Volks Hometown Dolpa Osaka 4 Discussion

Jun 25, 2007

    1. What's the lottery like (on Volks USA)? Do we pay money to be in the lottery or do we just stick our names in? Sorry, Volks n00b 0.0;

    2. Just as a heads-up, the USA site says that Amakusa's wig is 'DD' size but both the Japanese site and the original Volks News have it listed as being 'SD' size. So for now I would go with the assumption that it is SD size, not DD as the USA site says.

Err, I think it's been mentioned during just about every Dolpa discussion that Volks get a much crappier exchange rate from their bank than you are going to get from an online currency convertor. Not to mention they also have to factor in additional costs such as shipping the dolls to the USA store. :sweat

You should only enter the lottery if you have the money to afford the doll. They 'test' charge everyone's CCs in advance, regardless of whether you will win or not. They obviously return the funds to those who don't win, but if you don't have the money at all to afford it then your CC won't accept the charge and Volks will cancel your entry. :sweat
Manami has a very useful guide to buying Volks LEs here:
      http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?t=131872
It should cover all you need to know. :)

    3. does anyone know if they've listed the afterevent dates? if so does anyone know? O.O

    4. I'm pretty sure they havne't listed the After event dates as of yet, since they just posted the official pictures of the Limiteds today:sweat... They usually post the dates for the after event a week or two after the actual Event;)....

On another note, I wasn't really too sure about Cristal, but the more I look at her the more she's pulling at my heart strings:love and I LOVE Sweet Dream Nono's Outfit:aheartbea though I doubt I could afford Sweet Dream Nono:roll: I woud love her outfit, shoes and wig if anyone is looking to sell them:sweat

    5. *Huggs on Anthony for the into ^_^ *
      thankies ^.^

    6. What about if you're trying for multiple dolls -- in the hope that you'll win one of them -- but can only actually afford one? Does Volks pre-charge the cost of all the dolls you enter for at once, or each individually?

    7. so, would the after event or orders from the two doll shops in the US, would they be around the end of the month? I really like the girl yo-sd, lol. There goes my save money for the NY dolpa trip next year plan for this month, gah. ><

    8. so who's getting what??
i'm kinda lost after looking at the official pics.. longed for ayumu, but tanpopo's faceup is :aheartbea

    9. They only put a hold charge on your credit card for what you win. But I think Cassiel mentioned they test charge whether your credit card can take charge for what you enter

    10. They will put a temporary hold for all the dolls you enter the lottery for, but will only charge you for the ones you win. But if you don't have enough money to cover the temporary hold, I think they cancel your entry.

    11. Ah, that's what I mean, the test charge. Like, say if you apply for Cristal and Nono, but will only purchase one if you win... when they test charge your card, do the test it for the price of Cristal and Nono together, or first Cristal, and then Nono, separately?

ETA: Oh, okay, Akane-chan, you answered my question. I guess I'd better really hope I get the one I'll apply for. XD

    12. The after event will be announced a couple of weeks after the Dolpa. The 2 doll shops have their orders at the same time as the US lottery.

    13. You don't get a choice if you win both, you have to pay for both even if you only want one. They will charge you using the credit card number you give them when you enter the lottery. It will actually state in their rules, once they put them up, that you can't cancel your order or even part of your order.

Just remember, there is always the after event and the second hand market if you don't win. Hopefully this helped and Good Luck!!!!

    14. hmm couple of weeks, i MIGHT can make that, I hope, I really like the girl yo. :D

    15. X____X :crinkles things in hands: ARG I dunno what to do

cristal >.> amakusa <.< cristal >,> amakusa <.< :does eenie mini miney moe: ><

      a;ldskjf

maybe i should ignore Osaka 4 x--x since they'll prob blast us with more awesomeness 2 months after :cries:

    16. Thank you, that clears it up for me :)

    17. This probably has been asked and answered a million times before and i've done my share of homework by reading Manami's guide. But i still want to ask just so i'm sure :) (and because i'm stupid ;)...)

i live in europe but really want cristal, is trying at the after event the only option if i don't want to try through a middle person. And if i have to go through a middle person are there people who are taking such orders or that are willing to help me, for a fee? I just don't trust myself on making it in the after event (or my boyfriend for that mather because he will back out of it at the crucial time as usual when it comes to me buying dolls and i need his cc)

      floor

    18. I could be wrong but I think you're obliged to buy both if you win both. Like, you can't cancel an order for one if you win both. That's how I ended up with Piccolo and Anne, although I only wanted 1. :sweat
      H

    19. I'm so excited and nervous at the same time!!! :D I'm so glad the official pics are up and we now know the dates and official prices of the lottery. :) Sweet Dream Nono isn't as expensive as I thought she would be! :o But add on sanding/coating, tax, shipping costs... *_*

Oh please let me get my beautiful dream girl!! :eusa_pray I'll be heartbroken if she slips through my hands. :(

    20. Actually they will hold the funds on the card until after the lottery for everything you enter for. It is not just a test charge, they will hold the funds until the end of the drawing. Then they will release the funds and charge what you have won if anything.

