Volks SD Owners Tokyo Cruise, July 19th

May 15, 2008

    1. I love how Volks gives their characters such dramatic and deep intertwining storylines. Too bad its beyond impossible for me to be able to ever afford him. :)

    2. Thank you cammy for telling me about the story :D

I always thought that Elizabeth had died or gone missing (and then would re-appear as some awesome pirate) , and thats why Cecile and her never were together.

But my understanding is way off, thanks for the clarification ^^

    3. No problem! :thumbup

I think Cecile falls in love easily. :) He was in love with Cyndy too! ;)

Besides the fact that she is Williams sister, and that Cecile was in love with her, not much is known about Elizabeth. :daisy So you might just be right! :thumbup

    4. On the Volks Cruises can attendees buy only one doll? I seriously want to pay someone to pick one of these up for me. Aiyeee :D

    5. You are welcome, Anavel, PurgatoriX :D

Muffin - Yes, only 1 doll is available. We cannot get 2 or more. And only VIP or VS members who won the lottery can buy him. Most participants have to pay a hotel bill and train/plane tickets and stay in Tokyo from the day before. In addition, the entrance fee to Cruise is expensive, too.

But this cruise seems to have much capacity (seats). A lot of Reisner will be sold at auction.

    6. The expenses you will incur while attending one of these events to obtain a doll is a lot.

It is not surprising that the after-market value for one of these LE is so high.

I guess there is goes all of my BJD funds if I do happen to win one :sweat:sweat:sweat Now, it is all at God's hands..... well, at least I have two more months to save :|

I sure hope that there will be enough of him to go around.

    7. Yup. :...(
When I bought Scar Face Cecile 1st (for 1st Tokyo Cruise), I had to pay over $2500 for him. It was a big damage for me and I had been :shudder and :doh whenever I saw my bank book.

    8. Will anyone be going? .. I mean the member on DOA

    9. D:! Oh man I want him, I'm doomed D:

    10. I keep telling my self I don't want him...

      so far it's not working....

      :#

    11. It's a lottery -- no one knows yet who's going. I wish I could enter, but I already made plans for that weekend.... :...(

    12. Damn, I knew that's how it would be! xD I was hoping they might be kind and allow two~ Hopefully there will be many of him offered though, so we can all look forward to a good wallet-raping on Y!J. :sweat :sweat

    13. Does anyone know where the ship will actually be leaving from, or at least which suburb of Tokyo?

God help me, I'm actually contemplating forking over a month's pay to go on this thing... *_*

    14. I was just thinking. Volks may have missed something.

If Reisner really wanted to be like Cecile, beside the scar on the right eye, the body also needs to have a scar on the right arm :sweat:sweat

I wonder if they made something special for that arm under that awesome black outfit. If they did, it would be super cool.:D:D

    15. Since they're showing Rainbow Bridge in the pictures and the cruise is only about 2 1/2 hours I'm thinking it probably leaves from one of the dock areas not far from Shimbashi/Tsukiji/Hamamatsucho. I think the boat looks a little large to be starting up as far as Ueno. (This is just conjecture, I don't have my advert and my Japanese skills are lacking)

If you timed your trains to arrive in Tokyo around 5ish/6ish you could leave your things in a locker at the station, go on the cruise and still make it back to Tokyo station to retrieve them and go to a hotel of some sort. If you were staying in the Ueno/Kanda/Shimbashi/Hamamatsuho area you're likely to be staying not so far from where it starts/ends. Unless in starts in Odaiba, but I don't think a lot of boats leave from there other than the ferry back to Shimbashi/Tsukiji

Shinjuku/Ikebukuro/Shibuya/Harajuku are the opposite side of Tokyo and not a good choice for places to stay.

Depending on what you want to spend for the one night you'd need to stay there, I've stayed at a few decent business class hotels in that area. :D

    16. Thanks for the info, rkold! I don't know Tokyo at all. Considering how much it's going to cost just to get there, I think the relatively cheaper end of the hotel scale would be ideal...

Did the math last night, I think I will put the form in and let the Volks lottery decide if it's meant to be. :sweat

    17. Oh, he is perfect. I will have to stalk Y!J after this event is over to see if any pop up. My credit card will be most displeased with me, I am thinking. :sweat

    18. Oh wow, I just love his outfit! I may have to consider getting that in the future, if I can find one.....

    19. The more I look at him, the more I can't resist.... I am seriously considering jumping on a plane and fly there for one...

I looked at the site again and noticed this "イベントご参加者様お届け100%保証" ... it seems like you are guaranteed a doll if you are willing to let your wallet get raped? I don't know... I might have misunderstood it.

    20. I think because you have to be a VS or VIP member only they make sure that those that have their applications for the event approved are guaranteed a chance at Reisner.

    21. According to the website, the cruise sets off from Hamamatsucho. http://www.volks.co.jp/jp/event/cruise_tokyo08/index.html

Just 40 minutes from my station! It's so tempting... I love Reisner, even though I'm not really crazy about the Scarface. And Captain Cecil's white dress set is incredible!

