I'm wondering about Genji.... His date is listed as October 11th to November 9th, but then there's some sort of Genji Monogatari 1000th anniversary event on November 1st on the Sato calendar??? I'm also very worried that there's no price listed yet for him or for the kimono sets.... >.> (And dude, what's up with his shoes?)

 

Genji is GORGEOUS!... oh wow and probably too expensive for me to get now. wow so gorgeous

 

Its really interesting but I would like to know, do this event have 'after event' period on online website?

 

I don't think so, hojo. It's a members-only event.

I want to point out, as there was some confusion in the other thread, the Yo-tenshi do not come with the dresses that they are shown in. But the dress and sandal set is sold separately.

From Ria_ria's story about preoder Yo-tenshi Yuki both skin, make me know more about Volks limited doll. It's too very hard to get one limited Volks doll which come from other special event. TT_TT

 

Heh heh, my Japanese is actually very bad; I'm just lucky enough to happen to live in Kyoto! And it's true, getting limited items at Volks' Japanese events is not easy! I hope that I'll have good luck this time like I did at the spring event~ I want a tenshi body for my Yo Kun!

 

I'm seriously in love with Shizuku. She looks uber cute! D: I guess Y!J will be my good friend when she is release. T__T

I just want to note last year *I* went to the October 2007 Sato Event. I got there a little after 8:00 am and there was a HUGE line in front of me and people had definitely gotten there a lot earlier than the "suggested" arrival time. I drew a bad lottery # and when I left at 2:30ish I had an awful sunburn and most of the LE items had sold out hours ago. It was so crowded I couldn't even make it inside. (However since the normal skin Yuki and Yuh could be preordered for a 1 week period, I just came back the next week end to order my Yuki )

If you're considering going to this event I am sure people will be lining up as early as 6:45/7:00 am.

If you're considering going to this event and do not live in Japan and so are not eligible for VS/VIP membership but still want to attend this event I would recommend contacting Volks ASAP to see if they can email you an invite. You will probably need to prove membership in something like VolksUSA (which I did) You will need to present the invitation and ID and I think I had to show my VolksUSA card as well to draw a lottery #. (I have no idea what one would do if one lived outside the US/Japan)

 

I lived outside Japan , and this event make me really sad....
I can't get my love doll even if I can buy it. These's no choice and no chance for me in any case.

I feel very sad for this TT___TT, and the price in Y!J will too much higher than release price.

I love Hikaru Genji SD17 but well... it will be lottery? How will be? Certainly I will have to use Y!J but maybe it will be hard to get...

Yeah, I just wanted to reiterate your point about how difficult it is to get anything from the event since I went to the event last October. you mentioned knowing one person who went and I wanted to share my personal experience.

I'd previously gone to the March 2007 Tenshi release when Mamu was released and that was nowhere near the nightmare of the October 2007 one. From what I remember the the LE outfits and the LE wings sold out first. I think the white skin Yuki made it all the way to #800 or so and the Yukis they had on hand maybe 900 or so? They were just getting to 950 or so when I left at 2:30 and I think there were still some Yuhs, but my dream doll was Yuki and since I planned to come back to pre-order it didn't seem worth it to stand in line any longer. Plus I wanted to catch a shinkansen as I was going to Tokyo that afternoon. ^^;;

Are they released new wings or any wings for this event?

This evening I thought about to give up on him but... well I think is too soon to give up, maybe it´s better to wait and see... but maybe I will give up sooner or later... I don´t know

Hikaru Genji...wow..this is why I need to stay away from DoA! I want him! Too bad I am broke! Ah well...maybe on Yahoo Japan he won't be as expensive as a Renee is!

 

In my opinion there is no amount of money to pay human health so I think that nobody should risk her own condition because a great amount is paid... (well is my humble opinion but I wouldn´t do it) I would underestand that somebody don´t want to do it because I wouldn´t want.

I think that I you can go, and you´re ok, it is fine, so just go and enjoy, but if you´re going to have a bad time it doesn´t worth it.

I remember last year´s after event in Akihabara and it was like... well, I didn´t get tired at all but it was really boring and frustrating and maybe, many people with that heat would get ill.

At Sato´s you can´t get drinks near as it is said(if you want to keep the turn), the cafeteria is not so big for all the people who will go that day (in a normal sunday there´s a lot of people inside) So I can say certainly, if you ask someone to buy a doll for you, maybe... I would underestand that the prices would rise a lot because it is REALLY a hard work.

There´s a lot of people, there´s a lot of time waiting, and plus, carrying the doll...

So I think I underestand it, because I already did before.

Is because all of that I think that nobody would want separate from her/his doll ... It takes a lot of effort to get it! But if somebody is ok with it... please sell me Genji

I think volks really outdid themselves with these vs/vip offerings.

I really love the angel robes. They wedding kimonos are gorgeous.

I really am enamored with Shizuku and of course the wing collector gene covets Hinata's wings. Interesting that these resin wings mirror the featherlike larger doll wings more in construction. The older resin wings don't have such defined feathers.

 

I LOVE everything, but am really HAPPY to see a new SD17 boy. *wants*

 

I´m really in love with wedding kimono for boys, I think is the coolest.

Forgive my newness to Volks events, but has Volks ever offered the Japan-released dolls at later US dolpas or events?

 

Yes, the 4 sisters Yo-SDs were offered at the last US Dolpa in June, where they been only offered at the previous Japanese Dolpa.

Yes Volks has in the past re-relased YoSD dolls to US Dolpas that were fist released in a Japanese Dolpa. Sadly Yo-Tenshis, Ko-Tenshis, Kyo-Tenshis are Sato only exclusives. So they are not easily available to even the Japanese residents.

Also hate to really be the bearer of bad news but VS/VIP events don't have an online After Event.

i think it's cause they started out selling Super Dollfie to high end collectors market. With the internet though the market for ball-jointed dolls in general has expanded. Luckily volks has somewhat been slowly becoming more available.

Sadly for fans outside Japan some things are still special exclusives I feel the pain too as I absolutely adore their Tenshi sculpts but they are so hard to get but at least not impossible to get.

 

I love both also but trying to be realistic I'm limiting my scheming to trying to get Shizuku and just Hinatas wings. Wishes us both luck in our efforts

I hope these styles show a new trend for heir option wings I love the definition of each feather in contrast to the earlier wings styles that are more stylized.

While slightly OT, it's important to remember that the Japanese as a whole tend to LIKE exclusives and limited editions so I really don't see Volks changing their procedures overly much. While they appreciate and do a lot (in my mind) already for their North American based customers, it's still important to realize that their primary market/focus is still Japan and the greater percentage of their fans are Japanese.

How expensive on Y!J the new tenshi are depends on how popular they are and how difficult they were to get. Last year if you looked when people started received their pre-orders for YoTenshi Yuh and YoTenshi Yuki the prices were relatively reasonable and were averaging around 50,000 yen.

One thing to always note with Y!J is sellers are not charged listing fees so sellers will sometimes ask ridiculous high prices hoping someone is desperate enough to purchase.

Weslie: All of the items at this event are Sato only, and will probably never be released through VolksUSA. Your best bet for getting the robes would be to go through Y!J.
