So confirmed by others, mystery guy is Hijikata we think. I'm gonna go with that too after comparing, too bad he probably isn't being offered...

I think they are just trying to go for a more athletic look for these sword wielding type characters, hence the SDGr bodies. I love Okita anyways, then they decided to call him Romantic Glance Okita…now I'm dying, and I don't usually even care about Normal Skin type releases for the most part.

I want all the FCS sculpt from this round and last round, just all of them!

 

I totally agree, it's Hijikata- my guess is that Volks won't offer him but will offer the option outfit so if you already have him- viola! Transformation. Then you can buy the other three and you are all set.

All said, gorgeous group- the additional photos really help a lot in getting an accurate pic of what they will look like! (thank you for posting the link) I also thought the head sculpt for Saitou vs Kondou is interesting. I thought Kondou sported the different jaw line for the Gou body? Thrilled Saitou is on the SDGr. I'm screwed. D:

I suppose I am still a Saitou girl all the way. He's incredibly moody and handsome. I just wanna put some glasses on him. No particular reason- I just like guys in glasses!

I thought for sure Saitou Hajime would be on the SD17 body! I don't know if it's the similar hairstyle, height, or jacket, but he reminds me of a certain clean freak in the Leather Napoleon Jacket set photo.

The Romantic Glance name for Okita is cute, along with the picture of him furtively glancing towards Hijikata's direction. But I can't help but feel sad about the accompanying text to his photos. Something along the lines of "Hey Hijikata san. I will give you my life, along with the flag." and "The Makoto's colors are like the color of my blood. If only times were better... No one could have stopped my blade." Possibly alluding to his sickness? D:

 

I didn't know anything about the background of the historical figures but I have been looking it up and it's all very interesting! I also love the "Romantic Glance" name for Okita. He will definitely need to come home as an alternate head for my OE Okita!

 

Saito was actually not as tall, nor as handsome, as they depict him in a lot of the anime based on the Shinsengumi. One of the few pictures I've seen of the real guy has him fairly odd-looking, truthfully.

Still, the Volks Saito is fabulous. I just need to figure out how to lay my grubby paws on him... I'll KEEP this guy if I get him because, while I didn't know who Hijikata was at the time, I most certainly know who Saito is!

 

Daww... The dreaming version of Okita is adorable. I know my luck with Volk, though. Not a chance I'll be able to get my hands on one. XP

 

Haha yeah, he was also sadly one of the few of his group to live to old age (Well good for him, just not the others). As it is I'm also in love with this Saitou, it sucks I probably won't be able to get him.

 

I dare say that the dreaming Okita will be popular...Sculpt looks good.
For me, I love the new dresses. I think I have to buy at least one…

 

I'll definitely have to get some of those guy clothes. If I got the money. I need clothes for my SD13 ...

Well, dolly or cartoon versions of any historical dudes are necessarily hotter than the real thing. Sells better. Masamune Date was also said to be fairly coyote-ugly and one-eyed and disfigured by smallpox scars, but the Volks incarnation is Hel-loooo Warlord! And I like Volks's Hijikata way better than the dude whose photo shows up in Wikipedia. Okita actually was said to be a complete cutie IRL, but I still think his dolly versions are cuter. :3

Saito looks a fair amount like Ryoya, and he's on the SDGr body-- I'll bet his head is tiiiiiny. But still, I have seen a SD17 hybrid of Ryoya and he's a knockout, so an SD17 Hajime would probably work OK too. That'd be hot. He wouldn't be able to wear that smokin' uniform though.

I love Saito's hair most of all, I think. Yuki is already gunning for that wig, I just know it....

I hope you snag him!

Ohh, that is sad! Yeah, Okita suffered from tuberculosis, wasn't it? At least Volks didn't go as far as including little bloodstained handkerchiefs in his fullset. At least I hope they didn't. ;;^^ I thought at first that his sleepy-eyed sculpt has that romantic-sickroom expression about it... but, if it is "Romantic Glance", then Volks is definitely playing it slashy. (As is their habit. xD)

Okita looks so delicate, even moreso in the presence of the 2 new boys. They are so...gruff (not in a bad way).

