Volks Super Dollfie - SD, SD13, SD16, SD17, SDGr, SDGou & FCS - XVI

Ah yes the Classic Cinderella doll from the classic Disney cartoon movie, that has got to be one of my fave's since I was little. Volks doing a collaboration with Disney Japan is great, but the USA Disney would not do a doll like this, but they have their own 17 inch version of dolls that are way less for your wallet if you want them.

Ahh, he's devastating! He looks all fresh and dewy-eyed.

And the whole purpose of Ryoya's earring is to get lost. Reika lost his in the woods somewhere. I was annoyed, on fullset-completion principle; but I could tell Reika was looking for an excuse to ditch the fake-diamond stud & replace it with a nice silver ring. ^^

 

See, you're smarter'n me and took that earring right out before it could get lost. Perhaps I subconsciously wanted the stupid thing gone too. C'mon, it's a chunk of cubic zirconia that takes up half his ear.

 

I bet Cherose likes it too, he is amazing on it!!

orangediscord, your Pearl has so much attitude!! She looks like the kind of girl who has a smart-alecky reply to everything.

Well, I entered the lottery because...well...lottery.

I just moved so I'm in the process of unpacking my dollies this weekend so I can tinker with them. I bought an SD16! Never thought I would do that. I'm kinda staring at this huge girl wondering what I'm going to do with so much doll!

orangediscord - She's a Megu. I just pulled her out for a few quick shots. She doesn't have her own eyes or clothes yet so she's wearing some loose fabric and my Masha's eyes. My big plan is to use this body for my Toyha and make him a girl! Long dream of mine.

For now she is as you see. I'm not sure who did this face up but they have mad skills even if it's not exactly my taste. Props to the artist.




** Edit @orangediscord - After I posted this I realized you asked about the lottery not who my SD16 was. Oooops. I entered for a Michele Also, I really love the roguish look in your Pearl's eyes.

 

Don't you hate it when you're to busy for days so you can't come to the forums and when you do there are so many beautiful pictures and you don't even know where to start commenting on them?

Isenn - sd16 girls are a lot of doll but I love that body, it's such a pleasure to pose.

I wish I was able to enter for the one off Luna, she's lovely! A part of me is like oh enter anyway you always lose so what is the harm in it? But I must resist since I'm still working on putting together incoming Tsukasa.

Also tried out a new look for Severine today

 

KIM - You taunt me with your Liz. I still just love love this girl. I really like the face up on Severine too. Liz molds always look sort of serious to me and your girl seems to be waiting for something. I love her.

 

@Kim, WOW -- Severine is a stunner to begin with, but that wig is jaw-dropping on her!

Also, huge congrats on the incoming Tsukasa!! Might he be the almost-fullset one who's been languishing on *cough*Bay? I couldn't believe he wasn't getting snapped up.

 

Placed my order for Volks SD17 Kiriko starting on first day for ordering on 1st Oct from Volks official sites, he will back to home on late Dec Yay!! So Exciting !!! ~~~

 

Isenn - awww thank you so much. Severine definitely turned out way better than I had ever hoped when I told the faceup artist I wanted her to look solemn and sullen. Your Megu is a stunner too, though I wonder how she'd look on the boy body your Tohya is going to giving up.

Cynthia - thank you! I know she's going to always have pale hair and be my bleached out little New Wave romantic so I thought I would try this wig. I like the cut for her face. And nooo there's a poor Tsukasa on ebay? Mine's not that one and now I want to rescue him.

 

@Isenn Oh wow! Your Megu looks stunning! Somehow I don't see much of this sculpt around, she's really an amazing girl! Probably my favourite of the SD16's!

On another note, when does Volks usually release info on any limited/new releases for Tokyo Dolpas? Its November and I'm getting antsy

Gosh, how heavy Volks boys seems after vinyl dolls!

 

I've been gone from the scene for quite a long time! Can anyone tell me how rare SD16 Megu is and how much her head is going for lately?

 

@usagi665 I've seen a few SD16 Megu heads in the MP relatively recently around the $500 range I think. They aren't super common but not extremely rare either, although there doesn't seem to be any in the MP currently.
There's one on Mandarake now at around the $530 mark.

