Oh, please do take some pics and post them here! I'm just discovering how much I like the Volks MSDs, too!
Does anyone if Volks USA will start up the FCS again this year? I'd like to try and attempt to bring a MSD home if funds allow for it!
No one has heard anything yet. When we asked, we were told they didn't have an estimate on when it would resume.
Khell aww~ Makarius is such a pretty name~ I actually know someone named that in real life too x3; I think it suits him a lot! Selenae I'd love to be hopeful but it seems like they don't have many plans for overseas/US things for this year so far. Part of me weeps for it yet part of me is very glad there will be no temptations (and no double shippings to get things sent to Europe). On my end... my boy has been taken captive by customs so I'm now waiting not very patiently to receive him. I am simply dying to work on his faceup and dress him in all the clothes I commissioned for him, although I'm a little afraid I won't have any eyes to fit him around as his older pair I used with his prior shell is probably one size too small for him...
Thank you. They are Aqua AISU² eyes (now called DollBakery). I got them back when she first started selling eyes. So, I decided to mix things up a bit. Here is MiChan on an SDC body with Midi arms/hands (I like the hands)
MiChan is adorable! I love her outfit, too. Speaking of DollBakery, both my Volks girls have brand new eyes from her. My F-20, wearing "Denim": DSC_0824 by AndreaJEP, on Flickr My F-13, wearing "Rainbow": https://flic.kr/p/qNVTXx
Wohoo! My F-21 got her ears this week and oh the glorious fabulous cute she became. So I painted her today. I'm kinda cuckling because all the cute. She doesn't even look like I painted her, it's kinda confusing. She'll get a longer wig tomorrow that's a bit different color, but pastel all the way! More pics of her in my Tumblr, I won't flood this page. Here's Kisu! It's actually a pet name of kissa, which means cat in finnish... yeah I'm so creative and all.. XD
I really wish I can get some Dollbakery eyes myself at some point... Until then I swear by MakoEyes and EnchantedDoll though. CathyM you're making me yearn for an F-21! MiChan looks absolutely fabulous~ I love what you did with her so very much! So sweet and innocent looking~ Zardi uwu your F-20 is the cutest... but then again I'm horrendously biased as it's my favorite MSD of all time. @Gigi Kisu looks adorable in her outfit~ may I ask where it came from? It hits right home with my aesthetic preferences! (I've also always found the fact that kissa means "cat" in Finnish a little bit hilarious, in Greek "kissa" is the name of the common magpie xD; )
Soenatte: Thank you! I actually got the outfit from Osaka at a local doll shop, they probably don't have a website (at least I don't know it) and I can't remember who was the maker of it... Sorry T__T Finnish is a dumb language, we sound so rude/sharp (I heard that from my friends from outside of Finland and I totally agree). Nothing can make it sound pretty. XD And magpie is harakka in finnish... How pretty.
Thank you! I looove my F-20! She was my grail doll and I never thought I'd get her because she was so rare on the MP. Do you get email updates from DollBakery? They cost about the same as ED, so you might as well jump into the next pre-order
I completely forgot to respond in here! Zardi yep! I actually hadn't heard of F-20 for quite some time because not a lot of people seemed to have it back in the day, but it became a grail for me as well! As a matter of fact, it still hasn't quite sank in that I finally own one after all this time, in suntan no less! Giggy flood it more! Your dolls are all as cute as buttons! And I've just faceuped my F-20 so I can finally share him! ;v; This is Ealdred, my little deer boy~ I got him during the last FCS with the help of my friend in the US and I can't say just how happy I am with him~
DragonMouse you should definitely share your Ken~ I'm sure everyone would be delighted to see him!
Thank you. He needs a "spa" trip and I need to charge my camera, but I'll have pics up soon! Pleased to meet you.