I think I'll just enter the lottery for tickets, and if I do get to go on the cruise, take it as fate that I should buy Scarface Reisner. That way, I can take some of the responsibility off of myself. :)

    22. Is it Hamamastucho or Hinode? The site lists both places, and Hinode station looks much closer to the water (at least on Google Maps :sweat).

Good luck with the lottery! I've decided to put in for it as well - if it's meant to be, then it'll happen. In the meantime, I'm keeping every spare appendage crossed! :eusa_pray

    23. the more I look at him the more I am needing him...:love

    24. I`m hoping to win a seat for this X_X

I heard that those who will sell Reisner online aren`t going to sell him for less than 400000yen D:

      Which means I need to get him now or never ;_;

    25. 400000yen, yes.. that's what I expected actually.. and that's also what my hopes destroyed. Wellwell... maybe there will be a reasonable offer for this boy, but I just doubt it.
Somehow I think it's strange that some people buy those rare dolls only to sell them for tremendous sums in auctions.. and yet this gives other people the small chance to aquire such a doll.

But, seriously a normal Reisner would be nice, too. xD ..and would cost about the half or so.

    26. Yeah. Its kinda depressing that people go to the events JUST to buy the dolls and then immediately put it up for sale 2-3x the actual price. But eh. Thats how it goes.

I would die to go on the cruise! Being on a boat with nothing but food and dolls sounds kinda amazing. :P

    27. WTF that's not fair :( I'm not gonna pop 4000$ that's more than 2500 euro's!! Custom charges not included =_=..........and custom charges over 4000$ that's gonna be around the 680 euro that's a 1000$ O_O.

But seriously I won't pay that not ever! 3000$ that's the max and a 4000$ minimum that's ridiculous.

People who do that don't love the hobby they just wanna make profit and I don't understand why Volks wants such people to attend their events.

If this is true I'm seriously disappointed.

    28. Ah, I know how you feel... the customs alone are always so high!! Volks should come to Europe.

But I don't think they want such people to be there, they just can't help it.

    29. Eh, good point, Pithetaphish. I was kinda thinking/hoping the cruise sets off from Hamamatsucho, because I'm fairly familiar with that area, so I could get around there more easily. But my reading ability isn't so good :doh Can someone confirm what port we would be using? It seems to me that the site doesn't exactly specify, it just mentions Tokyo Bay, Hamamatsucho, and Hinode?

    30. Hamamatsucho is the general neighborhood and Hinode pier is prob the actual location within Hamamatsucho.

It's about a 15 min walk from JR Hamamatsucho station. From the North exit just walk in the opposite direction of Tokyo Tower down the main street until you come to the water's edge and then just walk south until you get there.

From the South exit you just keep going and once back on street level eventually keep heading to the left until you get to the water's edge. :D

Depending on where you are, you can also just catch the Yurikamome line at Shimbashi where it starts and go direct to Hinode.

hmmmm EDIT, looking at my map, I think the actual pier is between Hinode and Takeshiba station (the station you get to if you walk from JR Hamamatsucho Station), so prob the easiest way to get there is either the Yurikamome to Takeshiba and walk towards Hinode or using the north exit of JR Hamamatsucho. Just make sure you use the North exit. The South shoots you out pretty far South and backtracking can be a pain.

      Good luck!

    31. I myself am not for the cruise portion of the event as I am Ichthyophobic, and then the rumors of previous ones in which men eat all the stuff is a turn-off.

People who sell dolls at the insane price instantly do it as a business, not hobby -and because there`s a demand, they`re not going to disappear. My friend had been approached by one once in the Showrooms before, and they seem to not be afraid to say out loud they`re Resalers even in the Volks store because they`re a " Legal Business". (This is how we learned how much those sellers are going to sell Reisner for -disappointing I know)

Volks doesn`t want those people to attend events -but they`re also not fully prepared to figure out who the person is either, as there really isin`t a way to figure that out.

As a sidenote, Volks is doing open-eye customization for those who purchase both Reisner and the Blind eye, but the eye is to be open "slightly" and not full blown open like the left eye is. I wonder how that`s going to look...

    32. Wow, he's gorgeous. O_O
I love the outfit and the sword also!! >.<
I'm not a huge fan of Reisner, but this one is just stunning!

I'm going to Tokyo in July, I really hope I can go to this event. T-T Do a lot of foreigners attend? o.o' (sorry for the stupid question ._.)
I hope I have money and opportunity to entry the lottery... >>'

    33. Hmm I understand but Volks can try not to make the dolls so hard to get for foreign fans.
Since they know how popular Reisner is already. Or at least do a US or European Cruise of some sort to even out the chances.

Either way in the old days Japanese sellers used to help us get Volks dolls because they respected the hobby and the love for the hobby by foreign fans.
And now a lot of them don't care anymore they are just as ill mannered as the other profit seeking leeches from the rest of the world.
As if those people weren't enough XD!

