Volks Dolpa 18 Discussion.

I can't read Japanese, but I'm pretty sure the 50 sets on 12/25 is for a different event than Dolpa. ^_^;;

It's like how Mikuru and Yuki are also going to be sold at Comiket. ^_^;;

It looks like the 50 sets each on 12/25 are going through TBS (one of the TV stations in Japan) And for those curious it does say KunKun is included with HinaIchigo.

EDIT TBS is the station the Rozen Maiden anime airs/aired on in Japan so it makes sense they also do their own promotional.

 

I love that moments of waiting, finding little pictures, wondering how the dolls will look like.. argh, it's so funny!!!

That SD17 boy is spectacular!!! *looks in her tragically empty wallet and starts to scheme* And... you know... I've never really fallen in love with any of the Volks girls, but Suigintou actually made my jaw drop.

Thank goodness that it isn't limited to 50... I'd think that those two are guaranteed to make tons of money for Volks. I absolutely love Suigintou, although I might be able to pass on Hina because of the price. (She's over my budget even with her adorable Kun-Kun plush companion.)
The only real complaint I have about Suigintou is that her wings should be more ragged/have more texture. However, I suppose if they made her completely accurate, she'd also be missing a torso. XD
Now, back to hoping that I won't like Lune/Puss in Boots after all...

...but... aside from the Adam Ant song, I've never heard of Puss being female. why did they do that?

 

Ooooh awesome releases so far! I so love Alan but thankfully I can live without him. Same goes for the other dolls released so far. But if the other yos are Kuuta and Chinatsu I might be tempted to try for them....must see lol.

I hadn't seen any pictures posted yet. She started out as a rumor like the release of 2 Yos.

Hehehe... Kay kay... Some of us want Suigentou while others want Lune and Allen. =P

 

But so far, Suigintou is the most similar to her model I think. I'd be curious to see how she can look with another custom. (of course, it will be too late to get her later XD)

this is so sad, this christmas will be the brokest i've ever been in my entire life. i'm sure this Dolpa's set to yet again blow us all out of the water... Lune, Hina Ichigo... I wanna cry!

 

That's a pity, but in other part, I'm glad because I want a lot of SD of this dollpa.

After seeing the confirmed guidebook picture, I went and looked up the wiki article on Puss in Boots.

In "The Earl of Cattenborough" collected by Joseph Jacobs and in another variation "Lord Peter" the cat is female. But in the Perrault version which is probably the best known the cat is male.

I want to know if the other 2 Yos are really Kuuta and Chinatsu or whole new characters so I can know I am safe from this Dolpa lol

I couldn't quite put my finger on it for a while but then I realized that Suigintou looks remarkably like F-26.
I hope that when better pics of her are put up we can see differently, because she is so pretty

My head is spinning from all the pretty dolls! I just can't wait for my Garnet to get here~~ lol

 

Hmmm....with Shinku they released a very limited number and it was through a similar promotion, was it not? Now, it seems that the twins were not released with a similar promotion. So....is Hina like Shinku and will she be for that promotion or is she actually a Dolpa 18 doll?

So far, I'm impressed with what I've seen, which hasn't happened for the last few Dolpa. Suigintou is lovely as is Hina and I'd love to get both their outfits! Surprisingly, Allen is looking good so far, although I don't think that I'm quite ready for a big, big boy. May be thinking about a head/body split...

Is it just me or does Suigintou look a bit like Anais?

Suigintou does look a bit like Anais, but my first thought was "Kurumi crossed with Cristal"...

I doubt I'll be buying anything (I've got my FCS SD13 elf girl arriving soon and I'm sure I'll prefer her still over any of these lovelies), but I reserve final judgement 'til after I see th YOs!!! I wanna see the Yo's already, Volks!!!

Oh wow!!! So much wonderful news!! Where do I begin???

Allen: Oh... my... goodness!!! He is so incredibly handsome and elegant! He is just like a true prince! I love his wavy hair... I usually don't fall all over boy dolls, but Allen has really enchanted me! Anthony, you must get him to go your your gorgeous girl!!!

Lune: Cute!!! "Puss" has turned out even cuter then I expected! And it's a girl!! I think that is such an adorable take on the story! I'm so happy that Volks likes Western fairytales.

