[Adopted] Volks Super Dollfie - SD, SD13, SD16, SD17, SDGr, SDGou & FCS - XI

Well went to the Volks store today and did my FCS. I'm quite happy and excited for him. Also got to see the new SD Gou Yukino there. My gawd is he gorgeous. I almost caved for him too. Also for those who are curious he does have a goatee in his faceup

I orginally purchased Mark from VolksUSA for the body I sent the face off for custom makeup thinking it would help me sell it but when it returned I couldn't see her as anything but a lady with a quiet building intensity.

First time posting here, my Ryoya wants to greet all the handsome guys & lovely ladies here~~
His name is Gabriel or Gabb for short, after my favorite archangel~~

Ohh my he is wonderful, Vienni! Ryoya is a perfect face for an archangel-- powerful yet delicate. Gabriel is gorgeous in his strawberry hair and intense eyes. I don't know what it is, his faceup or his coloring, but seems to look more Asian than my own Ryoya does. It could be his eyeshadow. It's beautiful. Who did his faceup?

Gabb and Noel remind me that I haven't taken any new photos of my own Ryoya in many many moons... will an older photo of Reika be OK?

 

Reika looks awesome as always, Jenny. :3 This is proof that Ryoya can have many faces... xD And welcome, Gabriel... Someday we must let the twins meet, Vienni!!!

 

Whelp...I caved and sent Fig off for a face-up.
I felt bad...I was gonna keep him without but everyone else has one...

 

Goodness I love how even the same sculpts can look so different by how they're styled! Lovely Ryoya's Vienni & JennyNemesis. I don't even think I've even seen owner pics of him before.

Aeneas ~ I got an F-30! He's the first doll I've wanted or chosen when I first started this hobby in '07, but I decided to wait on him until I became a real working adult lol. Sort of wanted to wait a little longer, but with the showroom closing those plans got pushed up. He's now the last in my list of dream dolls and collection too unless I stumble upon a Volks Eden someday...

Yay! She looks adorable. I love the blue and orange together. I'm a huge fan of self-made clothes. I really think it connects the doll and owner together and shows off a unique style.

 

Congrats on the FCS, lildemon! The Volks store can be so temptingly evil because you see things that you maybe never took interest before but suddenly when they are in front of you, you want it! That happened to me last year when I visited and walked out with an SDGr Belle! Was Volks pretty busy when you went?

Ack you're Genji is gorgeous! I haven't seen a Genji around in quite a while. I went right when they opened so I was the only FCS at least for the early noon time. There were a bit of other customers around, but they were interested in the DDs. It was definitely tempting when I saw Yukinojo and asked about him since I thought he was sold out. Apparently they still have a few left for sale, but for in the store only.

Theophilia looks absolutely fabulous, as always, prince_of_the_netherworld! I am a huge fan of her and her cuteness~~~

I'm afraid if I ever went near someone placing an FCS order, I'd end up doing the same. I try to stay away from the temptation, but I think we can all see that it isn't working when it comes to pretty BJDs.

 

Ohh more Ryoyas! I must tumble into a joy-spiral now. Those electric-blue eyes are so stunning, eleniel! He's a knockout. The long wild hair complements/contrasts with the clean chiseled intensity of his face.

@pris84, yay, I'm happy that Mr. Nameless Hottie Genji has a name! He looks like a Takehiko. I also crave that pullover he's wearing-- I'd like one in SD17 size, one in SD13 size, and one in a Ladies' 10-Long, thankyavurrymuch....

 

Thanks! It's from Freedom Teller. I love their stuff. If I had the cash, Sadol, DollHeart, Volks and Freedom Teller would be all my boys would wear... alas, I must make myself buy some basics from cheaper places.

Wow, blonde Minoru! I like him as a blonde. It lightens him up a bit. Minoru seems such a severe sculpt. A tad uptight. ^^
But, wow, that uptightness of bone-structure sure makes him look GREAT in uniforms!! O Captain, my Captain, rrrowr.

 

Welcome back, Izam... What a handsome Minoru there. Eleniel, your Ryoya is different, but still gorgeous. I love Ryoya's prominent cheek bones. And that is probably why I must have that Hajime...

Late to the party, usual.... but here's the one decent pic I have of Cassian, my Ryoya. (Whose brother, Cammeron, is a Minoru. XD)

 

: Cassian looks so soft and gentle and soulful! He's got such big eyes... It's amazing the difference that eyes + hair + clothes can make on a doll.

 

Quick question about SD16 and SD13 girls and Nine9Style sizing - if I bought an SD16 size dress is it likely to be too small for an SD13? The dress I want is sold out in SD13 size but they have some left in SD16 :'( I don't want to buy something that won't fit, but if there's a chance I don't want to pass the dress up.

 

Depends on the dress. If it's something made to fit tightly in the waist, it may be too small there for SD13. It will also likely be bigger in the bust unless it is stretchy.

I have the "Denim Roll-Up One Piece" in SD16 size, and my SDGr girl can wear it fine. It looks baggy so I usually pin it in back or cinch it with a belt.

 

Ok. I read before Christmas that Volks was discontinuing all their current standard dolls. I have been patiently waiting to see what they out out in terms of new standard dolls, but nothing/no news yet. All of the Standard releases are still available on the Volks Japan website.
I'm dying here! Anybody got any inside info? I want a Megu but I thought I would wait until the new ones came out but it seems like its never going to happen!

 

they haven't said what they will do after all the standard dolls are gone.

 

Volks has up to three or more events a year in general, and we are only on our first one if the year coming up, so if I were you Jelly139, I would keep saving my money until the new website opens, because more than likely whatever they have planned for America, it will also be a special event. Of course, unless they offer a simple choice system like people have been discussing, Megu may not be regularly available, so you may want to consider that too. It's always a hard decision to make on dolls, but I trust that whatever Volks has in store will be a great addition to their services here.