    21. Ok I'm entering for Konomi and Zalradia (yes that's a 1/6 doll, but she's lovely!)
I'm still hesitating on Estel but... not enough money so I will pretend I don't know about her existence.. or something like that =p

    22. Just a heads up for Canadians who want to try the lottery at Volks USA... it seems the shipping you no longer have a choice, you have to use UPS which will result in huge brokerage fees.

      http://www.volksusa.com/shipping.html

The line where Canadians had a choice between UPS and EMS (USPS) is no longer there. Also people told me they had had no choice when they bought from Volks USA recently so... just so you all know.

    23. Oh dear. I hadn't been paying attention to this Dolpa, but I looked at pictures last night. . .and I am in love with Cristal! I can't believe this, but I'm selling off my lovely Kun to try and get her. I knew there was a reason I try to ignore Dolpa dolls. First Papi, now Cristal!

After the LA Dolpa, I need to just ignore everything Volks produces from now on. My wallet will thank me ^^;;.

    24. I don't blame you Zalradia is very beautiful! I have many 1/6 dolls but they came out wierd since I never diluted the paint but when I paint DDs I know to dilute it XD I still have yet to seal them so I painted over it in some acrilic paint holder thing and added a tad blush lines on my DDh01 so know she looks like Konomi's little sister/big sister hey I might make Konomi the big sister! :D

    25. Actually I don't think that is true. Every lottery I have entered (I have entered all except 1), the funds are released well before the drawing. I think it depends on your bank/credit card, not Volks. My bank only holds funds for 3 days.

    26. I'm going to try to get tanpopo. ^_^ I think she would be great as the daughter of my school A boy.

    27. The person who entered the lottery for my Reisner, with the 'test charge' they held the funds for about 12 days. So they basically released the funds only 2-3 days before we found out that we had won. It was a bit of a hassle for her as I hadn't paid her the money then (I didn't have it, I was waiting for a cheque) and so both of us had to scramble to cover it because it was her debit card, not her credit card, and it put her into overdrawn. :| So yeah, do be careful -- they may hold your funds for up to two weeks.

    28. Yikes...I do hope this lottery goes well for me. My account will be fine for holding funds, though I do hope they don't hold them that long without even letting me know whether or not I've gotten the doll. Thus far I've either purchased my LEs in person or in the online After Event. But I need my lil Ayumu! Good luck to everyone who's planning to enter!

    29. Well they held the funds up and too the day of the lottery on my card and my husbands card for the past few lotteries. Now they sent notifications out the next day, but the funds were held to the day of then what I won was charged. It happened to me which means it can happen to anyone of us. I just thought it be better to be on the safe side as they can hold the funds for awhile. ;)

    30. Yuck, maybe it's different with a credit card than a bank. I have always used my debit card to pay for my dolls and my bank's policy is 3 days max. That sucks that they would hold it for that long because that misleads people into thinking they won when that isn't necessarily the case :( I know last time that someone had a problem that their bank forgot to release the funds a long time after she found out she hadn't won.

If anyone is worried, it would be best if you look into your bank/credit card's policy on holds.

    31. Well I guess that decides it for me, no possibility of a Yo-SD this year. I had finally gotten to a point now where I will most likely have enough money to enter the lottery, but UPS charges INSANE fees and I do not feel like and cannot really be spending an extra 150$ on top of cost and shipping. -_-;

    32. Hey you kind of scared me with that comment Acexkeikai!!
I just went to Volksusa and added something to my shopping cart, then did a checkout and scrolled down the shipping options :

      UPS Ground
      UPS Standard to Canada
      USPS (EMS) to Canada
      UPS Worldwide expedited
      USPS (EMS) to Mexico

Sooo EMS to Canada is STILL AVAILABLE!!! Never scare me like that again please *_*
Now, you have no more excuse to not enter the lottery for Amakusa!! hehehehe

    33. it really depends on your bank i suggest calling in and finding out

and thats really unfortunate for canadian buyers

i suggest contacting a person in CA to pick it up for you perhaps? or if you friends/family in the US that can EMS it to you,,,may save you a LOT of money? :/

I'd offer to help people pick it up but it would just be really awkward since im so frequent at the store

    34. I think you are right akane--chan. It is probably best for people to check with their bank or credit card company. Having funds tied up like that is no fun, but I do understand why they do it. Hopefully everything will work out smoothly for everyone this time around. ^_^

    35. Well on their shipping page they state that they are just using UPS... and some people did order and they never got the choice to change their shipping order. How strange

    36. Maybe someone should email the store and ask? It couldn't hurt anything.

    37. I'll e-mail or phone them tomorrow... can;t tonight and when I'll come back they'll be closed =\ But if Chibichibiusa said it worked I believe her!

