Volks Oath of the Silver Coin Event & Scale Boat

Apr 1, 2011

    1. News thread is here!

I wonder if it floats! I'm planning on converting my garage into a scale replica of Port Royal in order to display it, and I'd love to install a goldfish pool for the harbor! I suppose I could have it in dry-dock, but that's not as cool.

If you got two you could modify one to be different and enact naval battle photostories! :D I plan on using my 45 cm dolls to man the oars!

Can anybody mold foam latex? I want a Kracken with wired posable tentacles!

    2. LOL! Oh, I see what you did there, Volks! :D

    3. Ke ke ke those measurements were insane.

    4. My only question before I commit to buy is will she be seaworthy? It just makes no sense to buy a ship to dock on my fishing pier if it can't float!

Also, is this going to be a Japan only event exclusive? I think Volks members in the US deserve a chance to buy pirate vessels as well.

    5. Boat schmoat. I'm just excited for "Dolpa In Space"

    6. Exactly my point! And what about the UE fans? I'm also wondering if it floats too... I am thrilled about the pictures we could take of it! >_< The price tag is a bit hight too, considering that you shoudl pay first for the cruise.... but this would be so much worth it! :_PP

    7. It depends how many pieces the hull comes in, but maybe you could waterproof it after assembly? You'd also have to be careful with your crew and cargo load balance, because too much resin on one side would cause it to capsize, and just think how long it would take to unstring and dry out all your dolls!

(Oh, I hope we don't have to rely on scalpers! Surely there will be an international lottery?)

    8. To hell with the boat, that cruise it's really promising! You may see your superbigboat with your dolls even from space! Yoho!

    9. Ugh, I shutter at the thought of after market prices. If I had a home I'd have to take out a loan on it.

    10. Also, will sections of the ship deck lift away to access the galley and keel portions of the inside? That's a really high price point if a lot of the space of the finished model is going to be inaccessable for posing, display, and photography. I mean, surely you should be able to get inside the Captain's Quarters, right? How else are we supposed to photograph all those captive pirate 'encounters' between Cecile and Reisner? I might be willing to drop twenty or thirty grand on a 1/3 sale sailing ship, but if I can't even use the inside to shoot dirty pi-- I mean, to shoot photostories, come on!

      edit:
(I wonder if that was too 'adult' of a comment? I'd better go and buy my DoA Big-girl panties just in case my post gets editied by a mod!)

    11. There would literally be no point in buying it otherwise. If you couldn't, all it would be is a fancy, empty pile of costly wood that is utterly useless. I mean, I would still want it but it would be USELESS!

    12. OH MY GOD.

      THIS IS AMAZING.

Den of Angels, thank you so much for showing me this. I am currently on the phone with a real estate agent, I'm going to put my house up for auction. I've just gone to my department head and am dropping out of school. Starbucks has my application, and I got a nice warm spot under the Brooklyn Bridge I can set up my dolls in. I plan to moor this scaled monstrosity in the river. If any of you are in New York, you can come and visit and take pictures of your dolls on it in exchange for cans of Fancy Feast (hey, beggars can't be choosers!)

    13. GOOD FOR YOU! There is no point in having a house if your dolls can't live in a boat!

    14. They got their flippy-floppies, they're all set!

    15. It's so good to be in a hobby with other people who recognize what is REALLY IMPORTANT in life. ^_^

Actually, I'm thinking my garage might be too small for the display I want. I'd never be able to fit in the fort garrison AND the harbor market street, and still have room for the lighting and skrim array on the ceiling to produce variable weather and daylight effects. Maybe I should just build a soundstage in my back yard? It would allow for a bigger harbor tank. So if they release another boat, I'd have a space all ready for it!

    16. Are you sure they're all set? You have to also make sure they have their nautical-themed Pashmina afghans!

    17. You are thinking too small. CLEARLY you have to empty out your whole house and knock down all the walls. There's no other choice, really.

    18. OMG you are SO RIGHT. All I need is to set up a little sleeping cot in the back behind the scaffolding for the island base, and I'm all set! I won't need anyplace to store clothes and stuff, because I'll be selling it all anyway, and spending most of my time in my swimsuit, in the harbor tank with my waterproof camera!

Oh, I hope my wife doesn't mind. *_*

What am I saying! Someone's got to hold the boat steady for pictures! She can do that for me. ^_^

      PS: also, built-in bathtub, amirite?

    19. Doll meets at the lake.... I can see it now.
Make sure you bring your zoom lenses if the boats get too far out.
In bad weather, they can be held at the local pool.

    20. This. I find myself imagining a floating Captain Cecile, followed closely by a floating Williams, Reisner not far behind...all followed by a group of awkwardly floating humans attempting to line up for the lottery, shoving each other this way and that in order to get better spots. xD

    21. When it comes to things like this, there is pretty much no point in having a wife/husband/child/relative if they won't hold your boat steady for doll pictures.

You see? The boat is already paying for itself! :D

    22. Oh wow. I am totally buying a Volks doll RIGHT NOW just to qualify for a chance at this!

...what sort of bra does one wear for an anti-gravity environment?

    23. It could be said that you wouldn't need to wear one at all. ^_^ But a push-up one might cause too much upward thrust and flip you over in a backwards spin.

Personally, I plan to buy a volks-branded Doll Tether to keep my dolls from floating off during the event.