Suigintou: She is so cool!!! I didn't think they'd release her so soon, but she's perfect!! She is just how I imagined her to be! I absolutely love her face, and don't get me started on her outfit!!! All-around awesomeness!!

Hinaichigo: Squeee!!! So adorably kawaii!!! I love Hinaichigo!!! I never expected her to be a Yo, though! I always thought of her as MiniSD sized. Just her face makes me want to cuddle her! Hina-chan!!

Hey hey, here's an idea for those of you who want an Allen: Put your Reisner fullsets up for sale! There's plenty SD17 vultures who'd just love to give you $1400 for Dolpa-18 money! Nyohoho.

I'm with you: I badly want an excuse to snap up that SD17 body, but I don't think Allen wants to live here either. *sigh* Yet. There is always the hope of bigger & better pictures later.

Oh Mr. Ant, wherefore art thou... I suppose they just like to put girls into kittycat-outfits, so any excuse for a fairytale mashup? ^^ That SDC girl is just adorable. She kinda looks like a very manic Soony, like if a Soony & an Arashi had met in the mental hospital and had kids.

Allen: Not enough clear pictures of him yet for me to really decide! Though I'm partially hoping I don't like him too much, because there's no way I could get enough money for him. Lune: I'm not one for girls, and her face doesn't appeal to me, but she is pretty cute. I think it's interesting they made Puss in Boots a girl when most people know the character as a boy. I can't wait to start seeing owner pics of this girl.

Suigintou: I love her smirky/smiley face. I don't watch Rosen Maiden, but it's been interesting to see them do the characters! I can't wait for more pictures of her as well.

Hinaichigo: Oh... I think here I might be doomed a little. D: She is SO CUTE. Again I don't watch to series but... THOSE EYES. Gaaaaah dying of cute. >0< I want to see more pics of her too to really decide though... EDIT: She makes me think of a teeny tiny Anais; the nose and the mouth do it for me. *melts*


I really hope there is another 2 Yos released! I'd really like to see what Volks would do with them following this line-up already.

I also think that Hinaichigo DOES come with her outfit, because her price is over &#165;60,000 when normally Yo's are around &#165;40,000.

So exciting...now the intense month of dolpa waiting takes over...wait for detailed info on dolls (Volks Japan website)....wait for news of availability (international and US websites)....wait for lottery (US website)...wait for after event (international website)...wait for doll (wishful thinking here).

 

I hope not. They really should have done Hina in a MSD size rather than a SD YO size. Hina's not 1/2 the size of the other dolls. She's gonna be TINY compared to Shinku, the Twins and Gin. I'm hoping that they'll go back and make an MSD Hina. Wishful thinking, I know 'cause I don't think Volks has done 2 of the same character in different sizes before. Have they?

 

This is really just speculation, as I do agree with the fact that she will be really small in comparison Shinku, given that Hina's buyers even own a Shinku. But, just in speculation, maybe she was made to be a Yo because the sculptors and such at Volks felt that the proportions of the Yo body were more like her original proportions in the anime? Like it would be easier to get her body shape in a Yo rather than a MSD? (Like for example MSD legs would be too long or something)
Just a wild guess. *shrug* I'm probably waaaay off.

But that really doesn't make sense either, considering Volks is usually one of those companies to make their dolls right to-scale with original specifications.

I dunno, maybe some persuasive person at Volks was like "She's cute, c'mooon, make her a Yo" XD

 

I think her face sculpt is very young and right on for Hina. I had thought they release her as MSD too....but I adore her as a Yo.

Oh dear...both Allen and Suigintou are gorgeous and are entirely consuming me. And if the Elizabeth rumor turns out to be true, this could very well be the Dolpa that puts me square in the poorhouse.

I hope that we get to see more photos soon!

 

I don't think they've done that with resin dolls yet, but they just did it with DD and mini DD dolls for the Candy and Mirai characters, and they have done quite a few 1/6 anime dolls into DDs also (rei ayanami, asakura nemu, shirakawa kotori, yashiro kasumi, sanjie, lagla, etc.. etc...) so... you never know what might come in the future...
