Now I just wonder how to explain to my dad (who is afraid that he would damage delicate doll) that he would have to check the doll when she arrives~ I've heard about some problems with breaking arms and there are only 2 weeks to report it to volks to get replacement!

That default jacket & mullet hairdo did not last long! ^^ His name is Kimo, he's an old friend of Shinji's from Honolulu, and he has already displayed a penchant for running around without pants.



It took me an hour to get his eye-glue out. It was the same intractable goo that they put in Masamune's head, that nearly did me in... and they used more of it this time. Jeezis, they must've put in a pint for each eyesocket. What eyeball-jarring activity do they think he's gonna do during shipment, anyway? Pilates?

And while I love that they made his wallet with a real working billfold, *tch* it's empty! :P Just like mine!

 

Bwahahahahhahahah... Look at that boy, or err... man(?) ...doing Pilates? XD;;

If he's from Honolulu he really needs a flowery skirt, or hotpants, of some sort... ^^

Anyway, he looks awesome~ And Kimo's such a cute name for him!!!

 

I think running around in his boxer-briefs with his flannel tied round his waist is as close to hotpants OR a grass skirt as you'll get. The jury is still out on cabana-shorts.

Shiro's fullset is really pretty cool when you take it apart! There are lots of great pieces that will be repurposed many times on many dolls. Especially love the belt, the boots, and the black-and-red undies. He clearly loves the flannel. And the mullet hairdo is really kind of cute. :3

 

He's abs gawwwwwjussssss!!!! And what Honolulu guy wouldn't run around without big ol heavy pants??
And what a great name and association with Hawaii - and a certain legendary place in the city!!!!

Have the Yukinojos started to ship yet, at all? Any rumors? I have been enjoying the Shiro arrival pix, but am getting srsly curious for a glimpse of Nouveau Joe, & some real owner pix of the body/joints.

Oh, that's right!-- Kimo's on Polk St. was the diviest of dive clubs, home to the Worst Toilet In San Francisco. "Trainspotting" had nothing on Kimo's. Saw many great obscure hardcore & metal bands upstairs there. But it just recently closed. ;;_;; So I shall pay my private tribute to that beloved filthpit with the name of this pristine high-end doll. But, mainly, it's because that's a pretty common nickname in Hawaii... and besides that, he just looks like a Kimo.

 

Now he just needs a surfboard, even if he doesn't actually surf. I think Kimo should run around shirtless in just board shorts and be the tan god that he is.

 

Apparently Joe was more popular than anticipated. The Volks Intl site posted that the shipments would be split. Preorders from the first half of May will ship in mid-June, and preorders from the second half of May will ship in "Autumn." I'm not sure where dealer orders will fall in the schedule. Volks USA says they'll announce the delivery date later, but confirms that it will be different than the Japanese shipping schedule (of course).

 

Ah, so I didn't win I've never had any luck with the volks lotteries, or any lottery for a matter of fact. Bit upset about it, but that's the nature of the random draw. Congratulations to all the winners, comiserations to the losers, I feel your pain.

 

Sorry...maybe you can try the marketplace.

 

Congrats to all of the lottery winners! Because I love that sultry Shadow skintone sooooooo much, I had to keep gazing at the promo photos of Yukinojo to stop myself from entering the lottery for Shirou. Seeing all of the owner photos really had me tempted, but I resisted by reminding myself that I had already said yes to Joe. And as JennyN has already pointed out, it's not as if Shirou's wallet comes with any spare cash to pay for these magnificent males! LOL! So please keep posting those photos, as I join the ranks of all that are enjoying Shirou vicariously.

Thank god it seems more people are winning Rise this time around. Maybe Japan will have many of her too for it (it`s this weekend over here)

 

I'm withya there I ended up not doing the international lotto, but I didn't win from Volks or KL. I have no desire to own Rise now...T_T

 

I did not win shirou from the international lottery, but so far I have not won from that lottery yet. I just have to hope Volks will offer him again to us in the future. I going to have to try for some of the outfits this weekend especially a pair of shoes.

Question: Does anyone know if we are allowed to get more than one pair of the same shoe in the international AE?

I got a question regarding paying AE item in Volks Website store by Paypal.
I followed the process on the website until Confirm your Order page. I assume it's done (guess so, no "finish" sign appears). But my Paypal records shows payment to Volks is cancelled. Anybody paying with Paypal got this problem?

You can pay by Pay Pal on the international site, just not VolksUSA. I paid for my YoSd Megu a couple months ago during the international AE with Pay Pal. I wonder if they changed it just for this event??

 

fransyung & NabeeRain Volks International offers paypal and credit card option. I was told by a friend later that my USD pp balance has to be converted to JPY before I make payment or payment won't work. New knowledge!! >__<

Btw, in the afternoon I emailed Volks asking them to help check. Volks CS replied me really quick tho they said they couldn't help with Paypal or CC problem. Well, I'm impressed by their quick response w/n minutes after I sent email, tho.

 

Same here, I was so impressed when I receive their fast reply agreeing to my request about shipping! I thought they'd refuse coz I was told by some of my friends who bought direct from them that their customer services is not good and they are strict with shipping?

I was really worried but everything went smoothly and I'm very pleased with the first experiences I had with them

 

I've finally managed to pay for my Rise today. Interestingly, Volks does not charge me handling fees. I used credit card option this time. When I paid by Paypal before, they would usually charge me handling fees for each of my payment. Fees varied depending on how large an order was. I wonder if this is for the Paypal fees.

 

I finally payed for Shiro today...