Zardi, may I know what size of eyes suitable for f-20? I'm a bit confused lately what the most suitable eyes for f-31. I tried 16mm but seems the eye pupil color invade the eye hole too much…haha…now i have f-20, the eyes are also big and round… Anyone…please advise me TAT
nichan I use 16mm in mine myself. I've found that most 14mm eyes tend to gap a bit. I can get comparissons for you if you'd like. uvu I have eyes as small as 12mm to as big as 20mm
thank youuuu for helping… I think, I will refer to 16mm. May be I shouldn't use dark pupil so it won't look too 'full of dark' in the eyes…
I just got back from a trip to Japan, and was quite naughty at Tenshi no Sato. I can never resist coordinate models, and this month's batch were completely irresistible. (And a very dear friend pointed out that this thread had a dearth of pictures of these 2 girls). Originally the plan was to buy an F-33 on one visit, and then an F-35 on another. Well, I bought the F-33 instantly. I was first in line at the event, and a friend warned my that the F-33's are very popular right now, so I bought her. Then I settled down, took pictures around Sato, and waited for friends to shop and for cake to be available. Hours later, when no one else was buying, I kept looking at the dolls again. Even though there was a really pretty F-35 there, there was a simply lovely F-37 girl that tugged at my heart every time I walked by her. She was so sweet ... she kept whispering that she wanted to come home with me ... well, darn it, 30 minutes later I caved and indeed she did. Okay, unplanned on, but no big deal. I was coming back in two days, and would buy my F-35 if they had a great one that day. And wouldn't you know it - exact same thing happened with an F-37 the next trip! Those are some sneaky dolls, those F-37 girls. So now I have a new F-33, and F-37 twins. Here is the F-33 girl: And here is my first F-37 girl. Warning: DO NOT LOOK AT THE PICTURE BELOW IF YOU ARE LIKELY TO FALL FOR SWEET AND INNOCENT DOLL FACES. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z201/justkatie179/IMG_0065_zps2j8mqudc.jpg
Hi justkatie179, So excited about your new Msd F-33 and F-37. Can't get enough of the new FCS and Sato head molds. Thanks for sharing photos. What an awesome trip!
Thank you Ginarolo! It really was an incredible trip. The new FCS and Sato head molds are even lovelier in person - I'm so impressed with the direction that Volks has been headed sculpt-wise as of late.
Ahhh so many cute MSDs >w< To be honest, I never really gave much thought to the MSDs until I saw the ads that Volks USA posted for their FCS. I fell in love with one of the sculpts and thought it would be available, but it turned out to be a Sato sculpt! Long story short, I managed to get a coordinate model xD Here she is, my F36 ^^
It seems quiet in here. I took some photos today of my Volks minis with DragonMouse. His Ken likes to hang out with my minis on occasion.
Oh thank you, justkatie179! I really want to go to the LA Dolpa (especially since it falls on my birthday), but I'm not sure if I can because the semester would have started by then >~< If I do get to go, I'll definitely bring her!
justkatie179 your girls are wonderful!!! Love how positively cheerful they look! Nilu your F-36 is amazing *-*;;;; She looks so ethereal... I have no idea why I tend to overlook this sculpt all the time... And I finally took some proper pictures of Ealdred to share... He's a sunlight F-20!
Soenatte: Thank you so much! I am glad you like her ^-^ F36 is probably more overlooked as she looks slightly more mature than other mini sculpts. She looks more like a little lady, and I was attracted by her serene expression and her sweet smile, even though I think the other recent scupts are really cute too! I was struggling to find nice outfits for Yumiko, and finally found the perfect dress ^-^ Your Ealdred looks so dashing and like he just popped out of one of the chronicles of Narnia! I really like how you've styled him, he's very unique *-*
Thank you, you two! justkatie179 I'll admit that -yet again- F-20 was one of those sculpts I barely paid any mind to. I don't know why I always tend to do this. I had a major falling out with Eal's previous sculpt at the time and had just sold him when I ran across pictures of a normal skin F-20 on flickr that made me fall in love... and just in time for the FCS no less. I just couldn't be more fortunate with how this all went... Nilu... I'm doing my best not to add all the Volks MSDs to my wishlist right now... I must say it's very hard to resist. I'll agree with the F-36 looking mature though! And Yumiko looks like such a perfect little lady in her flowy dress! It's one of the reasons I like her so much I think. uvu Many of my minis represent slightly older characters so I find the touch of maturity in a lot of sculpts rather appealing. That's also the reason why F-35 is my current grail... I just have no way to acquire him since he's a sato-only mold. @u@ And I'm glad that Eal comes off that way! x3 that's more or less what I was hoping for~ Even though his character is usually supposed to look more dishevelled colar shirts just go so well with him... ~3~ it's hard to resist dressing him up!
Soenatte: Aww I know what you mean >m< I'm trying hard to limit myself with two (Yumiko, and Mihmi will come in June!). Don't lose hope about F35! I have a seller in Japan who sold F36 to me and F35 to my friend, Abel! They were both coordinate models so they were also available from Tenshi no Mado, which I didn't realize at that time. I was also feeling hopeless that F36 was Sato-only! Here is Abel's F35 and my F36: If you're interested, I can get you in touch with my seller! Just let me know ^-^
Wow theres so many beautiful doll here I have a Volks F-20 in sunlight! She's my first bjdI got her this year and her name is Rosebud, I did her faceup myself and also her wig, I can't wait to see more of everyones babies and i hope you guys like Rosie
Yay! I got my long waited F-12, Pokkuru! I have to do some eye -searching and I've already getting a better suited wig but she'll wear this until I get them. She had a bath to wash off her dirts and some restringing (I'm literally out of string now..)
