Volks Owner Appreciation Event Tokyo Disneyland 09

Late March. it is late but at least I know how much longer I have to wait.
That really challenges my patience.

 

Late March?!?! I have to agree, that's a bit unacceptable. They should have been shipped BEFORE the next dolpa.. I mean, that event came before the dolpa, it only makes sense!! >_< .. *sigh* Well, at least we know Volks didn't forget about us.. and at least now we have a time frame. It just sucks that I won't get to see my little one until April now.

I did want to give thanks to everyone who helped make GETTING a little one possible for us oversea's. *nod* Thanks guys, a whole bunch. :'D

I hope they ship out the dolls before my vacation. I usually am super patient but I'm starting to be a bit sad since since I am super stressed at work and feels like I've been for Nono longer than I've had to wait for any of my FCS dolls.

She was late for Valentine's , late for my birthday, and here's hoping she makes it for Easter.

I received 3 of the 6 dolls I had on order about a hour ago, but I'm still missing 3 and the dress. This is getting seriously stupid.

 

Awww, I sympathize with everyone who is waiting for their dolls. This is bizarrely unlike Volks, but it sounds like the dolls are finally beign sent out. I also got a notice from VolksUSA yesterday: The SD13 Moonlight Boy outfit that I had ordered during the event is nwo ready for pick up at VolksUSA. It's completely strange that it's taking so much longer for Volks to ship the dolls out to the owners who are already in Japan.

I'm sorry for all who were waiting for them, I'm sorry especially for people who have to wait more.
Btw, their eyes are not glass. Did anyone remove eyes of them? I got Ryo from Y!J, but I've not tried yet. I've heard when you remove eyes you need to be very careful, because these eyes can get damage on their coating.

 

I thought the eyes are Volks HG Glass Eyes? My Mimi and Kun HAVE glass eyes, but I still have to take their eyes out.

 

okay, seriously?! what is up with that Volks?! this has gone from annoying to ridiculous to angering now. I've heard of delays before, but this is maddening.

 

I thought they are glass! I took the eyes out of my Yo Nono, and they seem glass to me, but of course, I am no expert and have never even removed Volks eyes before.

 

I assume that she thought they were acrylic eyes, since acrylics can get their coating damaged when you use thinner to remove the hotglue. I know that the first YoSDs released last year all had acrylic eyes, but the Tokyo Disneyland Event YoSDs are special and should all have glass eyes.

 

Volks newly started selling "Zoukeimura Dollfie Eyes". New eyes were sold with YOs for this event. You can see the paper of these YO, and will find "&#36896;&#24418;&#26449;&#12489;&#12523;&#12501;&#12451;&#12540;&#12450;&#12452;", not "HG glass eye". Of course I know normal acrylic eyes well...

 

My apologies, ria_ria. Angel Den also lists these as Zoukeimura Dollfie Eyes. I wonder what material they're made from since they're not glass eyes. I'll take my YoSD eyes out this weekend and see how they're different from HG Glass eyes.

No, I've bought BOTH first YO-Ryo and Tokyo-event-ver. Ryo. As I wrote Volks had started selling "Zoukeimura Dollfie Eyes" newly. YOs do not have Zoukeimura eyes.

 

Eyes of that Mimi are not "Zoukeimura eyes"... We can get Zoukeimura eyes only from FCS. Because I do not know about "Zoukeimura Dollfie Eyes", I asked that question. I've heard they look like glass but have coating. Some of auctions were saying they got damage when sellers tried to remove eyes from these Tokyo YOs.

 

The eyes are definitely quite lovely, I was looking at Kun's a little while ago. As I have no urethane eyes to compare with, we can but wonder for awhile.

 

All I shall say is... grr. But at least we have some news now. Hopefully it won't take much longer

I got my yo-Kira with what I thought for sure were glass eyes.. after an hour of getting them out of her head (Volks and their hot glue haha, oy), I'm even more convinced that they're glass (or maybe ceramic?). Aside from cracking them open I'm not really sure how else to find out if they are glass or not.

It's hard to tell while they're in a doll, but they have a bit of a rised dome to them.
I could take a picture of them not in a head if that would be useful to anyone.
I thought that I had heard before that the Tokyo YOs would have Zoukeimura eyes, but now that there seems to be a bit of confusion about it so I was starting to wonder if it was true or not...

 

When I finally get Nono hopefully I can help with the confusion. I have zoukeimura fcs, volks hand glass, and various urethane eyes for comparison.

I usually use hot water and a heated metal scrapper to remove eyes so no thinner worries but thanks for the heads up I'll treat them like acrylics not glass when removing. Glass usually doesn't scratch easily but acrylics can crack during removal.

mistress_S_: are they flat backed? FCS zoukeimura are flat backed and sanded smooth. RegularVolks Volks hand glass have paperweight and stems in the back.

elenielMimi doesn't come with Thin green zoukeimura eyes she comes with Green with Grey Line.

ria_ria: Are they selling these new zoukeimura dollfie eyes in the Sumikas or are they only in the dolls so far?

I am wondering about the zoukeimura dollfie eyes FCS zoukeimura eyes do not come in 14mm size. Maybe they are a new line of eyes made by zoukeimura. At Dolpa NY 2 or 3 Mr.Shigeta had mentioned that they had zoukeimura working on smaller eyes for dolls. I though t it was for the rumored smaller than rei doll. Perhaps they also had them work on getting 14mm eyes in hand glass colors.