 

I'm so happy my Hijiata finally has his body now! I finally have my first SD17 boy. I hope to post pics of him soon. He needs clothes and his own wig now.

Oh I love both of your girls- they look so cool and collected. They're just hanging out chilling with their dragon which btw- I ADORE cinder. I have been watching those little companion dragons for some time now~!


Izam- I adore your Minoru. I wish I had 1/8th of your vision for that sculpt. He's absolutely stunning.

Brightfires- I've never seen as romantic a Ryoya as Cassian. He's absolutely beautiful. I am loving all the SDGr/SD17 boys showing up in the thread! What a treat.


Here's my F-32 Madoka who sadly may be my last FCS if the service isn't continued in some form. It's a shame because she has such a special place in my heart and I really love her sweet face. She walks the line between classic & anime proportions in a resin doll which is what I dig about her.

Izam and fransyung- thank you! She's not a super EXCITING doll to own but she was absolutely the dream of what I wanted when I first entered the hobby. I am getting more excited now about expanding my collection to boys and getting up my courage to start creating my own characters from LEs. I just really admire everything folks here on the forum evolve from dolls that I wouldn't have expected to be so versatile. It really is a skill and I love seeing what people create~

Yes, the F-32 does look like character Chii and really looks like the Volks Chii- dunno which came about first. (?) You know, I love CLAMP's art but am kind of 'meh' on the Chobits storyline/characters so she doesn't cosplay Chii so much.

'Attack on Titan' characters would be amazing but that is another post for another, different forum...

Soooo? FCS will still be offered at some point in the future though the details are being worked out? That's the most hopeful I've felt about things in a long time. Or did I read that whole thing incorrectly?

 

Nakitaninja, your Madoka is adorable! She looks so lovely with that soft faceup, and the lashes are fantastic. I used to be ambivalent about the more anime-styled SD sculpts, but they've really been growing on me lately.
And it's not just you- that blurb sounds super positive to me, too! US-based owners, don't lose hope!

Visiting Volks today was super fun, so many people and their dolls turned out for the anniversary photo. I managed to snag the Sumika Fair wig I've been lusting after for years- going to try to put up a photo of that when I get home.

The new staff are all incredibly friendly, and the new manager is so nice! Talking to them really gave me a lot of confidence about the future of Volks in LA. They're definitely maintaining the high standard of quality and service we've come to expect from Volks. The final weekend's going to be bittersweet, but I'm sure they'll still make it a great experience.

And make sure to put your tea party applications in, everybody! They're only open for two more weeks!

 

Oh geez, this is gonna be bad, we are all gonna be broke as a joke with an online FCS...ugh I can't wait and also never want it to come >,<; guess the future if my F-01 boy and as many MSDs as I can get my hands on is looking brighter...maybe they'll even do an introduction event and release more sculpts when they do actually decide on a system!

Soooo...I have REALLY been giving it a lot of thought AND, well...I am now on the hunt for a Black Cat Chris. I wanted the right sculpt to compliment the F-16 and I think he'll be it.

Is it bad that I wanna get rid of the face-up and change it though?! I feel bad, like if I do get one...I shouldn't change it...

I wouldn't feel bad about changing the faceup at all. Lately they've been getting better, but older Volks faceups can be pretty "meh."

I don't think there's a Black Cat Chris, though? There's White Cat Chris/Black Cat Lucas. Same headmold, different skin tone.

 

Lucas/Chris are simply love! Lucas is in normal skin and Chris is in white skin. I am rewinding my collection and got myself a black cat Lucas head (blank) and an old f28 boy (old skin) from Dollyteria . Old loves are good

The f28 is on the way to me I am tempted to get a FCS F16 in the near future too.

Ryoya is surely my most favorite mold from Volks.

Arrgh, he's even more exquisite with a hat on. That explains a few things about his wonderfulness-- he has a Gabriel faceup in Gackt style. I love love love him in a hat.

 

An online FCS would be amazing. Even though I never plan to do an FCS myself, there are some eyes I've been lusting after for a while now, and if they did do online FCS's that'd open up so many more possibilities for splits.

 

If they're doing an online FCS for US maybe they could introduce it to the European hobbyists as well... *3* Living here in Finland is a total bummer, there's no dolly shops around.

 

Oh, Mado says 'thank you !' and also thank you for the update on the shop too! I love hearing about people's visits to the sumikas and seeing the pictures. It's always tough if you don't live nearby so I have to live (happily) vicariously through your experience.

Online FCS would be amazing but their comments may also mean that Volks may attend/have a (bi)yearly or so event and take FCS orders there instead? I mean, I would LOVE online FCS but since they are not saying that specifically... maybe it's something else? Either way it doesn't really matter: FCS will not be going away forever and that's a win in my book! I really want an F-26 someday~

I would agree on the Meh. God love Volks photos. I see some owner pics and get confused cause it looks nothing like the Volks pics.

@Kals...F-16 is, obviously, my fist but I soooo of love his sculpt.
I have him in white so I think the normal would be a nice contrast.
I'm surprised about their current cost...I could have sworn they cost more when they came out??
lol I used to love the outfit when they first came out...how tastes change.

Lol thanks nakitaninja. The F-32 you have is also on my wishlist because I really like Volks Chii too, maybe I get them both some day. (Expensive dream that is) My MSD F-12's need some relatives who have big eyes...

 

Online FCS would be a dream come true for everyone, since unless I win the lottery doing one in person is impossible for me and getting the time off from work is hard too for me.

 

krissi, if it's a very stretchy 8-9 wig it could fit. My School A wears a 9-10 Crobi wig and it's even kinda snug.
