@Chobittum I have a Tyltyl! Although mine has the Volks faceup and a wig that's a similar color to the fullset one, so it's not exactly a dramatically different look.

We just got some nice fresh snow this weekend ^^

 

Good news everyone! Volks USA has released a statement saying that they will be now holdings AE Lotteries for ALL Volks LE dolls! Yay!!!

I think a big thank you is due to all the hardcore Volks fans and everyone who showed Volks USA love over the past 3 years... it seems like they went through a trial period and will be expanding their business model again!

@Chobittum I saw a Tyltyl on insta a couple weeks ago that totally made me wonder why I overlooked the sculpt so much before. I'm not sure if it was the same one you saw since I remember him having dark hair but gosh I feel like if Volks had styled him differently maybe he'd have gotten more attention when he was released. Maybe I just wasn't paying much attention at the time but it didn't seem like he got much hype. He's super cute though.

AE Lotteries for ALL Volks LE dolls

What does that mean exactly? Who would it be in February? is it one offs or number limited...

 

@TreeLore I believe it means returning to the After Events that Volks USA held prior to their physical location shutdown. They almost always had a Volks USA release for every AE doll with the exception being those whose Intellectual Property wasn't available for release outside of Japan (usually happened with Dollfie Dreams).

This is not related to One-Offs- it's the LE dolls from Dolpas, I think? For example if they had an AE for the last Dolpa it'd be SDGr Ernie, SDGr Theodore, DDS Sailor Moon and DD Ruri. It's basically the same afterevent as for the webstore in Japan but this one is for Volks USA customers only.

 

Thanks for clearing that up. I do think Volks is confusing often!

 

I'm both super excited for this and side-eyeing that it's coming after the DD Sailor Moon (which I really, really want). But this is great news for VolksUSA customers! Hopefully I will get back to my super lottery luck ways!!

 

The USA store is bring AE lotteries back? Such fabulous news! That international shipping gets to be a bit crazy sometimes.

 

Funny because I was looking at Tyltyl recently and thinking he would make a good girl. Have you tried putting his head on a girl body such as a SD13? I would be interested if you feel up to it! In this photo his head doesn't look larger than Mytyl?

Saki looks quite different than I am used to seeing her. I think that wig with the curves around her face really suits her.

I have wanted to get a Tyltyl and put him on a Gr or SD16 girl body for /months/. I think his default face is super pretty and would make a very striking girl.

 

VolksUSA will hold a lottery for SDGr Ernest & Theodore! Entry in Feb.1-10.

I'm so excited that VolksUSA AE lotteries are returning. I won't be able to enter for either of these 2 but I'm getting anxious for the March Dolpa already.

Has anyone entered the international AE? I entered for Ernest. As the announcement for the results are supposed to happen before the VolksUSA lottery, I figured if I didn't win there I'd have a second go at it.

 

I'm curious, did Volks charge your CC or just placed a hold when you entered for the international AE?

 

My credit card currently shows I have a pending charge from Volks. No funds have been taken out yet.

 

Thanks for the info! I have a Lorina on a SD13 body and I like the look so it would be fine by the sound of it. I will keep an open mind to the idea should I come across a Tyltyl head for sale :=)
Ah yes I heard that Mytyl has a wide forehead and some people like and some don't like that.

I was thinking of selling my F20, but after putting him back on his SD13 body (I had him on an SD10 for a while, but I think it's too small for his melon head), adjusting his eyes and trying a new wig, I fell in love all over again.

I love all the pics Volks has been posting on Insta of the new dormitory boys. I probably won't be able to afford one, but maybe I'll put up a WTB for one of those outfits...

 

It's funny how just a couple of small changes can bring a doll back from the "to sell" pile. He's super cute! It's rare to see older Volks heads on the forum.