Rosie is a little cutie. I like the detail on her face especially the detail of her lips. That must have taken some time. I actually just adopted my first BJD this year too. She is a “Ran in Harajuku” from Volks. I had been chasing after her for a few years. I lost out on the first one I saw and finally was able to adopt her the second time around.
Hey guys, I have an older MSD that's using the old system where the string attaches to the headcap and that's what holds the whole thing together. I've been wanting to modify her to use a donut ring but I'm having a bit of trouble finding one that'd fit the MSD. Admittedly I only frequent a few webshops. I was was wondering if anyone whose done this before has suggestions as far as where to buy one?
Hi Revien, I have some older msd that uses a rubber band to attached head cap to S hook. But I haven't seen a Volks MSd ever strung with elastic going through body all the way to head cap. I have seen some very old Msd that had rubber pellets that attached head cap/to head. But I don't remember how they were strung. If you have elastic string going all the way through body to head cap. I would restring elastic just to body/neck. Get a metal washer at hardware store to put at neck and to hold S hook in place. VolksUSA sells Msd S hooks if you need more. I would then get small rubber band and attached head cap to S hook. If you can please show us some photos.
Yeahhh, I'd rather not stick anything metal to rest against the neck, especially not in this particular doll and even if I inserted a kip under it. I've noticed even s hooks leave little indents outside of the pre-made ones. I'll keep looking. I thought Luts sold some but I only see SD sized donuts.
Hi Revien, VolksUSa used to sell some resin pieces that went into old heads. I can't find it right now but maybe Volks Japan might have it on their website.
Are you thinking of the attachment set? I don't believe they've ever sold an MSD version, unless the SD version can also fit MSDs. Anyway, my Volks Ian just had her faceup finished by the artist, figured I'd share a photo Ian by Revien, on Flickr They did an amazing job working with all the sculpted parts on the face.
Hi Revien, Yes, the attachment set. That's it. I don't know if it fits old Msd as well as SD. It's worth asking. I didn't know you had a Ian. Wonderful face-up on a very special doll. Here's a link to a box opening of member Roterwolkenvogel Ian. So everyone can see the kit of the first Msd Volks made ever. http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php/661759-A-blast-from-the-past!-Volks-Ian I also have a friend who owns one. I'll ask her about head attachment issues.
Oooh, what a wonderful face-up! It's so exciting to see another Ian! Ours - Roterwolkenvogel's and mine, we bought it together - is just getting her face-up done. As for the head-issue, for the time being we just used an S-hook and tied the headcap to it. Vogel will look into it again once she's got Ian back from the face-up artist. I'm sure she'll find a good way to do it, she's really good at restringing and sueding and that kind of stuff.
Does the s-hook not dissapear into the body? Though i guess sine its tied to the headcap probably not. I've already modded the wrists and such to be one-touch to make it easier on myself, but since her head has been away I've been really lazy as far as looking into it. At this point the only thing i know for sure is that i'll likely make the cap magnatized. I just like changing eyes too much to keep it as is.
We used a really, huuuge s-hook to hold the head in place. That's why we still need to find a better option. We'll probably go along with a neck donut - either buy one or I can make one myself with Milliput. Still got about half a ton of that stuff.
Giggy I love this sculpt! One of my all time favs! So happy someone else loves her too. Oh Revien your Ian is just stunning! I have an Ian that was strung by Volks. I will look in her head to see if they put the hook in there. I've always thought that hook was SD sized, but I will look.
I have a Volks MSD Mihmi who I love very much I'm in the process of changing her character and I'm having a hard time deciding on her name. :/ I was thinking Karen or Yukari. I was leaning more towards Karen.
Hi folks. Just returning to the hobby after a long break and thought it was about time I introduced Laika, my old, old MSD Mika.
Hi I am new and sharing my darling. She is F18 and I just got her in July this year. http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b369/Mmisssy/mybaby3.jpg http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b369/Mmisssy/mybaby4.jpg
I know how that is! When I saw F-29 I had to have one of my own someday I was able to order Kei last year Oldish pic but I haven't taken any new ones since I started his piercings