 

It could, sure... except Volks only ever shows him next to/ glancing at Hijikata. ^^ Oh, Volks.

And that is true, Amakusa was also said to be a real missionary hottie! But, do you know, I STILL think his Volks version is cuter?

 

Speaking of pretty boys and historical figures, I now hope Volks will one day take on Oda Nobunaga and his pretty boy lover Ranmaru.

 

Will there be a After Event for those of us that cannot attend?

JennyNemesis, I, like you, adore the artistic expression of the people rather than an exact replica. Dolls should at times be more perfect and attractive as being beauty created by the human hand and in our eyes, and Volks exceeds in translating all the many masculine and feminine forms of the world into such wonderful little pieces of art for each of us to love in our own way. You know what you like, and I agree with you wholeheartedly darling.

Why thank you! :3 Yes, we've all got our notions of 'how' this-or-that figure or character should best be idealized... No matter how far from reality they may be, I always end up loving the Volks incarnations. Whether or not I even know anything about the person beforehand. And, given all the Hot Shinsengumi anime I've seen and enjoyed, I'm totally on board with the notion of all of their doll-selves being just as hot! Oh man it's gonna be hard to resist these new guys.

(Some part of me would like to make a scars-and-all mod of a Masamune Date, just to see how ugly it'd be possibe to make that beautiful sculpt. xD Once I read his story I was fascinated! But, the big part of my brain knows it'd be futile; I think the idealized Masamune face is just too perfect to ever end up ugly, no matter how hard I'd try.)

Also: if you guys are writing the petition, I will third the motion to Volks that they take on the Nobunaga x Ranmaru dolls.... you know that's just the sort of thing they'd do, too.

 

If Ryoya can be put on SD17 & look great (see fransyung's boy Noel in the other thread), then I bet Hajime can too! - Ryoya is a teensy head, so I was pleasantly surprised to see him rockin' the SD17. Hajime looks a fair amount like Ryoya and I bet his head proportions are about the same.

I will wish you all the pixie dust during Dolpa time so you can snag that uniform + sword + wig + the hottie doll who comes with them.
Yuki may start trying to extort the wig out of you afterwards, though.

They did actually give him one blind eye - I think that's Volks's only concession to ugliness. ^^ It's eerie and I love it. (Yuki hasn't worn it since his obligatory fullset photos, but maybe he or someone else will flaunt it for you someday.)

 

I love my Date's blind eye, but he doesn't wear his either. Perhaps I'll find or create a character who can use the eye.

Anywho, I dunno why I'm getting my hopes up about it, but my mind won't get off of RG Okita, all the languid style beauty pictures they've shown are sucking me in>,<

i really want want to save for the revamp of the website though, just in case, but I'm excited to see what else they have to show us (for torture I guess?)

 

Yes, yes indeed. I didn't get interested in the Shinsengumi until my obvious interest in their adversaries got me going... and I think any version of them in doll form is a GOOD doll-form for them to have! I received a pm the other day describing the real life Saitou as a "sort of amiable frog." Ooo yeah that would sell for certain! ---

although... looking at the anthro section ... Froggie in a Shinsengumi outfit?

I'm looking at Kondou and thinking hmmm... he's pretty nice too. Maybe I should think along those lines! Heck, I'd go for all three but that would be a semester of the Lizardbreath's college costs. Um, maybe not

I'm still not a fan of either Hajime's or Kondou's noses, but Romantic Glance Okita is a shining star of this round, and I have a feeling grabby hands are gonna be all over him within seconds. I love the pictures though, they do show off all of the boy's best sides. I hope some people manage to get their own grabby hands on some of these boys, and hopefully the US branch will be ready to distribute for an after event...which I didn't even think about until now...hmmm?

