...(I mean, the chances of actually winning the lottery are slim, so I'm not exactly getting my hopes up...but still. WHAT IF??)

 

Buying a doll secondhand is a weird mix of waiting forever and instant gratification. Claude came out in 2013, but I only bought him last week and now he's here!

He looks amazing for an eight year old doll; flawless face-up, no scuffs anywhere, resin a beautiful even tone, ridiculous default outfit of questionable taste is going to remain ridiculous in its package.

Can anyone with a Shadowskin Shirou tell me if he came with an order form for extra hands?

 

Well, they did make their entire current FCS line up of SDs and SDMidi. Between the sheer volume of dolls, preorders of 3 amazing girls, covid and likely attendance possibly down, it isn’t surprising. It looks like they’ve canceled a bunch of AE in some of the stores, again, likely a covid culprit. Easier to do it online and probably less headache. And this way more people can enter this way. Yay!

@pris84 You make a good point. I suppose in the end it shouldn't be surprising that not all the one-offs sold during the convention. Still, I'm sure they won't have any trouble finding takers once the lotteries go up!

 

That's amazing and surprising, but kind of understandable given the state of travel at the moment. I wonder what's made it to the online lottery.

For the sake of my wallet and/or (far more probable) heartbreak, the FCS 63 and 90 better not be on that list.... Urgh.... No more Volks.... Please stop showing me more gorgeous dolls without releasing Elsa....

 

Maybe it's because I have curly hair, but honestly, curly wigs aren't that hard for me. Most of the time I can tame down frizzies just by twirling the curl around my finger a bit to re-form the curl. If it's tangled enough to need a brushing, I brush each curl individually (I don't usually need to do the whole wig, usually just the top section, but I don't photograph my dolls as much so YMMV) with a toothbrush and then reform the curl around my finger. A little oil mist wig spray helps with this a lot. But like I said, my natural hair is very curly, so I've been working with curls all my life.

She's so beautiful! the most beautiful doll I've ever seen. I was wondering, do you know where can I get her? on Volks I only see "Volks SD Mai" is that the same as Volks SD F-81? is it just the face up that changes? any help on where to get her is appreciated!

 

I’ve been very anxious to see which of the dp45 one offs make it to online lottery, and if they’ll be open to entry from GL members. I feel like any of the ones I like are probably popular enough that they got entries at the event but it’s still exciting to think there might be a slight chance.

 

The link that Volks gave for F-81 is the same as the the standard release Mai. Same face sculpt with a different faceup. It’s amazing how much a sculpt changes depending on the makeup style.

Volks usually paints their clothing models in special ways and if that’s specifically the look you want, FCS is the best way. If you live in Japan or know someone there who can order for you, that’s one way to do it. If you’re overseas, you’ll want to search for a proxy to help. There’s a few that I know of here on DOA, so I’d recommend you do a quick search for them.

 

Yes, Volks SD Mai and F-81 are the same head sculpt. Mai is a standard model, which comes with a default faceup, eyes, wig, and clothes. F-81 needs to be ordered through the Full Choice System, but you'll have options to customize the body parts, skin and eye color, faceup (optional), wigs, etcetc. FCS is only available in Japan, though. There's an online version from VolksUSA every few months, but it only has a limited selection of heads, so F-81 might not be available.

I will apply for marketplace access to see if I cam find a reliable proxy that can help me get one, if not then I will order the standard one. Though the make up that comes with him is too pink for my taste, he has lots of interesting face features!
I have been interested in F71 since it came out, almost adopted the one in the marketplace, fell in love with the one modeling the uniform in this AE, was considering FCS but saw one on Dollyteria... Turned out I got the head before AE

I've been looking through the info for Lieselotte and i noticed she's had releases with DD and SD size wigs? Should I be aiming for 8-9 or 9-10??

 

@Arletstar I've got a couple of twins. And a few I wouldn't mind getting another one of. So, I know how you feel.

 

@Arletstar - I only have one set of twins, but they're not the exact same sculpt. F01 and old F05/F03. I also have an SDM and YO version of the Four Sisters. But twins can be fun and they seem to multiply.

 

I've had no trouble with 8-9 wigs on my girl. I did a huge wig test when she arrived. If those photos still exist I'll link them.

ETA: Lieselotte in wigs, a slightly garbage thread because DoA is broken. The photos are the correct size and linked to an active host, but still only half of them show.

 

Both of the transactions for Lieselotte & Charlotte which I ordered from Volks Int. have disappeared on my bank statement and the money looks like never leave the bank. I checked my purchases’ history and everything seems fine as both stated:

A few of us were talking about this on another social media page a few days ago. It seems like we all had Volks take and return the funds. I'm guessing they'll finalize the funds once the order period ends. I doubt they'll wait until the dolls ship to take their money. Not to worry. As long as you see the order number on your history and have the confirmation email, you're good to go.

 

Oh my, that makes me feel less worried as many others got into the same situation. Because I thought it could be my credit card was at fault for the fund to be returned. Thank you for clarifying the cause.

@Arletstar, I have 3 F16s, 2 Mashas, 2 School As (with another on my wishlist...*sigh* I'm a sucker for a lovely faceup...), 2 Chris, and multiples of the Lucai (Lucas, Chris, Sasha, Masha, F16, etc) so all my dolls look like they're related even when they aren't. And none of them are twins, although the School As plus the Chris' are brother and sister. So lots of the same sculpts...

Claude is one of the few dolls I didn't mess with. Initially, I had plans, but his personality is all show-biz so the faceup suits him. He loves to show off his abs and I don't mind at all.

I have decided to have 2 Mias! even though the one-off I wanted wasn't offered by volks I can still get the standard version and give her a sweet face up. I'm not a face up expert but I will try. I found her eyes on Volks! so I'm hopeful but I'll wait for my first Mia first. I'm so excited! in 4 months she will be in my hands