 

I removed my Yo Mimi's eyes with a dental scraper.
No damage at all. And they are glass.
They look nothing like the HG eyes my Hinata came with.
I believe they are indeed Zouk eyes. They are beautiful.

 

I'm going to weigh in with Ria that at least the eyes Yo SD Ryo came with are definitely not the same as FCS zoukeimura eyes.

Like Ria, I got my Ryo from Y!J and he came with his eyes still hot glued in. They're a lovely blue color, but do not have flat backs like FCS zoukeimura eyes. I can try to get some pictures before I attempt to remove them. They are a lovely color and he is definitely the Tokyo event release Ryo and not the Osaka one.

Personally, on just a quick inspection the eyes seem like urethane to me. They seem a lot lighter and when I tapped my nail against them they felt more like urethane than like glass. They do have the rounded backs with partial stems like HG eyes but they don't look or feel like any HG eyes I've ever owned.

One thing to note is the various Yos all came with different size eyes and some are 16 while others are 14. ^^;; I also got lucky and saw SwD Nana for sale while in Japan and while mine came w/o her eyes she did come with her papers which state she came with Green Gray with Gray Line in 14mm vs. Ryo who came with 16 mm Blue with Black Line. However both came with the same TYPE of eyes.

There are not Zoukeimura Eyes 14mm, and there are not Zoukeimura Eyes with Black line.

I compared weight of "Zoukeimura Dollfie Eyes" with weight of "HG Glass Eyes". "Zoukeimura Dollfie Eyes" are not glass obviously.

Zoukeimura Dollfie Eyes Blue with Black line 16mm / 5.4g


HG Glass Eyes Smoke Olive with Black line 16mm / 10.2g


5.4g + 10.2g = 15.6g

 

I have removed two pairs of zoukeimura eyes using a little plane screwdriver .. taking special care not touching the eyes :/... and it was well.. no damage at all... just needed to be patient and careful.

What do you think they're made of? It seems like urethane to me, especially after you did that experiment with the scale and showed the new type of eyes weigh considerably less than glass.

They are really pretty eyes but now I confess to being a little anxious about trying to remove them >>; Ah well, I shall have to eventually.

ria_ria: Do you think they are ceramic or urethane? The coating reminds me of some urethane eyes but the shape reminds me of glass eyes.

 

These are te same as mine (except mine had the yellow lines). I didn't notice a coating though, but then again I wasn't really sure what I was looking for. What do you mean by a coating?

 

mistress_S_: I think Ria_ria meant the thin transparent line you can see around the white stem. It looks like the white area is coated or sealed with a transparent coating.

But the smallest thin green FCS zouks are 16mm and Mimi has 14mm eyes. When your friend bought her doll from Y!J was it listed as having eyes replaced?

 

If that seller had sold "Zoukeimura Eyes" without saying anything, and if eyes had come with hot glue of Volks, I would say it is a very uncommon phenomenon when I consider about the market price of Zoukeimura eyes and the shape of them. Then...how does such an exception deny my question which was a thing about new eyes?

Although I called Volks main office and asked about the material of these eyes, their answer was not clear...it sounded like these eyes are made with material based on glass. However, their answer was not that "these eyes are made with glass".
I talked about these eyes with a few friends and we think they may be made with urethane. I have DollFlower eyes and ED eyes which look like glass eyes and I compared them. These eyes also could be a kind of hybrid. I cannot say anything clear yet...at least they are not silicon (I have some pair of silicon eyes).
Thank you very much for your kind words for Ryo! I wanted to make Ryo girl. I liked that makeup a lot. I was not able to remove glue because I was very nervous with new eyes...but finally did it yesterday. I carefully did it with Mr.Clear thinner, brush and Volks tweezers and believe I did not give any damage on them. On the phone, I asked about the way of removing glue, and Volks staff said we can remove glue with the usual ways. Good luck

I only own glass (Zouks, HG, Hitomiya, Silver, and some small Japanese makers), urethanes (ED, Gumdrops, Mystic, DropRops+Everpurples) and some acrylics (default eyes from some dolls I don't actually use). I thought they seemed like urethane since they seem awful light. They are really pretty, just not what I want for my Chibi C.C. lol

I plan to make a girl Ryo too! lol I'd gotten the idea from my friend Kim. I'm still so nervous about the removing the eyes myself. I feel thankful my SwD Nana came without hers now. >>;;

I had assumed (my bad) that they were Zouks because they are so much prettier than the HG eyes I already have.
Unfortunately I found a little scratch on one of them while I was looking at them under a magnifying glass. So be careful with them.

 

I'm late in posting this, but I received 2 out of 5 dolls this last Saturday the 28th. I am also waiting for one of the outfits, which should have been with them, but wasn't. Looks like it's shipping seperately, but It really makes me anxious!

 

I have this same eyes on Nana SWD, i have removed in first with airdryer and nail remover ! No damages for me ! i don't know if it the best solution to remove this kind eyes !

 

I don't think it was the method of removal that damaged mine.
I assumed they were glass, so I was not careful enough after I removed them.
I wish I had known they were not glass

Perhaps you can erase the damage with compound (Tamya) ! it is 3 pastes for polishing ! In first you must sand with paper send 400 until 1200 (tamiya too) ! and after use the 3 pastes polishing ! i have remove some damage on acrylique eyes and resin !