    38. *sigh*, I really, really like Cristal's outfit. I have something extremely similar and I would love to dress up with her, or one of my guys wearing that outfit...I'd even go for a split it I had to...anyone interested?

    39. I won't be entering the lottery this time... no one that I have to have. But best of luck to everyone who plans on entering. There are some really beautiful dolls this time around!

    40. Hmm, I wonder: Do you frequent the store more or do I? Ive already been labeled as a "regular" to the store, so much that the employees dont even need ID or my name when they ring me up.

I suggest people ask someone outside of California to enter for the lottery for them, since California customers always have to pay the sales tax, which comes to over a hundred dollars on dolls. If I enter for the lottery, I may ship the doll to an out of state friend of mine and have him ship it back to me, since I would end up paying less on shipping than CA sales taxe.

Plus, itll keep us from visiting the store too often.

    41. Alright guys, the yo-sd's have the same face mold right? Cuz, in some pics, it looks like Tanpopo has no top lip, whereas the boy does and it's making me nervous. ><

    42. Yup, same face mold. :) It's just the faceup that makes the two look different.

    43. ahh ok thought so, thanks! I think volks pics are sometimes not the best, when lin and shinn came out i didn't like them at all, but when i saw owner pics i was like, OMG! ^_^

    44. Maybe a stupid question, but does anyone know when the international after event will be? I really like Ayumu, but I'm not sure if I can get the money in time..

    45. I think I know! Lemme go see the Japanese site...I know a little...:) ....umm...it seems that they didn't post it..then again I could be wrong...but it doesn't look like it. Oh I have an idea I think it would probably be Aug.15 or 14 but just keep checking it just in case!:)

    46. I think someone said earlier that the After Event is around two weeks after Dolpa.

    47. Ok..because it says on the Usa site the lottery is around 15th, and then it usually takes them a few days until everyone hears if they won anything, and then the after event is after that, right? So that people who didn't win anything in the lottery, can try again in the after event..I guess I'll just stalk this thread and count pennies XD

    48. Yup! Volks pics aren't always the best like when I first saw Konomi I was like she's so frickin cute...except she's not very detailed then I see VolksUSA's pics and i'm like I WANT KONOMI!!!!!!!!!! KONOMI OMG! KONOMI! ^^

    49. Well despite how much I want Sweet Dreams Nono I know I just can't afford her right now :( I am so close to graduating and finally being able to work full time but still two weeks away is too soon. sigh..

I keep thinking about Tanpopo though, she is so cute and would make a good friend for my Chinatsu. I already regret not going for Linn and I don't want to feel this way about Tanpopo who I like just as much.

    50. Go for it "FFT"-Chan! ^^

    51. Raouken >> Yup, I think Dolpa and the lottery are held closely in time (though I'm not from the USA) and the after event is slightly later. I didn't check, to tell the truth, but I remember people going crazy with their credit cards one or two weeks after the show XD

    52. haha same here! XD If I can get the money in time, this will be my first after event..and my first tiny, if I can get him :D *exited*

    53. I think my tanpopo's name will be Miyuki. ^___^ I hope I get her, and here I was thinking I could buy myself something soon, heh yeah right. lol.

    54. Question about the lottery... Volks USA tells us this for the lottery:

It is already time for Dolpa Osaka 4! Who will you put in an application for?

Applications for the limited items will be accepted from August 12th at 11:00am PST until August 15th at 11:00am PST.

When will they tell people if they won the lottery? I hadto wait I think 2weeks to know if Shinn would be mine but they said what date we would know... but not this time...

    55. The days of the After Event : 25th (Sat) and 26th (Sun) August
Time : AM10:00~ (time in Japan)

Good luck to you all :aheartbea

    56. Does anyone has an idea on how much of shipping charge for a doll (SD13) shipping domestically? I live in CA, which will be charge extra sales tax. Just want to compare which way is cheaper, pick up from VOLKS LA store with extra tax or ship to other states.

    57. Welovedolls just sent me an email on the items they have to order, they have all the dolls and some clothes. if you're interested, email them, Debra is just great to talk to and very understanding! I just hope I can get Tanpopo! ^___^

    58. Thank you so much! But..there are two days for the after event? I always thought the after event was..well..like..clicking like mad for 10 minutes and then everything is sold out? *laughs* Do they restock the next day?

    59. I've never had any luck with the AE. I can't even get on the site for 10 minutes before it begins, and than when I do get on everything is gone. And they don't restock, although it lasts for 2 days.
