Volks Super Dollfie - SD, SD13, SD16, SD17, SDGr, SDGou & FCS - XXI

Victorique is so adorable love the makeup and colors also. Lieselotte is quite stunning. I like the blond Suigintou with the pink lips. Quite a different look for her. That is a lot of dolls and all the people that enter are in person from what I understand. It must be quite a bit of excitement - till the results !

 

Sorry to pop in here with a question, but does anyone know if 16mm eyes will fit in a Luna or will that make gaps? I have a pair of smaller 18mm eyes in her right now that I think look lovely, but I'm considering giving those eyes to a different girl and I have some incoming 16mm eyes that I might give to my Luna if they will fit.

 

I didn't find any gaps with my 16mm Enchanted. It can work.

 

Well, I decided to bring Chiyo home as well, before she gets sold out. (Learned my lesson with Megu--I thought those original standards were going to be there forever!) Really glad I did. In person, she is adorable, with such a winsome look on her face! Her new name is Kasumi.



Chiyo is not as easy to photograph as Coco, but she's got personality. I'm torn as to whether to change out her eyes. The color is a very pretty grey, that picks up what she's wearing. Probably will change the angle of them at any rate. I like her default face-up, but I've seen some really nice custom ones when I was trawling Japanese pages looking for pictures of her before I bought her.

 

I just bought Chiyo's head a month ago on the market place and she is shipped out for a faceup :=) after also trawling Japanese pages and seeing the same interesting mold who turned out to be Chiyo over and over, I realized I must get her! She has smaller eye sockets in person than I expected - though I do like them. I like her longer face and her relaxed mouth. I'm going to be going for a darker look for her but still natural looking.

@TreeLore , thank you! I look forward to seeing your Chiyo when she gets her new face-up! I also started a Flickr group for Volks Chiyo (there were ones for Coco and Saki, but not Chiyo), so feel free to add her once you get some pictures!

 

Will do I just followed you on flickr. My girl is going to be a two month wait but when she does get home I will certainly add her.

 

My Chiyo was a FCS SD13, but I thought her face was so sweet and winsome as well! Congrats on getting her, I love mine quite a bit.

 

Yay for Chiyo love! She's my only SD-sized girl and I love seeing the Volks Chiyo one-offs and how others customise her. ^^

@BriarRose She is just too stunning! Her lashes are so long and gorgeous. Her make-up gives her such a shy expression. Lovely. She is a treasure!

 

@Reynardine She's lovely! Chiyo/Saki/Coco were such a lovely set of standards. I'm so glad I took the plunge on my F-59(Saki) last year and I know you'll be glad you got Chiyo! And I feel you on the missing out. So many sculpts that were standard that I took for granted until it was too late... Sigh.

Got my first doll of the year today - a totally cute F-35 girl from Y!Auctions. I'd been watching her for a while via Noppin when, shortly before Christmas, I suddenly kinda panicked and bought her instead of waiting to see if the seller would lower the price again. Well, was worth it. Totally. So much for the "no new dolls in 2018" resolution ... ;P

 

@Khell, pictures, please! is she a One-Off or an FCS?

 

I love F35 I have been resisting that mold for a long time! I can never decide if I would love the lower lip in person or not!

 

Here's Gracie - just a quick, pretty dark and slightly blurry pic I just snapped of her sitting next to me on my bed. She came without papers but with her original box and cushions (and that nice Volkes wrapping paper with the golden angel wings) and judging from her headplate she's an FCS that was ordered at Tensi no Sato (according to the headplate info on Neo Angel Den). I'm considering getting her a different wig in the same colour - the reddish-brown, not the blonde - and a similar style but for the moment she's perfect.

@TreeLore, it just depends on how the lips are painted. What I like about F35 are the elfy-shaped eyes. I ordered one from the Online FCS back in 2016; pardon the nudity but at least you can clearly see her features and faceup —

 

@beamlette - Your girl is so pretty, even nude and without a wig! And yes, I love the shape of the eyes, too. Also, how different F-35s can look depending on how they're painted. Is that a Volks face-up or did you send her to a FU artist to be painted?

I'd love to know who did the FU on mine ... Anyways, Gracie and Georgie (my Yu Morisawa) are already best friends and even sharing Georgie's doll.