I'm waffling on the dormitory boys. The new body sounds interesting, and I have a hard time saying no to Lucai, buuuuuut there aren't a whole lot of owner photos yet. If I was good I'd have to sell off at least one of my current dolls to afford them. Been stuck in a loop of "I want them! But I already have similar ones! But I want all the variants! But I'd have to sell off other dolls! BUT I WANT THEM!"

 

@whitebread Yeah, I've been trying to find as many pictures as I can of the boys and the new body. There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of them floating around. So either they weren't that popular or Volks didn't make that many. I've had some luck just doing straight image searches, and came across a blog or two.

 

I'm still waffling about the new guys... On the one hand, they're adorable. On the other? I seriously don't need another Lucas-type dude. I really do not.

Plus my car just cost me a small fortune at the mechanics' (I drive a first-gen Prius hybrid. After 15 years it finally needed a new main battery. Ouch. o_0), which makes me side-eye the concept of spending another pile of money, even if it would come from my "fun money" stash rather than the main account.

So... yeah. Even though I may end up regretting it, at the moment I'm leaning more in the skipping-them direction. Though I haven't completely made up my mind yet.

 

I like the new boys, but Rigel is the one I really regret missing out on Maybe someday.

 

I want Ernest so bad but I am traveling to Seattle for big con soon and therefore, no new doll for me.

I finally got a nice wig for Keith and he is slowly coming together. Still need to get him repainted.

 

@Cloudedmind I've mostly been seeing Ernest on Instagram (and untagged, thanks Japan) but barely any Theodore. And hardly any repaints. I'd love to pop Ernest on a girl body and see what happens.

Speaking of changes, I swapped my Lucas and Reisner bodies and ended up loving the Reisner on the SD13! Plus Gio (Lucas) looks amazing on the SD17 body, even if he doesn't match his twin anymore. Guess it's time to find SD17 clothes that aren't going to break my bank account (looking at you, Freedom Teller) and give up on the idea of simplifying my collection.

 

Freedom Teller's outfits are so nice though... Darn pricey, granted, but worth every penny.

Agh I love Freedom Teller a lot too but I have yet to own any of their sets The price is just too much of a turn off... also the really great limited ones sell out so quickly.. The most recent Equestrian set looks soo good BTW that FT set you have on your Williams has such a great cutting! The quality is no joke XD

 

De-lurking to share that I’ve received an email that I won Ernest in the after event He’s my first doll purchase since 2013 as I’ve been focusing on enjoying the dolls I already have, but I couldn’t resist a white skin Lucai—he will join Chris and Kaelin in my doll family

 

@ashlia Congrats! I'll also be bringing home an Ernest. At first I thought I hadn't won because I checked my emails from my phone and didn't see the notice. The notice had gone to my junk mail, and I didn't see it until I signed in from my work computer.

@ashlia Yes! Maybe I can order him some clothes before he shows up. I should probably get my RG Williams so actual clothes as well, other then the ones he came with so I can take pictures of them together.

@whitebread Same, Ernest seems to be more popular, which I can understand since he's essentially a sweet dream Chris, which we've never had before. I would love to see a comparison between Theo, Ernest, Lucas and Chris, and SwD Lucas.

 

Guys, I just did the unspeakable! Today I picked up my F-62 and F-35 heads from the post office. They just got their face up done by Rianne.
They are beautiful but unfortunately, F-62’s head fell off and rolled on the hardwood floor as I was putting her head back on the body, causing MSC chip on the tip of her nose, eyebrow, and both cheeks. Damaging the very face up I JUST received back! Thankfully there doesn’t seem to be any chip signs on the resin itself. I’ve been in this hobby for over 10 years and never had such accident, and now it happened within 30 mins of me getting my grail doll back from face up. I am so upset I can’t even cry
She’s going back to Rianne on Saturday and hopefully when she’s back, her head doesn’t roll off on the ground again >_<

 

Oh gosh, I'm so sorry to hear that What an awful thing to happen! How long will it be until she can come back from the hospital? Do you have any progress photos of the face-up before it got damaged to tide you over?