 

@Chibi_Rat Good to know, thank you! Any rumors if they might re-release her or another identical sister? Edit: Might you also send me the link? Finding the site much harder to navigate than I remember, can't find any dolls listed.

I heard a rumor a while back that VOLKS was not going to release an SD16 Nana or SD16 Sara, they might change their minds someday though. No news of SD16 Megu or Kira getting a re-release any time soon (except as random one-offs).
Hopefully one day they'll release all the Four-sisters (or is it Five-sisters now because of Una) as SD16!

 

Sadly Tenshi no Mado is not opening the day I am in Tokyo, so I am eyeing on Doll Point Akihabara.
Does anyone know if FCS is available there?
I saw it is listed in Tenshi no Sumika :/
Tried to email Volks to ask but they didn't reply.

 

@tiyama Yep, I've been there many times and they do have FCS available there. However, you do need a Japanese address to order FCS (a long term one, not your hotel address for vacation...)

 

@usagi665 I also agree with Chibi_Rat regarding the SD16 Megu situation. I myself have been on the hunt for an SD16 Megu for quite a few months, and just scored myself a perfect fullset off the MP from a very lovely member. I can't speak for the availability of heads as I only ever look for full dolls, but I'd say she's rare enough that once you see her you need to scoop her up right away. She doesn't seem to come up for sale very often at all.

 

This has been confusing me for quite a while, and I better ask now than later I do not understand why some people call the Four Sisters sculpt a specific name like Megu, Nana, Sara etc. Why the specific one they choose to call them with? In your reply you specifically said SD16 Nana and Sara, but aren't they the same sculpt as Megu anyway? Is it what she's called on the release or is there some kind of specific fullset referred to it that people identify? This isn't only with SD16, but I've noticed a lot of people do that with the YoSDs and SDs as well.
On the same note, is Una the same exact sculpt or does she have any slight changes? Is she supposed to be the super limited one out of them all?

 

Una is basically the same sculpt as
Megu/Sara/Nana but in WS :-)

 

I actually was confused about the Four Sisters sculpt as well. I know I mostly refer to them by name to keep track of what Volks release them as in terms of date and age. Like even though SD16 Megu and Kira are the same sculpt, they come with different faceups and different outfits, just as an SD16 Kira would be an older doll than an SD16 Megu. It just helps me keep the different releases straight in my head.

Also as far as I'm aware, though I have seen someone say otherwise, Una is exactly the same as the Four Sister's sculpt but in WS and only released through Tenshi no Sato events or the like.

 

That makes more sense Thanks! So that means an Una refers to a Four Sisters in White skin! I never thought of relating the skin with the name :P

 

They are all the same sculpt, but their default wigs, eyes, and faceups are all different and specific to the particular character. Hence, a Megu will always come with the classic black hime cut wig, Sara will always have the pale blonde wig, Kira has the brown wig with the yellow ribbon, and Nana has the plain brown wig. So even though it's the same sculpt, if someone knows which fullset their doll was, they will generally refer to them by the character name. Some people even have preferences for one sister over the other.

 

Well, there WAS one -- but I can't find him now, so either he sold after all or the seller took the listing down. I had to remind myself forcibly that there are two Tsukasas here, one default and one one-off with an artist faceup, and I DO NOT NEED THREE.

 

yes I got totally confused over the 'four sisters' sculpt when I was frantically researching volks for the first time the other week, whilst trying to decide whether or not to buy my girl from ebay - I did so many photo searches and they all looked totally different, yet I read they were all the same mold Amazing what a faceup can do it seems! To add to the confusion my 'sister' has had her lips modded - apparently this was to make her look more like nana? But if it's just the faceup then.... ?? *still confused* Meanwhile I found a 'nightie' in the dress-up box, for my girl Felicity to wear - after a week or so of having her sat naked just because she has such a pretty body (sd-10) I didn't want to cover it up! I'm not the most creative photographer (understatement of the century LOL) so I just took the obvious shot - she's so pretty though I can't get over it! I love the idea that she's always in a lovely dream too - far away from harsh reality