@Leiothrix - Ah, true! *beaming* So that means the Youpla Vaéron I started layaway on in December doesn't count as being bought in 2018 either, right? Since I committed to buy in 2017 ...

My girl's face-up is by Volks. It was the one offered as a "girl" face-up. I usually prefer their "boy" face-ups for my girls, because the girl face-ups seem too sweet and passive to me, but this one struck me as a sassy little opinionated miss, so I ordered her IMO Volks has stepped up their face-ups; they may have been tired of people wiping their dolls' default face-ups and sending them off to other artists

 

@Khell -- Absolutely. You can even stretch it a little bit further and any doll purchased in January still counts as 2017, as you would have thought about buying it last year

Speaking of how dolls look together, I am trying to come up with a Volks sculpt that shares a family similarity with Elena/F-42. I don't suppose anyone in here might have an idea? So far, my best thought is F-54, and to a lesser extent a DWC 02.

 

Thanks, @TreeLore and @flowergirl! Georgie "borrowed" that had from Aidan, it's from the Volks Crystal Blue dress set. She indeed does look like a little Russian princess, doesn't she? I'm planning to commission a "Russian style" coat for her, to match the hat. And, of course, a little muff - so she can go all-out Russian winter princess.

@Chobittum Personally, I think DWC 02 looks quite close to Elena. Looking through my FCS book - maybe F-59? Or F-46 as younger sister/brother?

 

@Chobittum I always thought Kanata (F-47) looked like Elena's older brother, sculpt wise, and having just had a quick google, looks quite cute as a girl too!

@Khell Please post photos when you do have Georgie's russian coat in hand, I love a good coat I'm about halfway through making each of my girls their winter coat sets, but at this rate they won't be ready until next winter... ah well!

I just finished her face-up and she's wearing a cute artist made outfit I bought in Japan at the Volks Store. I'll be figuring out her character and making her more stuff in the new year. For now, I'm letting her just be a bunny-girl.

Isenn, I love your Jo's face up so much! The smokey eye is very unique. most Jo/Lorina I've seen are too sweet for my personal taste (they're still very cute, though!) but yours stand out! I love the androgynous look

I'm a little late but after seeing the F-35 discussion I wanted to post mine!



She's WS from the Japanese FCS. She was my first ever Volks doll and I love her so much.

This might just be a problem for me but last night/this morning I tried to order a Nico (ack she's just so cute) from the Volks USA store and first on my phone it wouldn't bring be to the paypal payment screen so I tried again later on my computer and from paypal it said that I couldn't use it for the transaction then when I tried entering my credit card directly on the site it declined. Has anyone else had problems with the Volks USA site? Like I said maybe they have some issue with my card or something... Edit: I just wanted to update to say I just bought her from the international site instead and had no issue!

 

@maclou I had trouble purchasing from VolksUSA one time and finally just ended up calling them. I was trying to pay using PayPal balance and they (PayPal) locked down the transaction "for review" and held my funds for almost a week before declining the transaction (with no reason or explanation when I called PayPal and asked). In the end I had to call VolksUSA and give them the card number directly. VolksUSA was very nice during the whole stressful ordeal.

 

I’ve also had trouble buying from Volks USA. The web page kept declining my card even after I called my credit card company who said my card was fine. In my case, entering the card into PayPal was what worked for me. Their cart must have issues.

 

I've had the same problem with Paypal "review" and Volks USA. The transaction was cancelled (by Paypal) and I ended up having to do it over. I talked with Volks on the phone about it, they were very understanding. I've used Paypal for many years and never had something like that happen before.

 

Though, judging from my own experience, your chances of it also remaining one are much, much better when you stay away from Mandarake ... got the majority of my Volks there ... they do have such great deals ...

@Khell Yeah, I wish I had never discovered Mandarake, or Dollyteria... *eyes the overflowing doll cabinet*

 

@flowergirl To think I still might be able to actually use my couch if it weren't for Mandarake ... *sigh*

 

I'll do my best to stay away from Mandarake . . . haha (says the girl with Mandarake as her second browser tab right now). But seriously - there's no room left around here for more SD + dolls! I'll have to put it off until I purchase another acrylic display in the future (who knows where I'll be able to put that either - my bedroom's close to full capacity). Otherwise they will be sleeping in bed with me!