    24. Good question Surreality! Let's ask princess Leia shall we? ;)

LOL okay- that's my one dirty comment for the day.

This boat is FRICKIN AMAZING though- and around $30,000 if my google currency converter is correct XD You know, I've already done three years of college, why the heck do I need another one? I could save about half that money if I dropped out now! :D

    25. None! It's not like it'll be supporting anything anyway. Besides, I think Volk's is trying to go for a flotation theme here. Ships in space with floating woman(not to over look our floating men) and floating boobs. All to go with our -hopefully- floating boat.

    26. hahahaha~ April Fools..... right!? XD

      Volks this is crazy......

    27. Bwahahahaha! IF this were for real, I'd be SO onboard... (pardon the crappy pun).

And I know I could get my boyfriend to assemble the kit *snerk*.

    28. Waiting to see what companies will ride the inevitable wave of success - here's hoping they release a plethora of sailboats, canoes, and dare I suggest, paddleboats! Surely the rest of the industry will follow up on this creative, ingenious, and bold invention. Next year's Soom fullsets will be coming with appropriately scaled kayaks, I expect, and we can hope to see Iplehouse dolls riding glorious Titanic replicas.

    29. ZOMG a 1/3 scale ducky boat . . .

    30. April fools! XD It's the second time that I believe that notice

    31. Personally, I'm hoping for a 1/4 scale Welsh coracle for my MSDs. Although I would not turn down an SD-sized swan paddle boat!

    32. Personally I want a 1/3 scale submarine.

    33. *too busy LMAO to make silly comment*

    34. OMG O.O Actual want!

Lol I totally didn't notice the measurements or the price for a second and took this 100% seriously. XD I was kind of excited just to see photo's of the model pirate ship.

    35. LOl
Can you imagine the EMS shipping cost for this?
      Oh Volks, you so funny.

    36. Is this an April fool's joke??? If not, it's seriously awesome....even it is it's still awesome!

    37. Pssh, BORING. Airships or GTFO. MY boys wanna be airship pirates. Might be a bit hard to control without live crewmembers, though.

    38. April Fool! Volks you fooled me.

    39. Or better yet Spaceship Pirates! They could always join Captain Harlock on his spaceship Arcadia. There's always more room for half blind scarred up son of guns.

    40. I wish Volks would actually make one for themselves. How cool would that display be?!

    41. Awesome! Any room for a raver, a couple of vampires and a psychotic elf or two? They're very good cooks and handy with guns/swords/knives.

    42. It would be AMAZING. So much want.

    43. It would be great, actually, especially if it were set up as a diorama (like a stationary solid ship with the dolls posed on the deck) or as something tha could be walked through, with dolls set up in it.

    44. yeah, yeah! That would really spice up the koi pond at Tenshi no Sato :D

    45. I really want to see one in person :D it would be so epic. Even if it's just an April Fool's joke, Volks really should make one for themselves. :)

    46. Well, if they're doing it *right*, the airship is hanging above this boat, trying to board it, and there's smoke coming out of the cannons on both sides, and half the crew are climbing through the tangled rigging with cutlasses swinging--
What? Disney had that ride Pirates of the Caribbean, for *years* before the movies ever came out. Of course it warped a bunch of us at a young age. Why do you think we like pirates?

    47. But you know what happens if you ride the swan paddle boats... you're doomed to a nasty break up and after what happened with Williams do you think Cecil's heart could really take it if he and Reisner broke-up?

    48. My god! Eye balls will be falling out left and right! D:

    49. Oh nos! Not again. xD But I guess we don't have much to worry about, it's not like they have that many left between them.

    50. I have a strong urge to illustrate this. Three hot sexy dudes with eye patches on both eyes wandering around with their arms flailing... bumping into furniture and each other... bemoaning their impossible love.

    51. But they should keep one and share it between them and be like the Fates...bemoaning their own fate.

    52. All we need now are Dollfie Dream catgirls from "Asobi ni Ikuyo: Bombshells from the Sky". ;)

    53. *snerk* I now have this vision of the three of them passing around Mad-eye Moody's monocle/eye.

    54. What I thought, too! -- for the 10 minutes that I was fooled. But really, if they do make one, it should go into TnS for maximum owners + dolls usage!

If you're able to, please do it! :D

    55. .... must also say, Volks never had anything to do with this April's fool joke! Credits here for the original creator, Sukeban, from the Spanish Bjdoll forum posted this on the Spanish equivalent ''jokes day'', because it was really hilarious and made us laugh a lot! Happy April's fools!

    56. I am the worst person. XD
      [IMG]

"Is that my water glass Cecile?"

(anatomy in this is a little off, I just sketched it super quick)

      Nanyalin:
I am actually a little sad that this wasn't really a volks prank but kudo's to Sukeban for an amazing joke. XD

    57. My first thought was how big would a scale ship be. Then I was thinking where the heck would someone put a boat that large. I didnt even notice the price. I was about to call my friend, she has both Williams and Cecile then it dawned on me maybe this was a joke. I am so glad I didnt call her because I would have felt really dumb. Although a giant scale ship would be cool.

    58. Perhaps Volks feel that during this tough time in Japan, a little comic relief is needed!

    59. hahaha amazing XD best April fool's day joke ever!

    60. everyone needs a boat in their backyard XD
