Midori (means "green" among other things)

Nagisa will be chubby and cute and done by Valico. Midori will be a little grown-up despite being so small, with make-up by MIKEY. A shy doll with black hair tossing in the wind, with a bashful smile.

Twotone, did they mention what dolls were being "removed" from standard release? or is it just "everydoll not mentioned" ?

I'm curious about the new dolls too I can't wait to see pics of them.

that's a lot of discontinued stuff!

no more unoss at all? a lot of people will be sad about that.

and as to optional parts, if anyone needs parts for their older standard dolls they're going to have to rush to get them to make sure they have something that matches.

I wonder if this means though that they are going to update optional parts soon to makeup for the total lack of them after Oct 23rd?

and then... no more SDRio or SDMimi AT ALL? (or I wonder if they are planning to rerelease them in pureskin later?) it seems odd that they are taking them off the market before they are pureskin-ized, unless they just plan to remove them completely!

 

I'm hoping that's going to be the case, because Mimi is my favourite girl, and I really planned on getting one. This is kinda sad, losing so many old friends. I'm hoping it's just a swap over to new resin, or updated versions.

 

Wow... that's ALOT of discontinued. Let's hope all the new dolls and new introductions do well, and they're not sticking their foot in their mouth with this one. I'm sure they're going to have alot of unhappy people, but I'm looking forward to seeing the new dolls -- I don't own any Japanese BJD yet, so it'd be interesting to see if Volks produced something that was a must-have.

 

Wow, I'm glad I got my Megu when I did. It would be MONTHS before I could have gotten another one.

How depressing. They are totally redesigning their dolls and themselves, it would seem. While I wholeheartedly approve of progress and change, it just makes one a little sad to see the "standards" go away.

I hope these new standards are just as loveable and unique as the old ones were.

Descending Twilight, they're not discontinuing Megu... ops: they're just discontinuing the old version of her. The new "pureskin" version will be around still.

wow, this really is surprising. I'm curious as well as to whether or not SD Mimi will be taken out completely or made into a new pureskin version. Mimi was always a favorite of mine so I'd be sad to see her go. I am excited about all the new dolls though. Curious though...will these new unlimited dolls have completely new headmolds or will they be using FCS headmolds? I can't imagine them adding more to the FCS since they already updated it but standard doll heads are always a part of the FCS system. So I'm taking a guess that these new dolls will be somewhat familiar faces. Maybe...though it'd be more excited to see new molds.

Oh well. That still stinks, but I can understand a company wanting to move on. I can't wait to see pics of their new dolls!

This is complete speculation on my part, but...

Since a lot of the 'discontinued' doll heads *are* part of the New FCS system (if I'm reading DoA's New FCS page correctly), I'm wondering if Volks will eventually release them as Standard dolls again, only in PureSkin format. A similar (but not identical) thing happened with Volks's 1/6 scale Dollfies, with several types being 'discontinued' only to show up later in the New EB line.

I hope the various option parts will also be re-released in PureSkin... they have the molds and the materials, and there's certainly a demand for them!

 

I have a friend who want a Rio, and he's waiting for the pure skin version ^o^UU. I think I told him he should go for an FCS doll with Rio head...
It's sad, I want a Mimi too... but I want her with SD13 body, I'll go with FCS for her in the future.
And for the MSD... I hope they make them pure skin in the future because an FCS MSD is a little expensive >.<.

Does anyone know when the photos of the new dolls will be available? I'll have enough saved for my fullsized BJD in mid-October, but the thought of there being all new dolls a few weeks later is tempting and frustrating at the same time -- what if there's no one I like as much as Mimi? ^^;; I'm *really* hoping Volks will release some photos of the new kids before the old ones will be discontinued so I can make a choice.

...And wow, it's kind of unnerving that so many Volks doll are going off the market! (I know when I ordered my Sakura she was listed as "limited run" or something like that, but I never really thought it meant anything.) Any word on whether there will be more Dollfie Cutes? Kaede is adorable, but I didn't get a chance to buy her.

 

I'm sorry to be so clueless but I need someone to clarify what I'm now fearing.

Did that say Megu 13 will be discontinued all together? Or that the old body version of Megu 13 is being discontinued? I've been saving since July to get Megu 13 and I'm only about $100 away from getting her. I have sold of almost my entire vintage My Little Pony collection to be able to do this. So if she is being discontinued for good, I'm gonig to have to hurry up and get that last $100. If she's going to come out in pureskin then I may hold out to get her in the pureskin.

So did that say Megu 13 is gone forever after October? Or that she'll be rereleased in pureskin? Thanks for the help!

 

It sounds like you would still be able to get Megu 13 in pureskin through the FCS. I imagine she would end up costing a bit more though.

I just hope ALL the heads aren't sculpted by Mikey...I'm really not a big fan of most of his sculpts and I liked the variety the other dolls offered. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. I hope one of the new SD13s is a boy!

Wait a minute, one more thing...if they totally discontinue all the dolls they said they were going to and they're only available through FCS, that means there will only be ONE standard SD, two standard SD13s, and two standard MSDs?? Wow, downsizing a bit, aren't they??

Or wait again...they said some of the standards are still going to be available at Tenshi no Sumika, right, but the new standards are at Tenshi no Sato?? I'm just confusing myself more and more...

Sorry if I listed them confusingly. From October 23rd, the standard dolls will be:

SD Pure Skin Nana, Megu, Sara, Nono, Ryo, "Kun". (Kun's gender is not known yet.)
SD13 Pure Skin Mimi, Sho, "Yori" and "Link" (Yori and Link's genders are unknown.)
MSD PureSkin Mika, Ken, "Kohaku" and "Hisui".