Just after I got the winning mail from Volks Paypal limited my account. I was planning to use Paypal to pay for Shiro! I talked to Paypal and sent them all the information that they wanted, and they promised me that my account would be opened within 48 hours... Only problem was at that time there was only 41 hours left to pay for Shiro. So I wrote Volks and asked if they would consider giving me an extension on paying - explained my problems with paypal and Volks wrote back within a few hours. They would be able to give me an extension of 6 hours (from 12 to 18 when the cancelled Shiros would be rereleased). I was actually very surprised that they would give me an extension (I've always heard that Volks are very strict about paying on time) but off course I was also very happy. Volks just asked me to write to them before 12 if I was unable to pay for Shiro. I was very surprised by the kindness and understanding that Volks showed me

 

Really glad to hear you were able to make your payment! It would be sad to get so far and then have Paypal 'pull the rug out from under you'. I suppose that also means that there is a zillionth of a chance than those of us who did not win might get the unpaid dolls (if there are any?).

My order on Volks Japan does not say cancelled... yet.

Got an email from Volks last night saying that may credit card was charged with the order. This was my first time ordering from Volks/entering a Volks lottery, so I'm glad that nothing has gone wrong!

I paid for Shiro yesterday. It was expensive, the most I paid Volks. I am lucky with Volks and I never lost a doll in lottery. Sometimes I win and grandma wins it too so we make twins.

Shiro and Ruby are Brazilian like me. I hope they go well together. Volks is killing me with Shiro and Yukinojo, I have been so poor and liquidating whatever I can to fund them from my current junk.

Grandma Nana Jane had an accident and is in the hospital since Monday. She is feeling better and was so happy. It made us both happy and it was a nice distraction. We have been waiting for a boyfriend for Ruby, she is lonely.

Update: After 7 hours filled with hope(of maybe acquiring her with lot.#29), disappointment(when she was gone by #14), anger(of the lack of Rise`s all over), temptation(of splurging out on a Yamato Sayo doll), wait(for the cancellations), anxiety(Rise`s cancellations were called last), panic(as cancellations are sold with a rock-paper-scissors match versus the staff), crying(in despair), luck(of miraculously being the first winner out of 3 cancelled Rise), wailing (out of sheer joy), trembling (for perhaps the first time in my life from joy), muscle pains (due to those tremblings), I got my lovely girl.

The numbers of Rise released at AE is APPALLING.
So far I know there were only 4 at Sato, 8 at Shinjuku, 8~10 at Ikebukuro.

 

She's soooo pretty! I can't wait to get my Rise home! I'm so so so so thankful I was able to win her, I can understand the trembling with joy.

 

KimaLucifer - seriously, only that small amount of Rise? It seemed they had at least 50 at Akihabara... It was first come-first serve basis (you got number in line and then they would go according to those numbers asking what you want to buy - and giving additional tickets to buy it). Jun got sold out really fast, but I had number #139 and when they got to me they still had a big pile of tickets for Rise, Sakuya and Cirno.

 

I'm so glad you were able to get your dream girl KimaLucifer! Rise is a beauty! I'm not familiar with the game or anime, but do to her release I want to watch it now.

I see a lot of the limited outfits went pretty quickly (especially the ones that fit DD girls, predictably). I'm glad the stuff I wanted (that silly jrock-esque outfit modelled by the lovely new Shirou) was still available when I woke up this morning so I could grab it.

Congrats to those who won the dolls they wanted! I wish I could have entered for Shirou, but I couldn't get away with spending that much on a doll at the moment.

 

I love the J-Rock style bustier set that Jun T. is wearing! It's something I would totally wear. Lol, I'm hoping I'll get lucky to grab one when VolksUSA gets to offer them around August. I know there will be an extremely limited amount.

 

Daris, Akihabara does guillotine style so its a bit different I think lineup started at #45 right? I know Akihabara has many DD's, but the line is usually long, and I have terrible luck. (and so did my friends too) I really didn't know they had that many though. Its aggravating to think Akihabara sucked up all of them.

 

Wow, congrats KimaLucifer! I was at Sato and Rise sold out pretty much immediately. I guess there might have been four...there certainly weren't many.

I was quite surprised by how few dolls they had at Sato's AE--only maybe 10 Juns and I got one, lucky!!!--but maybe it's because at the last round of Kyoto Dolpa AEs there were dolls left over, esp SD16 Megu.

 

KimaLucifer - what do you mean guillotine style? Judging by the lenght of line, I was pretty sure there were these 130 people before me. Line only got shorter in front after Jun sold out.

Daris, Guillotine style is how we call the system Akihabara does lottery. You line up and get your number, then they draw one number, say, 70, and "cut" the line. That means #70 is the front of the line, and #69 is the very last person in line. Other places let you draw the number, which is what happened for me.

 

Cauldroness - waiting is totally worth it, Rise is just super cute!

carmen171 - thanks~ it was actually the only not-dark wig I had and I didn't want her to be bald. I still have to buy her all the protection against staining (it's my first DD and I'm really worried about staining after what I've read about DD!)

KimaLucifer - Woah, I didn't knew that. I was expecting a normal lottery and when they just went according to the order in line asking who would like to buy a certain doll at first I thought they were giving out lottery tickets for these dolls. I declined to believe it was that easy until I left the shop with my dolls... Guess I was lucky!

My Cirno has a problem with the magnet part for the 'wings' I just noticed it now... I've send a mail to Volks, hope they can offer me a replacement part. The problem itself is not big and can be easily repaired (it's a missing strap), but I would preffer to get an exchange part anyway (I mean, when you get a new doll you want it to be perfect, right?).

Has anyone here put in an entry for Yukinojo pre-order? Just checking, is the usual VOlks confirmation sent for this pre-order? Cos my friend who ordered for me put in an entry but she has yet to receive any email confirmation.

Jo77 I would imagine your friend would have received an e-mail to confirm the receipt of the preorder. At least that is what I received when I pre-ordered through VolksUSA yesterday before the deadline.