 

I'm not keen on Kondou's orange blushing, but I do kind of love his wig with the blue highlights! And the fact that his fundoshi translates to "G-string" when I google translate the page. XDD

Good luck to everyone going for these boys! I feel like I've really dodged a bullet since I don't need any of them, but I'll look forward to seeing people receive them!

 

Kondou's eyes are so striking. He's a bit to manly for my taste in dolls though. Romantic glance Okita kinda makes me miss the Okita I had. He's lovely with the 1/2 closed eyes. Hajime, I can't help but think Levi from Attack on Titan with those eyes/eyebrows and hairstyle.

 

What? Kondou has a fundoshi?? Now that's an interesting piece of accessory...Sakamoto Ryoma's outfit came with unimpressive white plain boxers. XD

 

MacaronTea - That blushing of his makes me think of some of the older FCS faceups when Volks was really fond of orange blush. It seems old-school! I would like to see him repainted. He's definitely the most butch of all the Volks boys so far. XD

Why am I lol-ing that you came out at the mention of fundoshi?

I certainly hope someone who brings him home will do fundoshi pictures for us! I wonder if Volks will include a tying tutorial with him. XDD

 

Saitou does have boxers, it says so on his page! Volks needs more fundoshi boys! XD

but yes, if anyone here manages to get Kondou they must provide us with a photoshoot.

 

Volks did put out a fundoshi photoshoot, then took it down because it was too controversial(?) Of course they had to put in a terrible pun in, too: "Valentine's Day is Fundoshi Day" (2=Fu(n) 10=Do 4=Shi). With last year's pun contest ("Bought a WIG (uiggu), so WE GOOD (uiiguu)"), I don't think I can take anymore cheese.

 

Wow, that Hajime is SO intense! I thought Ryoya was an intense sculpt... this guy is smoldering. Even his hair is intense.

Now I am craving ALL of their wigs. Kondo's blue highlights are to die for, Okita's jaggedy-smooth j-rock hair is darling, and Hajime's razor-sharp bob is required by a certain fetish-queen in my house.

I also can't wait to see Kondo repaints. I really hope somebody here buys him. The sample doll has his mouth-line painted just too too heavily (as Volks is wont to do), and it distracts my eye from the rest of him. But his bone-structure is smashing, I mean lookit that huge lantern jaw! Has Volks been studying at Iplehouse, or something?....

They should--! I want to know how to get such a small fundoshi to lie nice & flat instead of looking like a huge rope. ^^ I made one for my Genji that never made it out of the prototype stage. Got the tutorials off the internet. Pour yourself a glass of wine and google 'how to tie fundoshi', and sit back to enjoy the videos.

Kondo is looking very, umm, forceful in his fundoshi! Love it! And that is an absolute scream about 2/14 secretly meaning underwear. Like a 420 party. Having a 214 party with lots of guys in G-strings-- sign me up!

I swear the universe is conspiring against me ever having an Okita. I've never had any luck at all getting things from Volks International, so my chances of catching one of the dreaming version probably just went from "slim" to absolute zero... zip... nada... not an icy little snowball's chance in hades.

I'll just be over here -ing in the corner.

 

But.... but.... it can't hurt to try and imagine if you won? It'd be so exciting! I still think you should go for it! I will keep my fingers crossed for you. I've never had any luck in the international lotteries either so I do understand how you feel but don't give up hope!

 

And if you want it badly enough there's always YJ. Event dolls don't always come up on Volks, but they always come up on YJ. ^^

I honestly can't tell from the photo!... his features seem indistinct, maybe it's the lighting. And the faceup, that can make anyone unrecognizable. But if the one-off theme is all the Shinsengumi guys, and this looks like an SD17, I suppose it must be Hijikata just by process of elimination. I guess. I dunno. (Usually I can sense a Hijikata from miles away. ;;^^)

... has he got geisha lipstick on, or something?.... I must be trippin.