As a few other people have already stated, there is no difference between the Four-sisters (Megu, Nana, Kira, and Sara) and Una. The only differences between Megu, Nana, Kira, and Sara are their default wigs, eyes and face-ups. Una is the same mold but she is BW. They are all the same basic F-01 head sculpt. The same goes for the YoSD, SD13, and SD16 variations of the Four-sisters sculpt.
I do remember reading somewhere a while back about the original (oldskin) Four-sisters sculpts being slightly different from one another but I'm not sure if that is really true or not.

@Kim Severine looks great in that short wig, I love the way it frames her eyes. Her face-up is also really unique and cool.

@elve Felicity is so cute! Her nightie is really pretty, it reminds me of the Liz Spring Stroll white dress.

Yea Una is the same mold, it's just whenever a sculpt is made in whiteskin, it looks completely different almost. The resin is so bright that it eliminates any depth the face might have and really changes the features. People also sought over Una because she has the rare jointless SDGr torso, and a very nice faceup that people LOVE. I almost got her even though I'm not a fan of the F-01. The SD16 version isn't too hard to find. I have a feeling she's going to be a FCS mold soon, since it makes sense. I just do not like the way they sculpted her nose The bridge is super skinny, and the bottom bulb is huge. Way back when, I was actually hoping Amethyst was going to look more along the lines of Madoka, Daria, and Megu, since their look is kind of rare for that line.

I like Ryoma, but that guy already showing his character. I fought for 15 minutes with him yesterday, trying to put my dollfie's wig on Ryoma to be sure about his head size. And what do u think? It just didnt work. Doesnt matter how I tried to do it, he seemed not agreeing to have pink braided wig on him. Ended up with me, being super frustrated, and Ryo, sitting in the dark wardrobe's corner for 5 minutes, as a punishment

LOL If they refuse even I successfully put a wig on, they still 'manage' to make it off :P Speaking of the bad weather, it's going to be cloudy and rainy here for the whole week :/ My weekend photo plan

 

@timaya same here I wanted to take a couple of girls out to take pix of, but... May be in a week, when its gonna be sunny, but cold. Ryo will stay in for a week or so, I need to re-string him. Not sure I will succeed myself, have to wait for BF to come back from work trip.

Thank you!)) This is my very first Volks boy, and I am super happy with him I think, the only two boys I was same happy with, were Limhwa's Mano (boy, wasnt it like a decade ago?)) and my original Saint from Tensiya.
I know you have quite a Volks family, and I think its super cool)

Yeah, he still seems to be sarcastic about that pink thing. I already warned Ryo, one more weird look of his spendy Volks glass eyes at me, and he goes back to the wardrobe, or even worse, - to the shelf filled with naughty AP gals

 

It's also worth mentioning that only the 'Sweet Dream Una' came with the one piece SDGr origin torso- the other 'normal' Una has a joint one like any other SDGr. She is probably my favorite four sister doll although I do love Megu too.

I need to stop being lazy and take more pictures of her!

 

And to round out the Four Sisters discussion, Volks did deviate when it came to the Sweet Dream releases. Sweet Dream Nana and Sweet Dream Kira are two different sculpts.

 

Way way long ago, when Kira was released for the 10th year anniversary, I remember being very very in love with her every time I looked at her pictures on the old Volks website. Now I know who's the girl with the little yellow bow

I loved the Sweet Dream Nana that looked Grumpy. I always wanted her but never could found one when I had money.

 

Hey thank you! I can take about 0 credit for her loveliness but I do enjoy her and am glad I was able to pick her up when I did. I am sure she'll be around like all Volks items and eventually they'll make her available to everyone at some point in the distant, cold future.

If there's one thing people love more than having the funds to acquire their dolls- it's talking about them and the minutiae of different releases is no exception!

 

Since we are pretty much on the topic of the four sisters sculpt, here are my twins!
Ria and Rei~ Ria is a YumeTenshi SwD Una and Rei is a SwD Nana :-)