 

Sadly no ;_; I took a photo AFTER she got the damage. It literally happened so fast after I unpacked the box.
I even didn't want to take too many pic of the damage as to not remind myself it happened haha... She's going back on Saturday, maybe I'll get her back in 1-2 months? I'm not quiet sure... As long as she's back to normal

On the other hand, I suppose my F-35 can enjoy all the new face up love glory. I'll post a pic of her soon. Her new face up is so adorable!

 

Hey guys, not sure if this is the right place to ask but I just got my SDGR belle from mandarake, she's really really beautiful but I found out that she's really loosely strung..

Here's a picture of her body... I have no experience in restringing bodies so I'm kind of panicking. Any tips? Do I really have to take the entire thing apart considering the string is only super loose on her neck? Thanks in advance... I will take pics of my girl after I fix the body..

 

@Cirnoe you don’t have to unstrung

There is a plastic fastener at the top attached to the string on the s hook, pull it down to make it tighter

For me I didn’t think that was enough because it kept going back and becoming loose again so i pull it up and make a new knot without unstringing just pull up the string from the neck and make a new knot without separating the string and keeping it double i also cut off the extra string because it filled her head

I also make hot glue suede on the head where the head meets the neck just a small ring of glue and smear it when it is still hot i do the same for the knees and the elbow joints maybe you don’t need it because of the silicone cut outs but I don’t like how it keep moving out so i use hot glue and removed the silicone cut outs

@Cirnoe you don't have to restring her at all. I really love how Volks set up the GrG body, that zip tie at the top makes many things much easier. I've had Gr girls since they introduced Lorina (I think I have ten now?) and the body is engineered to work best when it's nice and tight. You can have someone else hold the body and then pull the strings one at a time to get them tighter and to adjust tension on either side. (Or, I will put the body between my knees and then adjust the strings if I have no help.) Belle is one of my favorite Gr girls, congrats on getting her!!

 

The info for the February New Outfit Collection is out now.

I'm liking that there's more casual outfits for boys this time around since I feel like the boys clothes tend lean on the "costume-y" side. I have sights on the Black Knit Cowl & Long Cardigan Set personally.

 

Ooh - love the Bordeaux Knit Cowl & Long Cardigan Set. Will have to keep my eye out for that in the future unless other dolly purchases prohibit it.

@Cirnoe Congrats! Your Belle is gorgeous! She has such a youthful expression.

 

Ooooh, I absolutely need at least one pair of those girl boots! They're exactly what I've been looking for for some of the outfits I got for my girls!

 

I'll have to set an alarm.... I want absolutely everything! The boots, both hakama sets and the middle schooler uniform.... well, two pairs of the boots because I want to take cute twin photos with the hakama, haha.

Also, I took a group photo with all my girls now that they're all complete, and I am very proud of it so I want to share it here

 

Thank you for the congratulations! I managed to "fix" the head area alone by following the advice I got and pulling the plastic fastener down. However I found that the rubber ring was absolutely necessary for friction if not the head lolled around kind of sloppily XD Even though mine is broken I just left it there SIGH... I wonder if I can find an alternative to replace it ... but thank you for telling me what you know!

Also looking at the new outfit collection, I'm really tempted by the boots and taisho set (MSD/SD ver)

 

I love the victorian girl boots, the boy outfits(but why no MSD boy outfit uggggghhh), and that blue hakama outfit for girls. Meep!

 

I honestly suede the underside of my Gr girls heads with hot glue. It provides just enough friction to help the head hold position. The silicone piece (KIP) helps as well, but from personal experience I think the hot glue makes everything work better.

 

Does anyone know what time the collection will be released? I know the After Events often come out at 11:30am, but there isn't a time specified on any of the promotional material for this one..... maybe midnight?

Also, I know there are a couple of people who are looking for an F-73, so I just thought I'd let you guys know about this head on Yahoo! Japan at the moment You'll have to be quick though!