It is not yet known whether the other Old Resin SDs will be re-released as Pure Skin versions.

Just so you know, as someone who has old FCS Mimi on a sd13 body, she's FAB. Meow.

But I would be very sad to not see Mimi in the lineup. And then there is Mimi 13 as the only surviving SD13 girl? Wacky. Maybe they'll do new 4 sisters sd13, with Cyndy's head. Mmmmm. We can dream.

 

I am SO glad I have my standard Mimi and Rio. I would hate to have to get them through FCS. This should be interesting. While I like Mimi13 ( I have her on Lishe's body), it surprises me that they kept her out of all the SD13s. I get the impression that she is not very popular or well-liked...

 

I'm glad I found out about this, I was gonna get my Too and Bee-A first and then a MSD Sweet Dream Myu (or just Myu) Now I switching it around! Good thing I can order her on the 7th of october, in time before she's discountiued.

Other than SDMyu...... there aren't other Dollfies I am dying to have...... well asides from Shirou but yah..... *cough cough* that just won't happen!

 

Keep in mind if they re-release her in pure skin or you get her on FCS that the new SD13 girl body has a thicker neck. I don't know if that makes a difference to you. It's sort of alarming for me because I wanted to get a new body for Aisha (my Nana13) because I damaged her a little. With that particular head mold I like the thin, swan-like neck of the SD13 old body rather then the thick neck of the new. The new body is really nice though and it looks great for a head mold like Cyndy or Madoka, but I don't think it looks so good with Mimi13 or if they put the SD13 sister head on it. That's my opinion though, don't know if you mind the thicker neck or not.

Unless they offered it in pureskin with the thin neck...but I don't think so considering Madoka, Cyndy and Mimi13 all have the new bodies with the thicker neck.

If I want to get a body to match the new (to me) SD Megu head that I just got I should get it now because the new ones wont match?

and if I wanted a sleeping head (the old f-05) so my Megu could nap every once in a while I should order it NOW !!??

You might be able to get away with a new pureskin body with the old skin head. I've seen several people do so and it doesn't look bad at all. I sold off my SD Michael's body so I could get him the new pureskin one. It might not match *exactly* but it's close enough and that's good enough for me.

Meg or Meg13? Because SD Meg is still going to be offered (in pureskin). It's SD13 Meg that's discontinued...though you can still get her with the new SD13 body (see my post about that above). I have a feeling they might release her in pureskin at some later date though...

 

Thanks Zalem for clarifying that. I'll go ahead and put my order in for her before October. I'm sure in the far future I'm going to get an FCS SD13 so if I like the pure skin body better I could always buy a new body for her.

i'm SO curious about the new minis though! i am a huuuuuuge MSD fan, one of very few it seems, and if they come out with a cute boy in pureskin, my little Lilac is going to get a boyfriend!!!!

also, i really wonder what the new standards / 13s will look like... i will prolly get beat up for this, but, i just am NOT fond of ANY of the bigger doll's heads. some of the optional heads, like F-08 and such, i think are lovely, but the regular ones just don't appeal to me. if i like any of the new head molds, i might end up with one of them

 

I'm rather hoping that they update the MSD bodies with the newer sitting body. Or develop something in the MSD line that isn't so annoying to pose and sit.

 

I'm pretty sure that this is all just part of the big changeover from the old type of resin and bodies to the new type.. I bet Volks will start releasing more regularly available dolls again, or at least I really hope they do. Who knows which ones though! I wish they were more clear with this announcement, just so it didn't sound so shocking!

At this point in time, I'm not sure Volks (or the deputy shoppers) can guarantee anything.

Volks notes that they will have more details of the Standard Fair (and hopefully the changeover from old resin to PureSkin) on October 9th.

The text seems to suggest that the discontinued items are now limited to whatever the various showrooms and Tenshi no Sumika have in stock, but they don't give a date for when they will stop making those parts.

My (unfounded) belief is that Volks will probably re-release many of our favorites in PureSkin. Since the Four Sisters are still available in PureSkin SD form, I would think that they'd show up as PureSkin SD13 as well... but they'd probably wait until the next Dolpa to do something like that.

 

Thanks so much twotone. I'm feeling a little better now. What is the difference between the Standard resin which is used on the current dolls and the Pureskin? Is it a better Feel or a different Look (like the beautywhite skin?) And when will the next Dolpa be?

 

The pureskin is more translucent, and more matte than the old resin. It also feels very nice, a bit like coated old resin. I like it very much, and I don't know of anyone who has seen and felt both, and prefers the old resin. ^_^ Which is not to say I like my old resin boy any less...I just think the pureskin is an improvement!

 

That doesn't sound bad, Shan! I think I'm looking forward to the changes now BUT hopefully they re-introduce the 4 SD13 sisters with pureskin otherwise I'll be very sad as I want a Nana13 so badly but have no funds to buy her and this won't change for a couple of months I'm afraid, so fingers and toes are crossed that Volks will continue most of the old molds.

 

I'd love to wait and find out if Megu 13 will be released in pure skin, as I'd rather have her with a pure skin body. But I'm not going to risk it. My mom gets paid on Oct. 1st and I'm going to borrow the last bit of money I need and I'll put my order in for Megu 13 then. I just don't want to wait and then find out I missed my chance. Megu 13 was the doll that made me fall in love with dollfies.

The problem is that we all can only assume but don't know for sure that these girls will come out in pureskin. If they don't, well I guess I'll lament for a while (and most likely cry too... ) I hope you'll post lots of pictures of your beauty when she arrives!
