11. CCBJD Dinner Update- PLEASE READ IMPORTANT CHANGE OF DINNER VENUE

A situation came up with our dinner location for this Friday that is making it look like we cannot have our group there. We have two choices on such short notice:

1- Drive 10 miles ( 12 mins. approx. from original restaurant )down the freeway to the only other buffet located at :Sweet Tomatoes

40 Crescent Dr
Pleasant Hill, CA
(925) 676-8493

2- Or cancel Friday nights dinner.

I for one do not want to cancel but circumstances beyond my control have arisen.

That being said let me know what you guys think. Please spread the word to other people you know that are planning on going to the dinner. I am going to email people tomorrow ( Monday) and also post it on the website tomorrow.

12. I'm happy with either 1 or 2. I had originally signed up for the dinner, but knowing me I will probably be doing last minute preparations for my booth...

Asking here because I couldn't find on the website: what hours is the vendor room open? I need to know what time I will be setting up and what time I will be packing up at the end of the day.

13. @allurose: Under "Vendor Information" at the bottom of the page has this info:
Saturday Set up time for Vendors is 9:00 AM . Doors open for ATTENDEES at 10:15 AM.
And on the Dollfie Dreams Forum it was posted that the event would end at 3:00 PM :daisy

14. Ok thanks...Is there anything happening after 3, aside from cleanup? I've been offered a job for the evening...

15. allurose Hi I resent the info I send out to vendors about time and so forth-

No it is just vendors breaking down and clean up-depending on how tired I am I might go out to dinner with people who want to. I am there till 4 though.

So it seems like people are good with sweet tomatoes- I need to call and confirm with them today-Then I will post and email new info=

Innocentsake You are awesome ! Thank you for answering questions for me! :aheartbea

16. Update

Restaurant change for CCBJD Friday night dinner

The dinner for this Friday night CCBJD meet and greet has changed locations but has kept the same time slot:

SEE you at 6:30 p.m @

Sweet Tomatoes/Soup Plantation

40 Crescent Dr
Pleasant Hill, CA
(925) 676-8493

Please let other people know that might not check the announcements or Facebook or email regularly. I am emailing everyone who wanted to attend.

Keep in mind there might be limited room if you bring a doll so only pick 1 or 2 of your best dressed kids to bring because I will be taking photos for the website!

Astrid

20. Aichan No Problemo ;) Always happy to help when I can. Gah before I know it the end of the week will be here! I need to pick out an outfit for my little MDD Tsukiko for the event :D First time traveling with a doll so hopefully I won't have any problems going through TSA (though I've been assured by friends that it will be fine). Not checking a bag since I'll only be staying for one night so just a small carry on bag and a little pillow carrier for Tsukiko~

21. I am sure it will be fine but they make me nervous too so I understand.;)

From larger companies to the sole proprietorship to your regular collector so many people have contributed to CCBJD over the years.

Please go over to Dream Cloud Creations and thank them for donating some items to CCBJD.We are not sure if they will arrive on time for this weekend's convention but it is the thought and support that counts!

26. Aww, I just realized I dropped the ball and never entered the photography contest. I suppose it's too late then?

27. ...There was contests? o___o

28. Yeah...It was mentioned earlier in the thread, but I think I missed the reminder about the deadline or something. If it's not too late by some chance I have some photos to submit. But I think it's too late. :(

I have an idea I want to do at my table, if it is ok. A BJD Babysitting Service!

Here is how it would work:
1. I take a picture of you with your doll on my phone (to match you up later, I won't post those photos).
2. For a cheap-as-free fee (maybe $1 or $2), you can leave you doll safely with me at my table for as long as you like during the day
3. I'll give you a receipt or something to hang onto if you like. I'll take down your phone number, DoA name or something like that (JUST IN CASE you forget your doll, eeek!)
4. When you are ready, you can come pick you dolly back up!

I have great feedback and am always very gentle with dolls, especially other people's. I would be happy to hang onto people's dolls so they can do some hands-free shopping, or go eat a cupcake without fear! I think it would be fun and helpful.

What do you think, is this kind of service ok?

29. Yes Sorry it was cancelled because no one entered it.It was being hosted by Joanne. I am not sure why but ppl dont like to play games during the con lol.

30. I love the idea allurose! Easier to shop that way!! I'm so excited - husband is actually coming to convention with me. He'll have to pay at door but I don't care.

31. Great, I'm glad you like the idea! I think it will be fun, and I like the idea of making it easier for people to shop (or eat). <3

32. Errr…yeah, what a great idea! And I can totally vouch for allurose…having been to many doll meets and commissioning her as well. I was just thinking of bringing my only MSD cause he's small, but if I could "coat check" one of my bigger dolls…I'd consider bringing one along.

You always have the best ideas allurose!

33. Heehee thanks! I'll be happy to hold onto your "coat" for you ;)

I am SO EXCITED for the con! I'm working tonight on making cute little labels and banners. And on making MORE JEWELRY (of course!).

And enjoy this sneak preview of some of the wares my partner will be selling! She is Butterfly House Decor, jiibii here on DoA. :)

34. Those are adorable!

And yeah, I would have entered the contests, but I seemed to have missed the fact that they existed until Allurose mentioned it.

35. Aww that's too bad! After I had finally bought my tickets I remembered the contest, but saw that the date for entries had passed and was super bummed I couldn't join in. I guess now I feel a little better? :sweat

I'm so excited!!! I'll be flying in tomorrow night and will have dinner with the friend I'm crashing & going to the con with. It's going to be such a fun day :daisy Totally going to make up for today (car broke down on the freeway and I have to pay to get the speed & transmission sensor replaced :doh).