The stupid thing is if the doll is sold on an auction site and someone is willing to pay 4000$ than it's oke with me. But setting a minimum starting from 4000$ is just unfair.

But we'll see what happens I hope I'll be lucky or my Redrum outfit is gonna go to waste :(!

By the way the eye opening is the same service they offered for the Scarface Cecil. It's really a very slight opening.

Yah XD I hope someday Volks will come to Europe lock & loaded with limited Dollies!!

    34. The cruise is not open admission like a Dolpa ^^;; You can't just show up.

      Admission to the cruise is based on a lottery for VS/VIP members. To be a Volks VS/VIP member at the moment you need to live in Japan. ^^;;

Because there are only a limited number of foreigners in Japan to start with and then an even smaller # that are into dolls, there are usually very few foreigners at these events. I am pretty sure when I went to the Tenshi no Sato event in March 2007 and October 2007 I was the only foreigner there the days I attended. Even at something like a Dolpa the number of foreigners vs Japanese attendees is small.

If you will actually be in Japan when the cruise is being held, I would highly recommend writing to Volks and telling them how much you want to be a part of this cruise and if there are any dispensations for foreign fans. ^^ I'm pretty sure there is a charge for the cruise itself (not just the items for sale) so please be aware of that. I know to attend the Huis ten Bosch event, it's a rather hefty amount.

    35. Oh, I see... ^^'
Thank you very much for the answer! And sorry, I'm such a noob! >.<"
I'll send Volks an e-mail and ask them about it. ^^~
      Thanks again. :3

    36. According to Cassiel's report from the Volks Cruise she went on in 2005, she went to Hinode station and there were Volks' staff at the station with big signs pointing which way to go. I imagine they'll do something similar again this year.

And while I hope I'm wrong, I doubt Volks will be giving any free passes away for this particular event - the Japanese fans would cry blue murder if they did.

    37. I doubt they'd give a free pass as well, but perhaps they would be willing to enter her name in the lottery.

Personally, I would just walk it from JR Hamamatsucho unless it was horrible weather or I was staying someplace where it would be just as convenient to get to Shimbashi station. I like walking.

It's really not a far walk and the Yurikamome line is rather expensive. It's certainly not worth it to take it the single stop between Takeshiba and Hinode as the pier itself is part way between the two and the distance between the stations is only about 500 meters going by the Tokyo City Bilingual Atlas.

    38. Well, I'm gonna try! The cruise itself isn't too expensive, around $150 for 1 person & $170 for 2. What gets you is the travel to & from Tokyo, including hotel for a night, unless you live in Tokyo, that is. So I'm saving up now, just in case I get lucky :)

    39. Good luck and I hope you will have fun cruising with Volks and winning some awesome prices :clover:clover:clover

    40. Hot and also hard to get, I really hate Volks now.

    41. I'm gonna be so jealous of who ever gets to go on the cruise and wins Reisner. *_*

    42. Does anyone know when we actually find out if we've landed a spot or not? (All my info on the cruise is currently sitting on my desk at work :sweat)

    43. Well, I gather since the deadline for entry is June 6th, they'll probably contact the lucky ones shortly after, but exactly when I don't know...

    44. It says on the form late June, and that you pay at your local SR/Sato/Sumika once the notice arrives at your doorstep <3

    45. I wish I can go there. I love his white version outfit too.

    46. Yike! That's only one pay day away instead of the two I'd anticipated. :o Here's to living like a hermit for the next month...

    47. Man, tell me about it! At least the ramen here is much better quality, so living on the 'college-dorm' diet of ramen & rice won't be too bad :sweat And the deadline's in a week, omg! *dances*

    48. Well, I sent my application in on Friday. Now it's up to the Volks lottery. I don't think I'll have any nails left by the end of the month... :sweat

    49. My nails are long gone XDD

    50. Around what date can we expect to see some sets selling on yahoo.jp?

Cause I thought I had time until the cruise but if I understand he'll arrive end june?

    51. We find out who has won a spot on the cruise by the end of June. The actual cruise itself won't happen til July 19th, so that is the absolute earliest you will see him on YJ.

(Then again, knowing Volks, I wouldn't be surprised if he's still in production and they ship him out sometime after the cruise is done...)

    52. gosh I just want to go there and have one SF Reisner!!!!
I love the outfit and the sword, it looks gorgeous!!!!!!!

    53. Thanks gawd I hope it'll be that late!! I wonder what his price will be on yahoo.jp ~_~ I'm kinda worried...

    54. Resiner is sent to you after the cruise so you won`t have him in your hands till after the event.

    55. Yeah, I figured that would be the case. :sweat

    56. I am dying, I want him so much now.

    57. ~_~ I'm so worried about the price..I don't know if I have the jiggles to pay up at least 2k and I know he'll probably be sold for a much higher price on yahoojp.
Gawd my rinkya account limit doesn't go higher than 2k =_=..I feel doomed right now........

    58. O-oh my goodness. That Reisner is AMAZING. *_*

I won't be able to go, but I'm happy for everyone who's going!