36. Allurose: This is a great idea of "hat-checking" your bjds so you can move through the con with a bit more ease!!
Where would you have them on a table or ??? Do you have a "living room" area set up for them? Anything you decide is perfect. I was just thinking on how the bjd is "stored" for the "babysitting service" - how wonderful!! Maybe I will bring some sort of chair so that resin kid can sit and behave once I was off with another; maybe would like to switch them out? Again, just some random thoughts popping into my head

Will see you at the CCBJD con tomorrow !!!

37. I just realized that I can't find it anywhere on the website, can someone please let me know what time the con will be closing tomorrow?

38. InkyBear It opens to attendees at 10:15am and ends at 3:00pm :-) Waiting at the airport for my flight woot!

39. XD well be arriving at the dinner location tonight at 6. I'm going to bring 1 dolly~ ^^
hope to see all you guys there

40. My Marisa is ready for tomorrow morning, we will arrive at the opening if everything goes smoothly. I thought I would share how she will look so that people can spot me (I'm kinda shy and... french, so communicating is not easy, it might give it a little boost :D) (quick picture in front of my kitchen :D ):

sorry, I deleted the picture on my Flickr due to bad quality

As I asked on DD forum, maybe everyone could post a picture of the doll(s) they are bringing so that we can spot each others a little more easily ? :)
I really would like to meet doll lovers from North California (or not North California but I guess it would make things easier for hypothetical meetings :D).

And I must admit I'm super excited to get to see Volks booth for real ! :) It's going to be fun tomorrow :).

(PS : oh dear Jen, so sorry about your car ! Must have been so awful !)

edit : reading the thread again, I would like to add that I'm really sorry about the photo contest, I didn't know about it before the deadline either !

41. I'm glad you like my idea! I will see how much extra space I have on my table. I do have a couple benches and similar where they can sit. I will make sure that wherever they end up being, they will be 100% safe (not to get stepped on or fall off a table...eek!). If I run out of safe spaces I will just turn people away.

Ok...back to the preparation grindstone! :D

42. [IMG]
This is who'll be with me if you want to spot me! Can't wait to see you all there!

43. I'll be bringing my little Granado Terra - Sam:aheartbea

44. I'm not from CA at all, but I'm here ;) And I will bring this guy with me:

See you all tomorrow! ^^

45. I'm going to end up a little delayed... hope I don't miss too much! My girls are all packed and ready to go. :)

46. Need to get to bed, but wanted to post a pic of Tsukiko so anyone who wants to say hi will know it's me :-)
https://flic.kr/p/n3L4vH

47. wish i could go this year, i hope everyone posts lots of pretty pics so i can pretend i went!

48. Huge thanks to aichan for all of her hard work organizing this great convention!!! And much love to all of the amazing sponsors and donors. What a fun day!

49. I had such a wonderful time! It was my first time vending and I enjoyed it even more than I thought I would. I loved meeting everyone, newbies and familiar faces!

Some people were asking about my dolls and I think I didn't answer everyone in the hullabaloo, so here is an outline.

The two dolls in ballet gowns are porcelain Paperwhite Dolls by Teri.
The slim MSD is a Limhwa Leda.
The SD is a ElfDoll Hazy.
The resin tinies that were on my partner's side of the table are Limhwa ToYou Sarahs.
The other tinies are Natural Days Momoko, buffdolls custom Monster High Clawdeen, Barbie, and Adele Makeda Voyages Fashion Royalty.

My shop is Tiny Jewels Shop and I shared a table with my partner, Joe (jiibii is her DoA username), who runs Butterfly House. We are both on Etsy and Flickr.

I didn't get a chance to participate in the raffle or demonstrations, but I could see they drew quite a crowd!

In case there any vendors considering attending next year, I can tell you that this convention was definitely worth my time financially. I more than made up the cost of attendance, although I might not have if I had needed a hotel. But it was my first time, and I think next time I will do even better. I saw lots of selling activity at the other tables too. It's a small convention compared to some, but the low cost of tables made it worthwhile.

Thank you everyone that helped set up, and everyone who came! I loved seeing you all and your dolls! Friend me on Flickr! :D

50. Well said Allurose!

This is was my first BJD convention and it was awesome. I hope more of these are to come in the future. I think I was most impressed with the level of workmanship by the vendors. The energy and friendliness of the crowd was heartwarming and what makes me happy to be a part of this community. I was also incredibly honored to be able interact with the VP for Volks USA. It is so rare to have a company care so much about customer input and interaction.

I sincerely hope that the event was considered successful for the organizers...a big thank you! And of course it was wonderful seeing a lot of familiar faces as well as meeting a few new ones.

51. I had a great time! I bought so much stuff! And the new Volks standard girls are beautiful! The outfits they come with are really lovely and the face-ups are great too!

52. Thank you so much for organizing this, Aichan! I had a great time :aheartbea

53. Hi Guys,

Just wanted to say thanks to all of you who attended. I am so glad everyone had fun !

54. This was my first convention, but I would have to put it down as being pretty awesome. Thank you to the organizers, vendors, sponsors, and donors!!!

The venue was great as far as the space itself (indoor/outdoor but shaded access), easy to reach by public transit, and situated in a safe area close by other amenities (coffee, food.) I'd surely attend if this location was booked for future conventions.

55. I posted pictures on the Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/bjd.convention If you have photos and you are on facebook message me so I can give you acesss to post to the album I added as many people as I could remember their facebook names but I know there are a ton that I forgot.

Chobi I added your picture too I guess Richard took a pic of your pretty girls !

56. Ahhh I'm so jealous and wish I could have come to this! Was visiting relatives not far away and the whole day I was like "I wish I was thereeee!" ;) Does anyone know if they will be holding this event next year?

57. I really hope so!
